Make that my 2 YEAR Band-Anniversary! Wow. I cant believe it has been two years today since I had my band placed!!! I have been quite busy and away from the forums for a long time, but thought I would post an update today.. The band has changed my life in such a positive way. I am happier, healthier, and just enjoying life! Here is a current pic taken a couple of weeks ago at Disneyworld! Sherry

Hi there I have lost 88 lbs so far.
-
Thanks everyone! It has truly been an amazing journey!!

Figured out how to make smaller pics :-)

No clue on the earwax thing!! LOL I hope it clears up for you. As for the Water... that sounds like too much right away. For myself until two weeks post-up I had to drink about 4 oz an hour for the time I was awake... I would call your doc to make sure! Congrats on your band!!

Gretchen, First please remember that you cannot compare your results to anyone else. Some people lose fast, some slower. Plus, you were only banded one month ago. I was banded back in September and probably had a lot of the same feelings you are now, but once I got my fourth fill (yes FOURTH fill - because my doctor will only fill .6 cc at a time) things FINALLY fell into place and I felt that I really only then knew what the purpose of the band was for. The first few weeks really are tough, because it really is for healing only, but also for one to keep practicing the bandsters way of eating, because when you do get those fills and get that awesome restriction you WILL have to change your ways or else you will vomit, PB and all that other fun stuff people talk about. Please remember that it is a not a journey of who can get the weight off the quickest! Good luck!

Definitely put the scale away and only weigh once a week or so. I am guilty of weighing everyday because I have been keeping a log of food and exercise as well to see my patterns of weight loss, but if it upsets you to not see a loss after 3 days when you have lost 8 lbs since surgery it is not worth it. You have to remember that this is not a quick fix, it is a long-term tool that you have to learn how to use and live with. Good luck!

Hi Everyone.. I was scheduled for a fill last Wednesday, but got a call first thing in the morning my doctor's office had no fill needles, that they are backordered and will call as soon as they come in. I was bummed because I know I need a fill and could have used it two weeks ago, but my doctor is so conservative with fills (will only do .6cc at a time), that I stuck it out til my appointment. I just called this morning (monday) to check on the status and the secretary said they are still on backorder and that she has heard it is a nationwide shortage. ARGH!!! Anyone else?

No fill needles? Anyone else encountered this?

Thanks leatha, I would be curious. She also said something like she has heard that California has none at all. (I am in Massachusetts..) -
Now THAT would have been priceless if you had responded that way!!! You are right though, some people really have nerve, that was really out of line for her to ask you that by yelling across the street!!!!!
-
That is awesome! Congratulations!!! You were banded just over a year ago and now have 100 lbs lost! WOW!!
-
Sparkette Congrats on making your decision!! Good luck with your surgery! Sherry

Christy.. Congrats on your choice! You seem to have made a great start! Like Kat said.. Drop the caffeine (especially soda)... Walk, walk, walk, and try to start eating the "bandster" way little by little so it becomes natural... Get in your Water as well... Good luck! Sherry -
I had surgery Monday, got out of the hospital Tuesday afternoon, and went back to work Wednesday. I have a desk job in an office environment so nothing strenuous at all... Sherry

Christy I would look at other options. Go to a different doctor, or many people on here have been successful with the Mexican route, although that is a personal preference... Good luck in whatever you choose! Sherry -
Hi BJean: I go about every 5 weeks for a fill. Like I said, he will only put in .6cc, so really the first two fills I didnt feel any restriction, felt a little with the 3rd fill, but now can REALLY feel the difference. It is amazing. I know everyone is different in terms of how much fill one needs, but it has made such a huge difference in terms of my eating. I really just cant fit that much in, but am satisfied with the amounts I do eat.... So, I do feel much better all around!! How often do you go in for a fill?
-
Hi Bjean.. Yes, we were banded the same day (hard to forget that date anyways...). I am taller than you. If I remember you are about 5'1"? I am closer to 5'8"... I hit a plateau in December/January.. I did okay through the holiday, but from January til February I didnt lose one pound (although I didnt gain one either), but since Feb 5th (my last fill) I have lost about 8 lbs, and am getting another fill next week. My doctor will only put in .6cc MAX at each fill. I feel like I *may" be almost at that sweet spot, as I have done real well this month and I feel like the band is really working. I too have that chocolate addiction (hey, that is what got me here in the first place!), but am able to just have a couple of M & Ms and I seem to be okay. Only since the beginning of February have I really realized what this band is supposed to actually do, rather than reading about it. I am glad to be back as well, and am looking forward to participating!! Sherry

Hi Everyone... My name is Sherry (obviously :-), and I was banded Sept 11th, 2006. I was an active participant in the beginning of this thread, but life got realll busy and I just didnt have time to read the boards and keep up... I realize (now) that this was a huge source of inspiration and the tips and tricks I learned on here were invaluable, so I would love to rejoin the conversations and postings... My highest weight before banding was 250, and I am now down to 192.8 (as of this morning). I have had 4 fills since my surgery with each fill being .6 cc each...I feel like with this 4th fill I "finally" am able to feel some proper restriction and it is doing alot of the work itself, although I need to make the proper food choices.. I have read back a few pages and recognize some names (Hi BJean, dont know if you will remember me!) So, anyway, Hi Everyone! Sherry
