    A thread for Single Bandsters

Online dating is tough, because no one is dating or "talking to" only one person. That's kind of the point of it. My guess is that it had very little to do with you, and moreso to do with the fact that he probably met one of the other women in person (maybe they hesitated less) and they hit it off. It's a crapshoot sometimes. The holidays can be tough when you're single. I'm ok with it though. I enjoy spending the time with my family and friends, and there is always plenty to do so I'm never bored. It's just New Year's Eve. I have a tough time with New Year's Eve. I hate it! But this year I am going to try and focus my energy on the positive things to come in 2007 - whether they involve a man or not. When the time is right, it will happen!

Good luck laphappy. You'll do great! I ditto Sherry and Dezadoo's replies, except I left the hospital around 5 or 6 pm. Post when you're home and feeling up to it!

Hi everyone! Nana - good to hear you're doing ok. I'm still worried that they don't know what's going on with you, but I'm glad they're looking into it. Dez - it's so funny because my first fill was 1.5cc. That seems so high to me, but (knock on wood) I've had no problems and I've been banded about a week. I hope this fill works better for you! I love June too! She is really nice. I definitely am going to try and make the party in March. I think I'll be able to nab Sherry to go with me!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Wow Jodi - that is not what restriction is supposed to feel like I think. I hope your doctor finds out what is wrong. What's most important is that you are healthy. Please definitely keep us updated!

Wootsie - I'm sorry to hear about the meeting with your PCP physician. I'm a bit confused though - is she your band surgeon as well? I just needed the referral from my PCP and then I dealt directly with my surgeon and his group. The time leading up to the band is tough. You want to eat, eat, eat because you're afraid you'll never be able to eat again. Yet, at the same time you want to lose weight and know that you should be trying harder. Just do the best you can and realize that you are working on changing your eating habits and this will not happen overnight, nor will it happen without hitting bumps in the road - even after you're banded. What's most important is that you dust yourself off and keep plugging away at it. What's most important to remember - is that you can do anything you put your mind to!! Everyone else can go shove it!

My first appointment was in July I think, and my surgery was Oct 2nd. Nice to hear from you Kay! Good luck on the finals! I don't miss those days at all! Hi Vanaz! Welcome! I have Tufts, so can't help you there, but I did hear that Blue Cross is just as "easy" to get approved as Tufts is. Keep in touch with your progress! Everyone at BIDMC has been great, except the psychologist. But that is another story. lol

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hi fellow Oct Bandters! Ok, this week's check in for challenge. I am down 2.5 lbs this week, for a total of 3.5 since we started the challenge. I have three more weeks to lose 6.5 lbs. Doable I think! Hope everyone else is doing well with their challenge!

Pebbles I'm so glad you posted!! I think we can really learn a lot from each other, especially considering that we all understand what each other is going through. In my opinion you should tell him about the band. I know for me it would be a bit embarassing to discuss, but if you don't tell him now I think it will only snowball. If he wonders why you didn't tell him right away, just explain that this is your first relationship after the band and since it's so new, you weren't quite sure on how to bring it up. You want to be completely honest with him, which is why you're telling him now. My guess is that he will be completely cool with it. Let us know how it goes!

Good for you flabuless for not taking him back!! Anyone who is going to cheat on you like that does not deserve a second chance. And you are right that you deserve someone who truly accepts you as you are! You are FABULOUS and if this guy can't see it - good riddins! :clap2:

Hey Dreaminbig!! Great to hear from you, and glad to hear that you're doing well!! Down almost 40lbs already?! You rock!! I agree aaamom! In-person support would be awesome. Since the holiday season is upon us, what about planning on meeting up at some point during the first half of January? Enough time for the hussle-bussle to go away, but not too long because I'd really love to meet everyone. Deb (rainbow) will be able to give us some dates that work for her shortly, and then we'll see what we can coordinate from there. Oh, and by the way -- Sherry is only 5 pounds from Onderland. Yep 5 pounds!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited for her!!!!!!!!!! She looks great!

