First fill questions?
Teacher07 replied to Loving everyday's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first fill was a little tricky. The doc had a little problem finding my port at first but once she did it was fine. There was a slight pinch on my stomach but other than that it was fine. The whole process took approximately 20 minutes and atleast 15 of that was just chit chat about what I was eating and how much I was exercising. I am always put on liquids for two days following a fill but nothing before. -
I was banded in February and was just curious how my other February friends were doing?

Fabulous february friends
Teacher07 replied to Teacher07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didnt mean for all of my coworkers to find out but they did. I guess it was the tell one tell all rule at my school because everyone found out and i couldnt hide it because I think the first 40lbs all came off my face:) I teach Title I and PE! It sounds like everyone is doing well, yes, I was rather aggressive with my fills and I think I am as tight as I am going to go. I think I have about 5.5cc in my band. Oh and to Jenn: size 10? That is AMAZING and you will reach goal within no time! Wow what an exciting thing for all of us to be going through. -
I was just banded today!

Fabulous february friends
Teacher07 replied to Teacher07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats 40lbs is awesome!( I didnt realize how awesome until I carried in a 30lb bag of litter the other day)(it was HEAVY) I had my surgery on February 4th and the first 2 months it just fell off for me. There was no secrets involved, I literally just followed their diet plan and I was losing about 5lbs per week. NOW HOWEVER, I have also been at a plateau for the past month. I just had another fill and FINALLY I have dropped 3 lbs and it is the first 3 lbs for a long time. I am hoping that it will keep going that way. Did you let your coworkers know you had the band done? -
5 days post op and sharp pain on L when I breathe in

Teacher07 replied to Erin18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 40lbs. It was crazy the first two months I was averaging 5lbs a week. Too bad the rest wasnt that easy! -
Approved for surgery, now what????
Teacher07 replied to discomom63's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My approval didnt take as long as it was supposed to either. I think I had surgery about 9 days after I was approved, it went super super quick. Good luck to you! -
Not even 2 weeks out and...
Teacher07 replied to tomina80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Calm down and get back on your diet. I had a totally different regimine than some of you and was allowed to eat mushies on day 6 so I dont think that some cottage cheese is going to hurt your band. However, if your doctor has you on liquids for two weeks than I would try to stick to that. It is very important to follow your doctors suggestions to avoid a slip but I dont think you have to lay awake at night because you ate cottage cheese. -
Getting Banded tomorrow 20th! ...
Teacher07 replied to felkatz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Penny it is funny how different every doctors directions for surgery are. I never even had to be on a liquid diet before surgery. I could eat right up until the night before surgery. I chose to do a liquid for lunch the week before only because I wanted to get used to only having liquids. I think that it would be alot harder before surgery rather than after because after you really dont feel like anything but liquids for awhile. You will do just great though, think of the amazing results to come. You will learn to eat food for nutrition instead of other reasons. It is unbelievable how this will change your life! -
Getting Banded tomorrow 20th! ...
Teacher07 replied to felkatz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations to all of you!!! Tommorow is the start of a new life for all of you! It is an amazing journey the band will take you on. I think of it as one of the best decisions of my life. I take a multivitamin, calcium, and a stool softner daily. I never needed a chewable or liquid. I also recommend getting lots of juice for after surgery. I recommend Dt. Ocean spray in a variety of flavors. I also recommend carnation instant breakfast. It tastes great and is an excellent source of protein and vitamins. Good luck to all of you! -
Jeans circa 1991 fit!

Congratulations!!!!!! What an amazing feeling! -
I just ate a small steak for supper which was very tender. It didnt get stuck going down and I thought I had no problems. However, within a half hour I felt it start to come back up. I dont think I will be eating steak anytime again soon!

I burped alot after surgery. I also had alot of gurgling going on in my stomach for the first couple of months. I dont burp half as much now and the gurgling has subsided. Just be patient and it will all work itself out! Good luck!

Surgery Date of Aug 3
Teacher07 replied to CarrieLynn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh for exciting, you will soon be in for the best change of your life, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Ok, well first off I bought a flavorless protein powder from GNC-approx 8 bucks a container. I added that into whatever shakes I was making, choc., straw or vanilla. It went great with Carnation instant breakfast which also had protein in it and a good source of other vitamins. As far as the Dt. Dew I was also a HUGE Dt. Dew drinker infact I drank just as much as you and I havent had a can in over 5 months. It will be different after surgery because the carbon didnt feel well in my stomach so it was easy to opt for Crystal Light, tea or Dt. Juices. Best of luck to you! -
Travel after surgury
Teacher07 replied to gouryella's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just flew for the first time since getting my band in February. I have only one piece of advice, do not eat right after you get off the plane. I tried eating an hour after and had PB. and it was the first one since getting my band. I asked my DR and she said it was because the air pressure can cause any air in the band to expand and cause your band to feel tighter for a few hours. -
My 40th birthday, and no more double Chin. Definitely something to smile about! ( 4 months post op)

I really need help!!!
Teacher07 replied to paritam's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldnt worry! I am guessing your band is just too tight. My doctor has always said if my acid reflux or heartburn returns to come in ASAP because my band is too tight! Stop worrying and just visit with your doctor! -
Any couples taking this journey together?
Teacher07 replied to DanBar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is a couple in my support group that have both been banded. Our surgeon suggested they have the surgery 2 weeks apart so they could help take care of each other but it worked out well for them. They are each others support and they love going out to eat and being able to "Share" a meal! Good luck to you both! -
I had surgery in February and I have yet to have a normal cycle. My doctor said this is normal after a surgery like that!

Hey if you are up and moving around you are already doing WAY better than I was! I PROMISE it will get better and you wont remember the pain when you see the scale going down! Best of luck!

I have a question or two
Teacher07 replied to FabBy50's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will slowly get better. I could't drink more than a couple ounces at a time for the first month. Now, I cant get enough to drink and find myself drinking many more ounces than I actually need a day! -
Clicking noise during a fill
Teacher07 replied to mlafentres's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear the same clicking sound and it is almost as if I can feel it too! I guess if many people experience this I would not be to worried! -
being accused of cheating
