Boogie is crapping his pants right now on live television! lmao. I love it!!!
-
Cindy - glad you were able to make it out of there safely. lol. I look, but don't dare touch any of those threads! Kat - you look GREAT! I was just saying to Sherry last night that I have become very good at not "seeing" myself in the mirror. I'm not looking forward to seeing my "before" pictures either, but maybe a huge reality slap will do me good. lol Eileen - the telethon sucks me in too. lol. My sister actually designed some of the jewelry Jan Carl wore on the telethon. She called a couple of times to make me switch the channel. lol. Jan's been wearing her jewelry on Entertainment Tonight and I guess she wants to buy some as Christmas Presents for people. Pretty cool, huh?! Sherry - Jake is my boy! He is such a cutie and that face just gets me. lol. Well ladies I have some dishes to do so I will catch you all later. Chris

You know after watching last night, I felt really bad for Erika. Boogie is telling her that he has all these feelings for her, and how he wants to be with her outside the house, etc. It's just horrible how he is playing with her emotions. I think Erika has pretty low self-esteem to begin with, so she is falling for it, but that's no excuse. But then again, we all watched the same thing happen with Drew and Dianne a few seasons back. At least Drew was hot. lol

Massachusetts Bandsters Chat

Hey Rainbow and Dreaminbig - glad you found us! Jim - The time leading up to the band is challenging, but as a very wise friend once told me, if you weren't concerned about getting the band then there would be a problem. The emotional rollercoaster of emotions means to me that you are understanding what a change this will be and what a big decision it is. Take this time to really do some soul searching. From what I'm told by many people is that after banding, food is no longer a big part of your life. While I know this will take some adjustment, I look forward and only hope that will happen! Dreminbig - which doctor at BIDMC are you using? I am using Dr Jones, although I thought Dr Schneider was nice too. I really do think everyone is great over there. So one of the reasons SherryW and I wanted to start this thread, is that there are so many hospitals in our area that do these surgeries and we SherryW and I would like to develop a support group to meet at Sherry's house in Taunton maybe once a month. I guess we'll see what interest there is for that. Well I'm going to make some Breakfast. I cannot tell you all how much I am loving this long weekend! Chris -
What a cutie!!! I wish I could have a pet in my apartment... So with Mandy I think I'm no longer officially the newbie. Although she may have already posted more than I have. lol. Thank you everyone for the well wishes. I know this next month will go quickly. I got my approval letter today from Tufts - there's just one problem. They approved me for Gastric Bypass. Umm.... Not sure how that happened, lol. I'll have to call on Tuesday and find out if the hospital sent over the wrong thing or if the insurance company made a typo. On another note I made some lentil Soup today to freeze for my liquids stage. I calculated the nutritional information and for a one cup serving it is 100 calories, 11 grams of Protein, and 1 gram of fat. Not bad! And it is very, very tasty. It's a thick soup, because it is blended, but there are no chunks so I'm thinking it will work for liquids. I'll have to run that by the nutritionist. But if anyone likes lentil soup, I'd be more than happy to share the recipe. Just let me know. Chris

Hi Joy, My boyfriend of 5 years and I broke up about a year ago, so I completely understand how devastating it is. I have never had to go through anything more difficult in my life. Like you, our first three years were wonderful and the last two were less than perfect. We got along great, but in the end we wanted different things out of life. We had broken up in the past (always at my doing - funny he didn't want to commit to be more serious, but he never would have ended the relationship) but alway seemed to get back together. This breakup was the result of a HUGE fight (and we never normally fought) and it finally stuck. I think we both knew we had to let go. The first few months were horrible. I functioned, but spent a lot of time listening to music and crying. lol. (Lauryn Hill's Ex-Factor sums up our relathionshiop just perfectly!) I just didn't know what to do. Right around Christmas we ended up reconnecting. It started innocently, but then one thing led to another.... We weren't back where we started, but we were heading in that direction for a couple months. But I learned very quickly that things never change, especially my ex. While it was very difficult to move on, I know it was the BEST thing I could have done for myself. I've always had great self-esteem, which was wrecked by this relationship. I am getting that back and know that I will never, ever, ever settle in another relationship. I deserve more. To this day I am still saddened over our realtionship not working out and still find myself crying here and there because I know I really, truly and honestly loved him with my whole heart. BUT I am also able, at the same time, to not fall for his games anymore. He still will text message me and try to set up dates, even though I know he is dating someone and I myself am dating again. At this point all I can say is whatever, and be glad that I was able to get away from the rollercoaster. Life is much happier these days and I know the same will be true for you. Keep your chin up! Chris

Janelle has to vote out Will. There should be no other option for her. Even though Will may be disliked, in the end he played a great game which may sway some votes his way. Janelle has played a better game than both Erica or Boogie, so she's a clincher over them. She seems to be a smart player. I guess we'll have to wait and see.......

