Congrats Kellie, Roxy & Kilcollins!! Way to go Houstongirl - 15 lbs is great! Threebeauties, I'm from MA as well. Where do you live? I'm in Mansfield. Also, where did you have your surgery? -

I had surgery one week ago tomorrow, and have been recouperating well. The problem is that I have no appetite. Well, rather nothing is appetizing. I get hungry, very, but find that I can stomach very little. When I do eat, I can only eat a small amount. Half of a yogurt or pudding cup, a 1/2 cup broth, 1/2 of a Protein drink, etc. I noticed the past couple of days that I am developing horrible bad breath and that I have to lie down after doing something as simple as taking a shower. I think obviously I am not getting enough calories in. For those of you who have gone through this, did it last? Can you maybe suggest some ideas of things to eat on full liquids. I never in a million years imagined that I would have such a problem. Thank you! -
Sorry to hear about your back Eileen. Isn't it horrible how easy it can be thrown out sometimes. I had a massage once that felt so fantastic, but the aftermath was horrible because it threw my back out. I couldn't stand up straight for 3 days. lol. I hope you feel better soon!

Way to go Cowgirl! Welcome to bandland! -
Welcome Dreaminbig! Congratulations on your band date. Nov 8th will be here before you know it. It seems like just yesterday I was 3 weeks out myself. The time does go quickly. I'm glad you decided to join in on our discussion! The more the merrier! To my other ladies - when did you guys take the steri strips off? I have a few that are starting to come off and I'm trying not to help them along. I was curious what you all did.

Hey Nana! Good to hear from you! Of course you have stuff to contribute, even if it's just saying hi. I'm at the stage right now where I am starving, and trying to stick within the 600-800 calorie range on liquids. It's funny how I've been beating myself up for eating 850 or 900 calories because I had an extra cup of soup or something. I'm all worried I won't lose any more weight. HELLOOOO...it's 900 calories!!! lmao. I'm back to full function too, and moving around a lot, which I think is making me a bit hungrier. It's only been one week of this liquid diet and man does it suck! lol. I go a week from today for my follow up visit. Hopefully it will be on to mushies. Dez, Rainbow, and of course Sherry - when you start on mushies does the heavier food keep you more full than the liquids or is it just as hard to not eat?

Wow! Look at all our new bandsters! Congrats bandedmommy, roxy, and kimmichelle! The first week is not easy, but it does get better. Welcome!! Congrats Ms Khris on the pre-surgery weight loss. That is great! -
OMG Mandy Oreo is such a cutie!!! Sherry - I think that's a great reasoning! Disney here we come....lol
-
Hey rainbow. Thanks for checking with Michelle on this one. Great resource as we get a very technical answer. So are you still losing without a fill? You've done great so far, but I'm sure it's not easy. Dez - that is too funny! I do noticet that my stomach makes some weird noises. I just had some Cambell's Select Soup, and it was pureed but there were little bits of corn in there and my stomach started making all these noises. Now I'm all worried the corn pieces are going to slip my band! lol. Man oh man! lol

I actually use hoo-hoo all the time, and cracked up when they called it a va jay-jay on Grey's Anatomy. Too funny! My friends and I have all kind of crazy names for it. We call it a taco sometimes and I've also called it " my lunch". As in, he was going after a piece of my lunch, and I shot him down.

OMG Carlene! It's bad enough to say that, but to a 70 year old woman?! Unbelievable!
-
Kat - I am glad to hear that Rick is doing well. The past few days must have been so horrific for you and your family! I am still thinking and praying for you both!
-
Oooooh Sherry - do you think your hubby would let us sneak of to Disney without him? That would be so much fun!! hee hee

Kayleesmom I still have some gas pains and I was banded on the 2nd. It's my left shoulder and every once in a while it will just kill me! The gas was definitely the worst part for me! AZA - there is no way I could have driven myself home from the hospital. First of all, I was on loads of pain meds. Secondly, it was uncomfortable to sit in certain positions because of the incisions and port. I would try and have someone be there to drive you home if at all possible. Just a shout out to all our bandsters getting banded this week. Good luck! Let us know when you're home and on the road to recovery! -
The last male doctor I have ever seen was at my first gynological exam at the age of 17. He said to me "ok, we have a nice little vagina here" and then proceeded to comment on my grooming habits. Yeah. I'm all set with male doctors. lol

Hi ladies, Dez - what a trip you had! I had a good laugh over the monsoon. What a hoot! Hmmm...so is Dr Jones now filling the band at surgery time, where he wasn't back in February? Oh man....so many questions! lol It was funny - I told Sherry that I totally felt restriction this week. I just thought it was the swelling, which it very well may be, but maybe it's part fill as well. You know what? I am going to mentally believe that I have somewhat of a fill and maybe that will help me along! lmao So my appetite is back. Crap! lol. I'm trying to decipher between the head hunger and real hunger, and am doing ok. I've been keeping my calories around 800 which, if you think about it, is completely insane! Who would have ever thought I could function on so little. lol. I probably ate that many calories in one meal before the band. Crazy, huh? Anyway, overall I'm doing well. I'm glad to see everyone is doing great too.

Bigboy our nutritionists told us to aim for 600-800 calories during this time frame and to make sure that we are getting in 60g of protein. They also said to mostly focus on your liquids the first week out because we probably wouldn't have an appetite, and to avoid dehydration. I had no appetite the first week, lost 17 lbs (wow!), and really had to force myself to eat anything. I was maybe eating 350 calories a day, but did drink a lot of water during this time. But one week to the day from surgery my appetite came back and now I am doing my best to decipher real hunger from head hunger, and to stay within the calorie range they gave us. It is hard to do that and get in the protein without one or two protein drinks a day. If you're not supplementing the cottage cheese with protein drinks or broth or something, personally I do think 105 calories is waaay to low. -
I'm just checking in to see if there was any update on Kat's husband. I will keep praying.

I amazingly lost 17lbs in my first week. Never expected that. -
I now know why most runway models have that serious look on their face. They are too weak to smile. It's from lack of food.

Joanne I am a week out today and still have the gas, although the pains have not been that bad for the past couple of days. I agree that was, by far, the worst pain I had in recovering. I was on full liquids by the time I left the hospital, so I have been able to have pudding, yogurt, and any soup without chunks. I pureed some soup tonight, but it had a few chunks that I ate and I am feeling soooooo guilty!! Today was the first day I had a real appetite come back, so I have been fighting the real hunger and the head hunger, trying to figure out which is which. I took a second week off from work, but definitely think that I would have been able to go back to work today or tomorrow if I needed to. I'm glad I took the extra time off though, in case people are debating how much time to take off. -
Hey Cindy and Mandy I am a total Disney nut too! I am trying to convince my sister and/or my best friend to take their youngsters to Disney so I can tag along! I had begged my ex-boyfriend to go (he had never been) but he had no interest. Good thing I got rid of him! lol.

Oooh Jess I am so sorry to hear things have been so rough for you! I get naseous from anestesia (I knew this from a prior surgery) so they gave me a prescription for an anti-naseau patch to put behind my ear before surgery and it worked great. They also said there is some correlation between getting motion sickness and getting sick from anestesia. I couldn't imagine not having pain medicine the first few days out, so I can imagine you are not comfortable. Hang in there. The gas is bad, and the surgery was not an easy one to recouperate from. I am a week out today and today is the first day I feel 100% so you will get there. Just do the best you can! Congratulations on your band, and welcome to bandland!