    December chat

Happy December everyone!!!! Dianne - what a horible feeling that must have been! My mom had that happen at one of our family Christmas parties, but at least it was all family. Thank GOD that man said something! Anne - your story was pretty funny too! I'm sure you saw no humor in it that day though! I would have died! Kathy - Hey there! Congrats on the quitting smoking! How many days has it been now??? Darcy - I know it's a pain, but if I were you I would either write the President/CEO of Hyundai (my father did this with Maytag and they did call him back) or I would contact a local news station. Sometimes they have reporters that help consumers deal with unfair issues. It's a lot of bad press so a lot of times the companies will fix the problem. I feel so horrible that you've had to deal with this! Ugh! Kat - Have fun at the birthday party tonight!!! I just love 2 year olds (minus the whining lol)! I have two 3 year old neices and I bought them each Dora scooters for Christmas. I can't wait to see them open the presents! The kids are so much fun at this age! Beannie - no snow here thankfully, but we had 50+ mph winds. I'm not quite ready for winter to get here. I've been spoiled with the 60 degree weather, but it's going to turn to the 30's starting tomorrow. Brrrr... The restriction has been great so far. I ate about 800 calories yesterday and was not hungry. Hopefully I'll be able to keep it up! Mandy - loved the video. So cute!! Sherry - miss ya gal! Can't wait for Tuesday! Cassie - how ya feeling? Hi to Cindy, Eileen and everyone else!

Terrilen, I think you should meet him! Maybe just for coffee or something quick. You know'll that you'll have no problem chatting with him, and being attracted to someone in person is very different than over the phone. I've been attracted to many a man over the phone, but in person - nope. If you go, and there is still no spark, maybe you can remain friends as it is apparent that you enjoy talking with each other. It's worth a shot - I think you should go for it!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

My fill didn't really hurt at all. It's much easier than getting blood drawn. JDru - don't beat yourself up! Trust me, I have had some major slips myself. Remember that these habits will not go away quickly, and that we will really have to work to change them. We will certainly have setbacks along the way. You're right that you just need to dust yourself off and get right back on the wagon! How has today been?

    The Balls On Some People!!!

NO WAY Pinksoprano!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How rude! I've been known to hang out on the occassional online dating site as well, but luckily I've never come across an ass like that. I've come across plenty of other asses, but not one quite like that. Block him from contacting you again and post a complaint with the site. Then put him out of your mind. If someone is too shallow to see how beautiful you are NOW, they will never, ever be able to see your real beauty anyway.

Hi Dez! Good to see you! Sorry to hear you've been having some trouble lately. I'm only 8 weeks in and I know already that this is no easy journey. Talk to Dr Jones like you said, and he'll be able to give you some guidance. Just keep plugging along - you can do it! I have soup pretty much every day for lunch. Mostly it's because it's easy, quick, and no one at work knows I've had this operation. Everyone just thinks I'm on a diet. lol. So Deb, do you know what days in January you'll be off from work? Since you live the farthest and work crazy overnight shifts, I think we should get your available dates first. Then we can try and plan something from there. It was so great to meet Deb, I can't wait to meet everyone else as well! Speaking of which, Nana how ya doing? I have seen you in a while. Kay - only 18 days left until surgery!!! It feels like only yesterday I was there. It will be here before you know it! Hope everyone else is doing well. Any other BIDMC bandsters feel free to pop in and say hi!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hi everyone! My first day with my new fill has gone well. I'm on liquids for three days which sucks, but I'm hoping for some good weight loss numbers!!! I find that I'm a little less hungry, and that water can curb my appetite quite a bit. We'll see how it goes, but I have a good feeling about this so far!

Hi Cal! What a good topic! To start a thread on this, go to the "General Lap-Band Discussion" thread, and then select the button that says "New Thread" or "Start a New Thread". It's that simple. I'll definitely post on that thread. It will be interesting to see what others do.

    November chat...again....

Hi everyone! Just one more day left of the work-week. Thank GOD! lol Bean - yes the naseau is gone now, thanks for asking. I've had a good day. I can definitely feel restriction and have had no problem getting food down. Granted I'm on liquids. lol. I'm jealous of your short day, but not the snow and ice! I am NOT looking forward to it. It was 65 degrees here in MA today. We've been very lucky so far this year. Watch, I've just jinxed myself. lmao Kat - I have to agree that I think it's so weird how all the doctors recommend something different. I'm on liquids for 3-4 days, then mushies for another 3-4 days. Here's my thought on why the April group are all finding themselves slipping lately. I'm sure you've all lost a good amount of weight and are thrilled with how you look. You're not at goal or anything, but you're feeling so much better about yourselves and you're liking how you look more, so eating right has become less of a priority. You guys will get back on track. I know it! Well I gotta run and cat-sit for my parents. Ugh! Catch you all later!
