Hello, With summer and watermelon season around the corner . I know no snacking but can anyone tell me if they replace a meal with watermelon and if you stick to the 4 ounces. This will be my first summer with the band and I love watermelon so i am trying to figure out how to fit it in the right way. Thanks!

I would also be interested in meeting up with other bandsters in town!

sleeping on stomach
tlhamilton replied to hessekids's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I usually sleep on my stomach or left side (where the port is) day of surgery I was sleeping on my left side and a couple days after surgery I was sleeping on my stomach. Every once in a while I feel pressure but I just make a slight movement and all is good. -

I have the 10cc Lap Band, I let my Dr. make the choice once he got in there and decided which he thought would be best. -

tlhamilton replied to darthcandy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to have an ekg and a chest xray...not sure why but I didn't care what I had to do to be approved for the surgery :-) -
Does everyone get the lidocaine shot before a fill??
tlhamilton replied to mommakatx2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I do not get a numbing shot before my fill, I have had two fills and do not find they hurt...basically a tiny prick and then nothing. -
I have not kept my surgery a secret...my niece did give me crap about doing it at first but then she came around. Everyone from work to family have been super supportive. I do not regret telling anyone.

Hello can anyone tell me the importance of sipping your beverages. I feel like when I sip it is so hard to get in my 64 oz but if I take regular drinks not a problem. I am not sure why everything says sip, any ideas out there? Thanks!

I buy the Lean Cuisine and Smart Ones, I try to make sure they are just meat and veggies....no noodles or rice. I did buy a couple for the just gotta have it moment, but when I do make these I take the protein out and weight it to my 3oz and then do the veggies and if there is any part of the ounces left then it is not very much. I try to make every meal 4oz (doesn't always work, but I do try). I also try to leave the gravy/sauce behind.

I have no regrets! I have been missing sodas and pasta but I feel with more time that will go away. I had to pay $11,000 for my surgery and feel it was worth every penny!
-
Dave, I know how you are feeling....I felt the same way before I had the surgery. I have no regrets at all...I do still miss soda but I am hoping as more time goes by that will get less or go away totally. It has been hard doing the 3 meals 4oz each one and no drinking 30 min before, during and 30 min after. I still feel this was totally worth it and am looking forward to a more active lifestyle. Tif

Also on your mixed drinks make sure that they do not use any carbonated mixes in it....like I love Mojitos but they use soda water...so no more Mojitos!

I was able to add cottage cheese, oatmeal and scrambled eggs at week 3 and regular foods at week 4. But you need to check with your doctor....from what I have seen on here it seems each doctor has a different set of guidelines.

The weight limit on the Wii Fit is 330lbs.

I just bought the Wiii Fit and I love it, it does make your work out and have fun doing it....which I thought was surprising!

Vegas Mom trying to decide if LB is right. Worried about complications.
tlhamilton replied to tehchaymommy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am in Vegas also and I am very happy with my choice of lap band. I, as many others, thought about my health...it seemed every doctors appt. was something new popping up. I also thought of quality of life....as a heavy person I felt I was missing out because I would tire so easily or just not want to do anything because of my size. Talk to you doctor and I am sure they can help aleviate some of the fears....or at least put your mind at ease a bit. -
Hard to stop drinking with meals!!! Please Help!
tlhamilton replied to toot3276's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I keep the drink in the other room till at least a half hour after I eat, I have found it hard when I go out to eat with family/friends because there are drinks all over the table. I had a very hard time last night, my niece had a pepsi and it looked so good.....but I held it together and did not drink any of it. :-) -
Approved, Approved, Approved
tlhamilton replied to justpeachytexas's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
congratulations! -
I had to pay 11,000 and my insurance paid 5,000. I do not regret it all. I feel it was worth it.

I feel like I am losing slow also, but that is why I chose the band I wanted to loose slower. Are you measuring your food...I try to eat only 4 oz at each meal (3 protein 1 other). I have had one fill and still fill no restriction, but I have heard it can take multiple fills to find the right restriction.