Good morning ladies, On the hacking issue, I tried to log onto the site last night around 12:30 or 1, and it sent me to some foreign site as well. I think someone officially "hacked" the site. There are a few threads about it this morning. My guess is that will all the bullcrap that's been going on lately, someone decided to try and get some "revenge" on LBT. Hmmmm.... Anyway, enjoy your Sunday! Chris

Thanks princess and the p for bringing this back to Big Brother. lol. Actually online they have a link for you to view the episodes without commercials. It's great! I missed the last two episodes so I just got to watch them online. I've never been a fan of Will, but I will agree that he deserves to win. Can't wait for tomorrow night!

Rainbow - that is so wonderful to hear!! What a great surprise! I hope you will be able to have everyone home for the holidays. Family truly is so special. Send my best to your partner! I hope she is feeling better soon. Diverticulitis is not very fun so I hear. I spent part of Thursday night in the hospital as well. My best friend's mom, who is like my second mom, is battling Ovarian cancer. She had a cyst that grew large with Fluid, which they inserted a drain for. She also had to have stints placed in her kidneys so the drains to her bladder would not close. A side effect of radiation, but certainly not fun. She's had so many surgerys and chemos, etc. I just feel so horrible for her, but try to be the best "second daughter" that I can. Well one month from today my friends, I will join you all in Band-Land! lmao. I guess I should get cracking on losing the 10lbs before surgery. I am such a procrastinator! lol Talk to you all soon, Chris

Hi there NJ gals! I know I haven't posted in a while, but I have been popping by and reading everyone's posts. Happy September to you all! While I am sad that summer is over (and even sadder that the past 2-3 weeks have felt like fall) I am starting to get excited for Fall. Summer is my favorite, but Fall is a close second. The cool, crisp air is just awesome! I have finally confirmed my date for surgery. October 2nd. A month from today exactly. I can hardly believe it! I am very excited to get started! Well it's about 2:30 and I am still in my jammies. I think it's time to hop in the shower and get out of the house. lol. Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend! Chris

I'm a huge fan of Big Brother as well. I wasn't sure how I felt about an all-star season, but it's been pretty good so far. I just can't believe how blind everyone is to Will and Boogie's manipulations. I loved Danielle and was very sad to see her go. Janelle really is a fantastic player - you can't take that away from her. Boogie needs to go - he's useless and such a geek! lol. Erica - you are totally being played ala Diane and Drew. At this point, I think Will and Janelle should be in the final two. They are the two best game players. Will should win just for making it so far after playing the same way he played in his previous season. Duh people! And Janelle deserves to win because she started day one with a big target on her back, and she has played a great game AND won competitions. Go Janey! Obviously I don't have much of a life. lmao Chris

Jim - I was where you are not too long ago. It feels like I've been on this journey for a long time, but in reality it's only been a few months. It will go by quicker than you think. I thought long and hard about this decision and have felt every emotion in the book. But I know I made the right decision and I know I am ready to let go of food. Definitely keep me updated on your progress! Nurse4126 - you may not have lost weight as fast as some others on this forum, but you are still working at it and that is just as important. Don't beat yourself up. Just keep at it. Well I hope everyone enjoys their long holiday weekend!!! Chris -
Nanaviv - congratulations on quitting smoking!!! That is a HUGE accomplishment! The health benefits alone from that will be great. I've seen it in people after they have quit. Keep up the good work! Sherry - waaasssssup?! lol. Long time no talk. he he... Don't know about a bikini for me, but I am planning on breaking a few hearts once I get to goal. lol. How much fun will we have clothes shopping now?! I swear Sherry and I talk more online then we do in person and over the phone. lmao. But it's great, and we are always using eachother as a sounding board for whatever is going on in our lives. It is great to know that I have such wonderful support. I'm not sure if you other girls know, but my mother is having the surgery as well. (I'm 32 by the way) She is going in one week before me, and I'm really hoping she does well with this. She has diabetes, arthritis, bad knees, a bad back, and is very immobile for her age. (She turned 59 today!!) Seeing her difficulties is one of the major factors for my decision to get the surgery. I don't want to have these same problems. So tonight my mom and I ordered our Protein drinks. Between the two of us we ordered 24 boxes. lol. We did a combination of cold, fruity drinks and the hot chocolate. My father almost died when he saw how much they cost, lol. I knew because years back I was on a high-protein diet and had to drink these in between meals. They really did help keep me full, and made me pee. lol Well I hope everyone is having a great night! It's a little chilly for August, but at least there is no rain. Let's keep our fingers crossed for this weekend! Sherry and I have plans for Sunday. lol Chris

I'm here Sherry! lol. Sherry is a great source of information. I ask her questions all the time. She has done a lot of research and she is an excellent band patient! It's been so helpful to me having Sherry to talk to, which is probably why I don't post as much as she does. lol. It's also been very good being with her when she has PB'd or the such - because I know what I'm in for! lol Nanaviv, I feel like I've been on this road for a loooong time. lol. But it will go faster than you think. Rainbow and Deezadoo - keep me updated on how you're feeling. What's hard, what's easy, etc. It will all help prepare me for banding. 32 days and counting............lol Chris

