Well it's a small milestone but I've officially lost 100 lbs since surgery on July 1. I was 441 then and now I'm 341 as of Dec 1. Overall for the year that puts me at 132lbs lost! I've been eating right, no cheating, working with weights for my arms and just started swimming 2 wks ago. I go swimming 4 days a week for 30 mins. I still have a long way to go but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel [emoji3] Sent from my SM-G973U using BariatricPal mobile app

What is best Protein Powder to add to soups ?
texasnewf posted a topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Hi there ! Just wondering the best Protein Powder to add to soups that most importantly - don't add a aftertaste. Something that don't mess with the flavor of what I'm making.. I intend to roast veggies, broth, spices, etc and add my own protein powder. Thanks, 😀 Craig -
Wow you are rocking it too ! You are doing the right things as well .. I'm sure you will reach your goal ... I just wish I didn't have another 90-100 to lose .. lol .. But I'm determined.. eating right, lifting weights, and swimming 3 times a week (since I can't walk - bad knees) I'm sure to do all I can to reach the next goal by this time next year .. or sooner ! Good luck with your success !

Has anyone had a venus insufficiency in their leg ? I just had an ultrasound at a vein specialist and that's what the technician said. I go to see the doctor this Friday about what the treatment will be.. I'm just curious, worried.. I just got all the clearance for my VSG surgery and now I found out this. My left toes have been numb for the last several months so I finally decided to get it checked. Just wondering what to do ? Thanks Sent from my SM-G973U using BariatricPal mobile app

This is strange, I've been tracking, in Sept I was stalled for 19 days. But i lost 17lbs during the 11 days I wasn't. The key here I've found is to keep on track as hard as it may seem. [emoji3] Sent from my SM-G973U using BariatricPal mobile app

Congrats looly ! Keep it up ! I too finished the stall a couple days after this post (7 day stall) and I lost 7 lbs since then. Down to 373 now! Just have to stick with plan I guess

Had my surgery July 1. I was losing weight like crazy. I had one 4 day stall in August- not too bad. Then Sept rolls in, Already lost 58 lbs since July 1. I stalled from Sept 5 to Sept 12 (7 days) then I only lost 2 lbs ! Then stalled again from Sept 13 to Sept 20 and lost another 2 lbs this morning .. I hope it gets better tomorrow and next week. I am eating exactly same diet religiously 650-700 calories per day and tons of water (over 100oz) , and 75-85g protein every day . On another note I have been a lot more active and doing things around the garage and yard, cutting tree limbs, etc. I know I'm building muscle and my pants are getting more slack. I am thinking about getting into swimming at the gym to get some cardio in. Anyone have suggestions on how to keep the stalls from happening ? Thanks !

Thanks everyone, I guess I have to just stick to plan .. and hide the scale lol .. but I'm a scale junkie.. every morning I have to check it first thing

Congratulations !

It's been about 7 weeks since surgery and I've lost 45 lbs and now I've been in a stall for the last 5 days. Hopefully it will get back to normal in a few days., Nothing has changed, I'm still drinking lots of water, eating same foods.. keeping calories to 650/day as per Docs orders... I guess this is normal for the weight loss ? Your body just readjusting itself ?

The dreaded Weight loss Stall
texasnewf replied to texasnewf's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for the info. I broke the stall a few days ago and already lost 4 more lbs.. It was discouraging being in a stall but I guess as long as we realize it will happen from time to time we can deal with it.. Sticking with the plan and Never Give Up ! -
The dreaded Weight loss Stall
texasnewf replied to texasnewf's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow, I didn't know a stall could last that long. Thanks for letting me know .. I know it's depressing after 5 days, I can't imagine for 3 weeks.. Here's hoping to success for you, me , everyone ! -
Ok, I am being serious. At the end of my first week on pureed foods I was craving the Chinese food flavors. So I ordered Chicken and Vegs in brown sauce and asked the lady for extra sauce (I told her I had to put in blender so she laughed and said no problem) Other that it looking strange when all blended it tasted heavenly I'm only eating 3 ounces in a meal so I have to put over half of it in the freezer as it will last me over a week. I figure since it's just 3 oz, it can't be too many calories, any thoughts ?

Good points. I'm throwing out the chinese food. Nothing but seaweed and tofu for me from now on
-
As per Doctors orders I have to be on pureed foods for 2 more weeks. Then on to regular foods.

Oh Darn, Thanks for the info, I hadn't thought about this sauce being high in calories. I thought I was getting a good mix of protein and vegetables. I guess I'll try it without the sauce. I bet it still tastes good.

I scoured the forum for tips from people and came up with a revised list of things to try. I'll be adding to this and updating as time goes on but this is a lot to go on and gives me hope as I start my Pureed diet phase this weekend. Enjoy ! 1. Eggface Ricotta Bake (google it) 2. Green bean casserole (bariatric style) with canned chicken 3. Tuna casserole (bariatric style) with green Beans instead of peas 4. Mexican beef with cheese or beans with cheese (too carby for me--made me hungry too soon after eating) 5. Broccoli, spinach or cauliflower pureed with light cream cheese, lemon juice, s/p/g (steam the crap out of it first) 6. Smashed cauliflower with bacon and green onions (put in a food processor) 7. Any Soup or chili made bariatric style 8. Fish in foil pouches with lemon and spices/herbs. 9. zucchini sauteed with onion, tomatoes and herbs and pureed--can add any kind of lean meat.< /span> 10. yogurt/cottage cheese blends with berries. 11. Pureed black Beans with a bit of cheese 12. Yellow Split Pea Soup puree 13. Buffalo chicken Dip puree 14. Broccoli cheese Soup puree 15. Pureed Chicken Salad 16. 4 Cheese mashed cauliflower 17. Hummus - Roasted Red Pepper by Sabra 18. Eggface Cottage Cheese Bake (sub out cottage cheese for ricotta + parmesan + ps mozza shreds + low carb marinara) 19. Cottage cheese flavored with taco seasoning 20. Progresso chicken enchilada soup with mashed cauliflower & ground chicken pureed 21. Scrambled egg with a little milk and topped with a teaspoon of salsa 22. Pureed Italian sausage with a little green and red pepper with Spagetti sauce 23. Has anyone else had problems sleeping since they had the sleeve surgery ? It's been just shy of two weeks and the first week I didn't have any issues but now just about every night I have to take a prescription sleeping pill. Sent from my SM-G973U using BariatricPal mobile app

It's hard for sure.. Post Op I wasn't hungry the first 2 weeks.. but now at beginning of 3rd week Im getting hungry. The best advice I can give you is to persevere. You got this ! Think about the success later... I'm down 13 lbs in 13 days already Post-OP.. that's what keeps me going .. I still have 1 more week on liquids.. its killing me but I know if I'm going to be successful that I have to do it by the book.

Trouble sleeping after Sleeve
texasnewf replied to texasnewf's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks everyone for your feedback. I have melatonin so I will try taking that as well. I also have sleep apnea so I'll be glad if I lose enough to get rid of that stupid machine too... although in some cases it's not weight related.. but I think in my case it is... -
