wow. i wish you and your friend healthy and positive results.. i chose the lap-band because i am not a big fan of non reversable things. that's just me. My sister is going for the seminar on 10/29.. and i may have recruited my husband.. lol. I've learned so much from this forum.. and the biggest thing i learned was it's all how motivated and determined you are. i'm sure you will do great. keep in touch.. i would love to see how everything goes for you..

So am i expected to have issues?
dragonflylover replied to dragonflylover's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thank you everyone. you all had some really good information. I made up my mind over a month ago that i am doing this surgery.. and i went through all the necessary medical clearance so far... that's a commitment in itself. I am completely ready for a life change and the ups and downs that come with it. I guess i was just frustrated for other people who were unsuccessful with the band. Unfortunately i am the type of person that NEEDS to know everything.. hense why i am on here all the time.. lol. it's probably a good thing when it comes to major things like getting WLS.... I am just going to remember all the good advise. and remind myself that nothing comes easy in life.. i always had to work hard for the things i have.. and that's ok. because then you feel so much more accomplished. I am extremely excited, nervous, anxious and every other emotion that comes with it... but most of all. I am determined... :scared2: -
Hey! I see we have similiar situations..(although you weigh a lot less. i used to be 210 then the summer happened)...hahha i am 5'1" and 250 (my biggest ever!) it's nice to know your not the only one.. hee hee. ohh i live in NY too.. but long Island.. good luck with everything.

dragonflylover posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
so I had to fast today until my 12:30 appt for stress test. I am just able to eat.. and i am eating this subway sandwich like there is no tomorrow!! i wasn't able to have my usual coffee in the am. or Breakfast.. i get up at 7:30am.. so this is a loooooooooong time. I am sooooo determined to do this and be successful.. but i don't know what it is.. lately i feel so guilty about everything I eat.. cause i know i should be changing my habits now. and i have a little here and there. I almost feel like.. not matter how restricted my band will be. i will still always feel hungry.. and feel like i am starving myself. anyone out there with this problem?? thanks! -

dragonflylover replied to dragonflylover's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes.. i think a lot of people feel that way. we are so used to "diet" where you know you can never eat again.. hah. we did choose it for a reason.. and i will try and stay as positive as possible. good luck with your pre-op diet.. and the surgery.. keep us updated!! -

dragonflylover replied to dragonflylover's topic in The Gals' Room
Lien -- aaaaaaand what are you doing in the powder room???? hmmmmm? hahahah it's a given no matter what weight..men have an endless sex drive. lol :sneaky: Rafa2- thanks for something to look forward to. i think i will feel the same. regardless of an saggy skin or whatnot. atleast i won't feel like a balloon. lol. and that will make my hubby love the band as well.. he thinks i still won't be confident cause of extra skin. i don't think the skin will be that bad.. who knows. THANKS!! -
Does the weight loss increase your sex drive?
dragonflylover replied to dragonflylover's topic in The Gals' Room
WOW, i was totally expecting a different response.. was kindove hoping it increases.. hhaah. if you don't mind me asking.. is there a lot of loose skin? and do you feel more insecure about that then prior to the surgery? sorry to hear about your libido and hair loss.. -
ok... reality starting to kick in now
dragonflylover replied to dragonflylover's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thank you all for the responses... i feel much better about what i am prepared for. i really like the idea of a timer.. because being a mother, wife and homeowner.. i NEVER keep track of those things.. i will also replace 1 of my meals with a Protein shake. (whey protein-- chocolate.. MMMMM) I also want to come to terms with all these changes prior to surgery so i can be as successful as possible. adding exercise now will help too... i will do all in my power to try and prevent loose skin... thanks again!! -

Any November 2009 Bandsters??
dragonflylover replied to 120inside's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
looks like i might be joining you all in November. i scheduled all my required dr appts within a 2 week period. so by Oct 15th i will have all my appt's in. then i sit with the surgeon again to go over results and schedule appt. yey!! i am extremely excited. i was talking to my neighbor today and she already started joking about how i am going to be skinny.. that word skinny hit me so hard.. i have never in my life been called that!! ahahhaha. so how does everyone feel about being banded before the holidays? i am actually ok with it. i will liquify my mashed potatoe and sweet potatoe.. i don't care. as long as i lose this weight already!!!! cheers! -
Very Upset still after severe complications with surgery
dragonflylover replied to megana911's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so sorry to hear you had a bad experience... i cannot relate in any way. i am still in pre-op stage. I hope everything gets better from this point on. you made the decision to have the band for a reason.. don't foget that. you unfortunately went through some major complications...but i feel everything happens for a reason. you may not know it right now.. but maybe it will make sense in the future. this experience is still so new.. give it time. you're going to do great. i hope you feel better soon. -
I am really excited about this new journey i will be facing.. When i tell people about the LAP-BAND® all i get are negative reactions. always about the seriousness of it, or how they knew someone who it didn't work.. and had only compications.. or even someone who died from it... i don't get it. why does everyone have to be so negative? what's the point in trying to convince me not to do it if you don't know the facts.. is it even possible for someone to die from the LAP-BAND®.. i can't see how.

How are cravings after being banded???
dragonflylover replied to dragonflylover's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
thanks everyone for your honesty. I figured craving wouldn't go away..lol. i just needed to see it from other people perspective. i've done Weight watchers before and understand exactly what you say by the cravings getting better with time.. best wishes to everyone -
Help please, tons of questiosn about what to expect...
dragonflylover replied to ldswims's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I suggest going to a seminar. At the seminar you can ask a billion questions... and you have the advantage of other people asking question you may not have thought of. I researched this whole forum.. pics, pre-banding, insurance, surgery day stories.. pretty much everything but complaints. i don't need that extra worry. besides, from what i read, it depends on the surgeon, the person, and how well you go by the rules.. i know i am determined and will do great. by experience, the more research i have done the more i was convinced the lap-band was for me. try not to let everyone else's opinion cloud your judgement.. i'm sure you will have people give you negative stories. it didn't stop me. i just learned not to go around telling people. haha. so basically.. my suggestion is to do as much research as possible. you tube has some animated videos of the procedure.. good luck with your decision. -
I saw Dr Holover (NY bariatric group) yesterday.. He is very nice, very informative and extremely precausious. He explained the procedure..risks and positives. I pretty much knew about all of it.. thanks to this forum.. lol He gave me a list of Dr's to get medical clearance from before a 2nd consult.. where he will go over results and give me a surgery date. i have to see: Cardiologist -- date set for tomorrow Pulomonologist -- Oct 9th Endocrinologist Psychologist Nutritionist and i have to have an endoscopy...(scheduled Oct 13th) it's a lot of clearance.. but I know they do this so they know for sure a person is healthy and reduce risks of complications.. can't wait!

I am in SHOCK! I got my Insurance approval!
dragonflylover replied to corinne211's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WOW that is shocking that it happened so fast. your dr. doesn't recommend a medical clearance first? i know my dr. wants full workup.. if they don't suggest it.. i would say something. good thing you didn't jump in to it so quick. i would be so tempted. i can't wait!!! good luck! -
