Thin like water. I find it tastes best over lots of ice. -
Any January 2018 Sleevers?
NewBeginnings2018 replied to VSGnewguy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Great advice on the hernia diet! That is what I've been telling people my procedure is on Monday but didn't realize they were on a special diet afterwards too! That will for sure be my story for the times when people are wondering why I am not eating. Perfect!! Regarding the drinking thing, being 10.5 years out from the lap band I know that I'll be able to drink at some point down the road. I didn't drink on new year's even and thought people would say something or notice and guess what, no one cared! I was prepare to say I was driving if anyone brought it up but no one noticed. Granted I'm sure there will be situations where it will come up but my plan is to say that I've been working really hard to lose weight and one of the things i have given up for now is alcohol. I think people will understand that and given the fact that I will have lost weight, it's going to make sense. Personally I am going to try really hard to not drink for the first year. I understand the value of the honeymoon period a lot more than when I got my band. I also know I need to work really hard to create new habits over the first year, and keep those habits moving forward if I want to have long term success. I figure if I could give it up for having my daughter, I can give it up for me. -

No, they definitely taste different. More fruity. Over ice seems to be the best tasting for me. -

I'd love a secret group too!! I'm scheduled for Monday the 8th and got stuck in LA today due to the storm coming at home (Boston). I begged the uber guy to stop at a drug store so I could buy protein drinks. Lol My pre-op testing was supposed to be tomorrow but clearly that won't be happening. My surgeon's office is great though, they are going to try and get me in on Friday (I'm taking red-eye home tomorrow hopefully) or worst case the morning of surgery. They said it's not not ideal but they would try and work with me. Such a relief!! I was bawling in the airport when they said yes flight was cancelled. -
Cat out of the bag

That's so great to hear! I was soooo nervous to tell my hubby about my lap-band back when we were dating and he was fantastic about it too. He's also very supportive of my choice to go to the sleeve. Sounds like you found yourself a great man! -

Omg I'm on day two and it's SO hard! I'm so hungry and have a terrible headache. I'm sticking with it and just thanking god that my group only requires one week of pre-op diet! Lol -

Double revision. Band to sleeve to bypass..

Oh my goodness, what a journey! I'm so sorry you had to go through all this! Was your GP revision in MX or here in the states? The positive of all this is that you are done with the tough part and from here on out, every day will get easier! -
Wow, great results and even better news about the medicine! Congratulations!

I too have been in a big panic, and I've had multiple surgeries including a lap band 10.5 years ago, but was still in an absolute panic over this. I have been doubting my decision and myself, then had a nice chat with one of the nurses in my doctor's office who helped alleviate some of my fears. And then I saw a picture of myself from the other day and that was all the motivation I needed to move forward and power through until surgery. I am tired of not feeling comfortable in my skin and beating myself up for not being able to lose weight and keep it off. I am ready to make changes and ready to finally face this demon head on. I deserve it - and so do you! xo

I have very thinning hair in the front of my scalp so this makes me sooo nervous! It's female pattern baldness which sucks. Just looks very thin now but am petrified it could get worse. Am seriously thinking about using rogaine on that portion only once I get post surgery. Going to chat with my doc about it.

How did you feel six or seven weeks out??
NewBeginnings2018 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
What was/is life like for you at 6 and 7 weeks post surgery? If you had to travel, how would you prepare? I have a conference at the end of February and will be almost 7 weeks out. Already trying to mentally prepare for how I am going to manage things. Thanks! -

My pre-op diet is only one week and I start New Year's Day. Eek! 2 protein drinks and one protein based meal. Will be a challenge but I have my eye on the prize! Good luck everyone! -

Yes, good luck! I have to travel for 2 days of the journey so it will be a challenge to say the least. I've been very good this week (and am down 3.5lbs!) knowing next week I will have a rough two days. Cannot believe it's 10 days out!! Eeek! -

Any January 2018 Sleevers?

January 8th here! Have had my lapband for 10.5 years, but couldn't tolerate a fill since about month 18. Had kept off only 10 pounds from original high weight before starting this process to convert to sleeve. Am nervous and excited at the same time but ready to do this!! -
Hi All, I'm just starting the whole process of applying for the lap band at BIDMC. I was wondering if people could give me feedback on their experience, both good and bad (if applicable). Also, which doctor did you use? I'm not sure which doctor I would like to request. Thanks!
