breast lift/implants before reaching goal?
carebear12187 replied to CantB2noty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't wait because my insurance wouldn't cover it 100 percent after the first of the year. I was banded march 09 and have lost 84 lbs so far I am still 20 from goal. I went into a plastic surgeon and told him that I would still be losing weight after surgery. I also explained to him that I need to do it before the end of the year because of my insurance. He didn't have any problems really with my condition of losing more weight. I had my reduction done on 11/17/09 and currently am two weeks post surgery and doing good. I went from a 42 H to a 40 D. He said that he would leave me big because I was still loosing and that I will eventually see some saggyness but nothing like before. I am so happy that I did it. -
I don't know about other people but since I have been banded I seem to get drunk faster than before. My drinking habits have not really changed since I have gotten my band except that if I have a big meal (in band world like 1 cup) I can't fit any alcohol or anything for a while. If I chose to drink I normally stay away from beer bc it fills you up really fast. I can have a beer or two before dinner but defiantly not after dinner. I normally stick to vodka cranberry they are a drink that you can order from any bar that doesn't have much carbonation so they don't fill you up. I normally drink modestly but sometimes you just gotta let loose. I have drank too much with the band and have thrown up but it hasn't messed anything up. I talked to my dr about it and he said that as long as you are not puking everyday your band should be alright. My drinking hasn't really effected my weight loss either. 82lbs down in 8 months!

Ahhh. Stomach Flu= Total unfill :(
carebear12187 replied to mellabella78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg I couldn't imagine getting a total unfill. It would be on that's for sure. I'm sure I would eat everything in sight. I had the stomach flu and luckly didn't have to get an unfill. I had the stomach flu a week after I had my gall bladder out and immediately went to the hospital because I thought my band was messing up. They gave me antinausia through an iv and that made me feel a ton better. I hope u get well I know what u are going through. -
My sister considers lap-band surgery "cheating", and I am TICKED!
carebear12187 replied to shellyphaunts's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have had some of the same feedback about getting lapband being cheating. if you show people that you don't care what they think is what I have found to be the most successful. I just say " lapband is cheating but I don't care look at me now. There is no way I could have done it without lapband.". I love who I am and that is the best thing about it. Just have a positive outlook about it and that will help keep you on track! -
Ok a little about me to start off. Starting weight 252 banded 3-09-09. Lost 84 lbs to date and had a breast reduction/lift on 11/17. All around I think I'm doing really good on my weight loss. I think that as much as people like to say that losing weight doesn't change who you are they are totally wrong. When you are an obese person like I was you a judged differently. You are judged as fat lazy and a slob. I really haven't changed much about me except my personal appearance but find that I feel like a different person and am treated differently. Its fine I don't really mind it because I have realized that people are shallow. I myself am shallow. I didn't get lapband just because of my health. The main reason that I got it was because I wanted to be skinny. I'm not going to be that person who says that they did it for other reasons I don't really care what people think. All that I know is that I am happy now even though I still have 20 lbs till goal. I love me and that's all that matters. F everybody else.

8 Month Anniversary, How's everyone doing?
carebear12187 replied to jdelaere's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am rite there with you. I have lost 84 lbs since my banding on March 9th. When I am too tight I have a bunch of flem. I have found that if I just wait it out and lose a couple of extra pounds that the flem seams to subside a little but it is something that I think I will always have to deal with. I also had to have my gall bladder out in july because of gallstones. They say that rapid weight loss is the cause of gall stones most of the time with banders. Two weeks ago I had a breast reduction and now they are perky again. I was lucky to have my insurance cover 100 percent of it. I'm loving the new me. Though I often find it a battle between too tight and too loose. -
Anyone in or around the Georgetown, Texas area?
carebear12187 replied to martom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I often have cravings for stuff that isn't too good for me. I normally don't give into them but I have learned to let myself have some of the things I want in small portions. I feel if I don't give myself a break sometimes my craving just get worse. Carrie Cedar park, TX -

carebear12187 replied to Dr. Duc Vuong's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dr. V, You said that soy Protein is a good source of protein. But i heard that soy protein contains estrogen. Is this true? I heard extra ammounts of estrogen can cause a whole mess of things. thanks carrie banded 3/9/09 -
