Does Lap-Band help with emotional eating?

I had my surgery in May. I'm about your height/weight and my goal is the same. I really had to figure out what it was that made me an emotional eater, but I have found that the band helps a GREAT deal. I do agree that it depends on what foods you turned to, but I think even if it's ice creams and chocolates (things that are more simple to eat) that you will still lose, but perhaps at a slower rate. Personally, my cravings have stopped and I've got more energy than I've had in a long time so when I'm bored and want to eat I just find something else to do. I will tell you not to get discouraged if you find yourself eating more than you think you should be able to - call your doc and get a fill!! I think I've finally found my "lucky spot" (2.3 cc) and you will find yours. Good luck!

    Slipped band too

Thanks. I'm just learning how to use this site (during free time at the office..ha!) and I found your message first. I appreciate your advice!!

    Slipped band too

I was banded in May and will have my first fill next week, on the 15th. I have cheated just a bit on the mushie foods (chewing well though) and of course since I'm still learning my limits on everything I get worried when I cheat a bit. I don't think I've caused damage since I'm feeling fine, but I thought I would ask to ease my curiosity. What are signs of slippage and how do they test for it?
