Question- I've been really stubborn lately and determined not to PB. I have been chewing and chewing, eating slower, being very selective with foods, etc. But, my question is, if you feel a golfball/PB coming on...nausea, pain, saliva, etc. Is it better to do everything to keep it down(walk, lift arms up, etc) or just let it come up? As far as pain relief, it is gross to vomit, but it feels so much better quicker than dealing with something stuck. I know excess PB's can cause slippage, but what about a piece of food pushing it's way through the band? This is just a QUESTION that I want opinions on. I am not saying I force food down or make myself throw up.

Randi- I'm sorry you are having a rough time. It looks like you've lost a good amount of weight having only been banded since the end of June. Hang in there. You are having success! Be patient with yourself and your band, but don't give up!
-
Regina- you are looking good girl! I especially notice it in your face. I've been doing really good this week, so I am ready for the October challenge. Happy Birthday Barbaras!!

I have to agree with Carol. I really dislike that I can no longer eat breakfast. I have tried the tea, coffee and all that to loosen me up, but I can't eat in the morning and I've always been a breakfast eater-even if it was just yogurt and an apple. I also find it disheartening that I PB on certain healthy foods while "Bad" foods go down easily. Perhaps I ignored certain information in my research stage, but I also thought I could eat the same foods, just less. But there is so much more to it. Some foods we can never eat again, some foods get stuck, etc. That definitely isn't eating the same foods, just less of them. I know someone will reply and refute everything I just said, but that is my experience. I didn't go in thinking the band was magic, but it really is harder than the doctors and companies lead one to believe.

I haven't had hair loss, but it seems like those of you who are were banded a few weeks before me, so maybe it is a sign of what is to come! I am sorry for those of you who are experiencing it. Hopefully, it won't last long! Maybe Junebies will all have to shave their heads in solidarity! We can do mohawks like Telly! I have been doing the October challenge for 3 days so far. I have exercised at least 30 minutes, drank all my water and got my calories in. I get weighed and measured by my trainer on Monday, so we'll see if it makes a difference! Have a great weekend.

I'm glad you got an unfill Laura. The good news is there is nothing wrong with your band or pouch. Just hope the remainder of the swelling/restriction is TOM. It really hit me hard and I was extra surprised because I have never had much trouble with my periods, so I wasn't expecting such a reaction. We are all here to support and encourage you! Hey 19 pounds is nothing to ignore! Get on board with the October challenge and kick butt! Take care of yourself-no more scares in the middle of the night!

Wow! I wish my weight loss was as obvious as yours! GREAT JOB PINKY!!

There was a guy on Entertainment Tonight or Access Hollywood or one of those shows lat night claiming he was the father of the baby. He was a photographer. I like Anna Nicole. She's so dumb, you gotta love her! HA! But seriously, having a baby and then losing a child within a few days is just tragic! The fact that he was on anti-depressants has been in the news, but I can't believe that had anything to do with it.

Laura- I was going to reply last night, but then I PB'd, so I didn't want to be a hypocrite! I think I just ate too fast since I was so excited about actually being able to eat! My nightmare lasted about 1 1/2 weeks....PMS/TOM combined. I was filled Sept. 4 then had 3 days of liquids. I ate like one day before PMS and then I couldn't eat anything. I don't want you to hurt yourself, so get an unfill if you need it. I just know its hard to go to TJ and all if it is just a temporary swelling thing. Hang in there and keep us posted. Everyone says it takes some time for our bodies to adjust to the weight loss and since we are basically all experiencing a stall right now, maybe it is just the time out bodies are adjusting and we'll get back to losing soon. I've been logging everything on SparkPeople, seeing my personal trainer and not eating bad foods, but at least I am not gaining.

Laura- How are you feeling today? DO NOT underestimate the power of the TOM!! I had a week from hell last week, thinking I needed an unfill, PBing on mushies, gurgling water, etc. My period ended yesterday and I am back to normal today. I guess it was just bad timing getting my first fill during PMS!! Leila- I hope you are doing ok! You seem to be remaining positive through this tough time! Melissa Lea- I'm jealous! I wanna be in Hawaii! Keep up the good work Junebies!
-
Leila- I'm sorry to hear about your problems. I hope it isn't as bad as it sounds. I'm sending positive thoughts your way. Now, I need help. I got a fill last Monday and was on liquids for 3 days. I've been able to eat some things, but I PB nearly everything. Yes, I am chewing, taking small bites and eating healthy foods. It may be a TOM thing, but I'm not sure. How long does that generally last? Your entire TOM? Should I just stay on liquids? Am I swollen? If it is swelling, what are the suggestions to reduce swelling? I don't want to live on liquids, but I don't want to get an unfill if I just need to rest my body. Advice appreciated.

Mine was 9 1/2 weeks and I regret it now....I think I'm too tight:(
-
Why did you have to take off your bra? I had all my clothes on for my fill. The Dr. just lifted my shirt up a little and put a tissue over my waistband so it wouldn't get betadine on anything. Maybe it depends on where your port is, but it sounds like you 2 have RUDE doctors!
-
Thanks Caroline. Best of luck on your fill!

Hi all! I just came back from my first fill. I got 1.2cc I am on liquids for the next 3 days. I just signed back up with my former personal trainer too. I'm sorry for those who are struggling. I don't have any wise words except keep trying and keep posting. Happy Labor Day!

I am a closet bandster...I told NO ONE but you all. I am a very private person and even one of my closest friends teases me that she wouldn't know I was pregnant until I called her from the hospital delivery room. So, it's not just a band thing. I don't tell my personal business to hardly anyone.

Kim- I went alone, but I grew up in Southern California and feel comfortable in Mexico because I've spent a lot of time there. What concerns you the most? What doctor are you using? Feel free to PM me, but I'm sure you will be fine.
-
Can some experienced bandsters give me an example of what you eat in a day? There are threads here and there about what doesn't work or things people like, but I'd like to see exactly what people eat in a given day. Thanks.

Well, I didn't quite make it. I started at 235 and was 225 this morning. So 10 pounds gone! Congrats to all of you you made the goal! Heck, good job to anyone who lost anything. Going down is better than staying the same or gaining!

I've posted a few times and have been adding my smileys! Why aren't I listed too?

I was banded June 29 and hadn't really been hungry until yesterday when I was RAVENOUS. I managed to keep it to 1700 calories, but I was so hungry....and yes I drank all my water! I think its PMS. I decided to have a more substantial breakfast today. That used to work.....

started Dexatrim at 13 Slim-fast Opti-Trim(Like Opti-Fast, but with one meal) Medifast Suzanne Somers my own low-fat diet I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting with pleasure

I think they want us to eat 3 meals and day and not have snacks because snacking may have contributed to our original weights. Also, some people don't eat breakfast, so they want to make sure you do. But, my opinion is, if you are eating healthy snacks like an apple, a 100 calorie pack, etc. and staying within your daily calories, it is ok to snack. Many nutritionists recommend several small meals throughout the day as opposed to 3 squares. Just watch overall calories, protein, etc. and you should be fine. Do what works for you.

We could meet in Taos, NM or Sedona, AZ or Vegas. Those darn Texans are outnumbering us Cali folk.
