I don't know what the problem is. I understand that the "recovery" time for the band is 3-5 days but I needed to take a medical leave from work and now the snotty *&^%$ at the surgeons office wont fill out the FMLA paperwork. What does she care ? Its without pay so it doesnt cost my employer anything !! I am a nurse on a high stress unit (Alzheimers), I work nights, and there are six of us women and we are a serious group of foodies (potluck every tuesday, sundae night first Saturday of the month etc...) If I go back to this high stress, trigger-filled environment a week after banding on a liquid diet Im in trouble. I need to adjust to all of these changes before I jump back into this. I considered resigning but the insurance...Any suggestions on the paperwork issue? Thanx a bunch. You guys rock !! Violet

I had surgery four days ago and I am eating watered down mashed potatoes. I dont know what my damage is. i guess the same damage that demanded banding in the first place. I feel like such a failure in a way but three weeks of liquids only is tough !! I just pray that nothing has slipped or popped. Especially since i have had sex too  I guess we'll see how it goes at follow up. Hang in there and cut yourself a break. We're all going and growing day to day. Hugs Violet

I was told not to chew because it may get stuck AND because it causes you to take in excess air unknowingly (creates the dreaded GAS) I was given the same rationale for no straws. Unfortunately I love both gum and straws Violet

Just to let you know that everything worked out and i have as much time as I need to recover etc... You guys are the best !!:clap2: :clap2:

You hang in there Randi. I was banded 6/22 at about 11am. I am the original water drinker and I have not met my water goals or protein goals YET. I am concentrating on walking, breathing, and keeping the gas at bay. This is a long journey and one step at a time. You made it this far and you'll do great. Hugs, Violet

I am 5' 10" (used to be 5-11). Would settle for under 200 as I have not seen that since I was 20 years old, But would dream of 165-175, which would put me in a size 12/14. Oooh to buy a plain Large shirt !! :clap2:

I was told by my STD company that they would cover me based on the physicians statement. I guess we'll see.... Thank Chris !!

Thank you guys so much for your positive responses and great advice. My surgery is on June 22nd so keep me in your prayers. I have faith that everything will work out for the best and i will concentrate on my surgery right now and nothing else. I'll do what women have done for generations. Whatever i have to Kisses

I only fill out one section of the paperwork the physicians statement is a separate section. It is FMLA and I have STD with an outside company. The *&^% in the office fills it out and the doc signs. I know for a fact that I will NOT be pushing a heavy med cart and lifting patients after two weeks, I dont care what anybody says !!

I am new also. Being banded June 22nd at a Barix right outside of Philadelphia. I was actually fine until my Mommy insisted on coming up here from Florida which suddenly makes it feel like a major life threatening event. Go figure -
No Preop with Barix Clinics. Just clear liquids noon the day before and NPO at midnight before

Violet here !! To be banded 6/22 at the Barix outside of Philadelphia by Dr Brader. I am freaking out beyond measure. :Banane35: Feel free to pray for me email me, carrier pigeon me, whatever you like cause I am reeling in my head. I noticed preop diets aplenty here. i only have clear liquids starting noon the day before and NPO at midnight. I am on liquids for three weeks after so I guess it evens out. Will go pace and post later. Lotsa love PLAINSNEECH@AOL.COM

I am sad today because my sister, a Christian feels that I am somehow betraying God by not allowing him to deliver me from food addiction. She also asks how can we bring Satan under subjection when we cant even tame our own flesh. I am scared and confused. My surgery is 6/22. I was so optimistic as I have had a nearly 20 year battle with fat and food. My husband is my blessing straight from God and supports me 100%. I only told my mother(MO) and she somehow felt the need to tell my sister who had the above as a response. She is not overweight now but had a previous problem with weight that she has been delivered from. I have a horriffic family medical history on both sides related to obesity. My hope is that the band will assist me to a healthy life and keep me here long enough to grow closer to Christ. I just want a chance. The insurance approved me right off without an appeal or anything which obviously surprised me. When I got my surgery date, it was the same as our wedding day. I just felt so good until she said this about me to my mom. I feel so crappy right now. I just want to live a normal life, not be some vain anorexic giraffe supermodel or anything. Any advice or prayers are welcome and appreciated.