Open vs Closet Bander Questions
NewBeginnings2018 replied to gonnabethin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am definitely a closet bandster right now, even though I am pre-band. My immediate family and my close friends know, but other than that I am keeping it to myself. Not because I'm afraid of being judged, but just because this has been a very personal decision for me. I'm sure after I get banded more people will find out, but for now I'm keeping it under wraps. -
Deezadoo - 24lbs is GREAT!! You must feel wonderful! I was in yesterday and saw the whole gang. I have my "official" date - October 2nd - and am looking forward to joining you girls on the weight loss train. lol. I've been trying to lose some of the 10lbs, and managed .5 - oh well - better than nothing I guess. haha But I am really excited to be on the 6 week countdown. I have seen my attitude towards food change a lot already, and I can't wait to beat this vice. I know it will be challenging getting through that liquid phase, lol, but I'm readay!! Rainbow I'm glad to hear you're doing well too!
-
Hey Sherry! Glad you popped by for a visit. Sherry is one of my great friends, and has been my lap band guneau pig. lol. She has done great! She was banded in February and has already lost 56 lbs. She rocks! She has also been a great source of support for me, and sometimes me for her. We were just joking today that we are each other's phsychiatrists. lol. Rainbow - I loved Michelle! She was great!! I have to say, with the exception of phsychologist, I have liked everyone. Nanaviv - welcome to the board! It seems like I started the process so long ago, yet at the same time it has gone quickly. I think it's because so much has changed in my mind, it seems like I am already so much different if that makes any sense. I am on the six week countdown!! I can't wait!! Chris
-
Thank you ladies! I love being an auntie. Deezadoo - I didn't realize you had an infection. Ouch. So it's starting to get better? You're doing fantastic for just under a month! 21 lbs is great! Rainbow is hot on your trail though, with 10lbs in just a couple weeks. I cannot wait to join you ladies!! Well I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! Chris
-
Good morning all! Just stopping in to let you know that I have my appt w/Dr Jones next Wed, but have already spoke to his secretary about a date. I am taking two weeks off from work, and am not telling them what I'm having done, so I had booked the first two weeks in October off months ago. I guess there are four of us meeting Dr Jones next week, so I will definitely be able to get either the 2nd or 3rd of October, which is just what I wanted! I am so excited! How is everyone feeling these days?? Chris P.S. Other exciting news around here - my younger sister had her first baby late last night!! I'm such a proud Auntie!!
-
Dezadoo, my appt is at 11am. Too bad! But I'm sure we'll certainly run into each other one of these days. Technically - I can't go to the support meeting. lol. Not for another couple of months! :Banane27:

Hey New Jersey ladies!! Sorry I haven't been around to post in a while. I've been reading along, just not posting much. Had a real busy run with the dating, but they've all seemed to fizzle out so I'm having much more free time on my hands. lol. Anyway.....can we all check out my girl Sherry?!?! Doesn't she look great!! I know you really hated to post the pics Sherry, but I am telling you that everyone can see a difference. It's hard, because I know we all feel thinner than we actually are. Then we see a picture and say, who's that chubby girl in that picture! lol But like I said - remember before you were banded and you would have given your right arm to lose 50lbs, in 5 months no less?! You are doing great!! Keep up the good work!! You know I love ya! So I have my appt with the surgeon on the 23rd of this month. I can't wait. I'm looking to have surgery the first week in October. I know it will come quick, but it seems so far away. lol. Well I hope everyone is doing well. Oh - Heather - I saw your post on the Before and After thread. You look awesome!!
-
I just made my appt today with Dr Jones. It's for Thursday the 23rd of August, which still puts me on track to get surgery the beginning of October. It's been tough scheduling all the appts at work. My boss is starting to ask me if I'm ok. lol. I've decided not to tell anyone other than my close friends and family. How about you guys? Did you tell a lot of people?

Relationship Question: Full on communication to None
NewBeginnings2018 replied to TexasRose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
beep, beep, beep.....PROCEED WITH CAUTION....beep, beep, beep. Haha - seriously though. You need to follow your heart, but also use your head. Make him work for it, and if you're looking for a relationship DON'T give it up until you can trust him. -
Relationship Question: Full on communication to None
NewBeginnings2018 replied to TexasRose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi TexasRose, First of all - it's his loss. I am single and dating as well, and men are just weirdos. I had a similar thing happen to me. Phone calls every day, texting, emailing, wanting to see me all the time, and then all of a sudden it stopped. Really weird. (wait a mintue - you don't live in MA do you?! lol) But honestly - good riddins. Who needs a guy like that?! He's contacted me since, but this shop is closed for business! lol. The old addage of there being plenty of fish in the sea is true. This one is definitely NOT a keeper.
