Regina- I got the "traveling pants" today. Thank you so much! I'll probably wear some to work tomorrow! One pair of the black ones were too big! Never thought a 16 would be too big!

Barb- Put me down for Celine, spa and the suite. Liquids question- I know this has been discussed before, but when you were all on soups, protein drinks, did you still limit yourself to 1/2 cup or 1 cup? I always hear that liquids go right through the band, but then some people say you still have to limit the amount. I know we need to be wary of liquid calories, but I'm not there yet. I need calories right now! So, if the cream soup goes down, can I have more than 1 cup?

    Dessert

a ramekin is like a little custard cup or small dish like creme brulee is served in. sounds good...and I happen to have all those things in my fridge!

    Post op care

I did it on my own, so it can be done with little support. But, since you are fortunate to have help, you may want to have all the groceries purchased. Lots of clear fluids like broth, popsicles, juice, etc. Maybe a heating pad, liquid Tylenol, Gas-X strips, etc. for pain. Probably just ask your significant other for their patience and understanding as it is just an uncomfortable few days more than painful. Best of luck to you and I'm sure others here will give you some great advice.

Hungry on mushies after a fill...

Mushies slip easily through the band, so you may feel hungry soon after. Are you allowed solid foods? My doctor discourages soft foods because of the fact that they don't stay long in the pouch and you will eat more and thus gain weight.

I would like to see Celine. I'm not necessarily a big fan, but it's just one of those life experiences I think. I would LOVE to do a spa thing too. My preferred date is June 22, but any of the dates are doable for me. I think it will be fun. Today so far I have had a cup of tea, 4 oz. of Light 'N Fit yoghurt and I am currently sipping something called Kombucha I bought at the health food store. It is some kind of tea mixed with fruit juice that is supposed to have enzymes, antioxidants, amino acids etc. I took some liquid tylenol this morning too. Weight update-this morning I weighed 190! I will update the ticker later. Clear liquids sure make the pounds fall off! But I can't wait for food again. 2 more weeks....

Hi all! First clarification: my screen name is SoCal gal cuz I live in Southern California. I can actually be really anti-social! hahaha I am feeling better if you can see. I am back to work today. I had some egg drop soup last night cuz I went out for Chinese with family. I was dying for that food everyone around me was eating, but was glad no one commented on me sipping tea and soup. I'm so excited for the pants Regina-THANKS!!! Barb- I never felt excluded from the Vegas trip, but I'm bummed more people can't go like Regina and what ever happened to housecatgirl? I would actually prefer June 22 because I will be off work then and June 21 is my bday! Let me know the absolute deadline for paying for the suite. I do have a friend in town, but if I can afford the suite, that might be fun too. The earlier June dates are fine if that works better for others. About my slippage, I posted my symptoms on this site under the Lap-Band Complications forum, but they were mainly constant heartburn, not being able to eat solid food and some back pain. Definitely talk to a doc if you suspect slippage. An unfill can be tried to resolve it, but that didn't work for me! I'm suspecting post-nasal drip contributed to my tightness as well. Anyone who has remedies for that-please post. Happy Week!

    mucus blockage ????

I'm reviving this old thread because I have allergies, asthma, post-nasal drip....you name it! Anyway, I want to know what people do besides warm liquids and water. That hasn't worked for me so far. I tried to have hot tea and it sits in my chest hurting until I spit it up with a bunch of mucous(sorry if TMI). Is someone using a particular nasal spray or medication that helps? I have used Nasarel but it does nothing. Should I try Sudafed strips or what?

    Back to the operating table....

How did it go Canadian Bander?

    Back to the operating table....

Yes, I was charged. About 1/2 the price of the original surgery. They were able to save my band thank goodness. I also had to pay $250 for an endoscopy to make sure there was no erosion-which there wasn't. I doubt the doctor would admit a misplaced band.

I totally had a NIGHTMARE last night. Well it was just a dream, but a nightmare to me. I am so crabby from not eating for three weeks. This time is so different from the first surgery. The first time I wasn't hungry at all during the first few weeks after, but I am so hungry now. I had a dream that I was at a party and I was totally scarfing down a bunch of croquettes. Don't ask me why it was croquettes-that part is totally random! I never eat those or crave those! But while I was eating them, I kept thinking, I don't care if it hurts or if I barf...I WANT FOOD! I woke up freaked out. Anyway, as usual thanks for listening to my rant! I am a total food addict and emotional eater and the lap band just put a big exclamation point on it for me. I have been off antidepressants since my surgery, so maybe I need to get back into counseling. I heard on the news the other day that binge eating is now the #1 eating disorder. Oh well...happy weekend to you all. Beware of Super Bowl snacks!!!

    June 2006 Band Crew

Hi everyone! I'm feeling better today. Stayed home from work of course. Then I got my period! I guess it's better to get all the pain over in one weekend! ha! I'm glad I was able to keep my band so I can still be an official Junebee! Thank you all for supporting me through this stressful time. I use SparkPeople too. I've already had 5 cups of water today too, so I'm on track to meet water goal!

    June 2006 Band Crew

I'm home and hanging in there. Still a little sleepy, groggy and dizzy/nauseous. Sipping some broth now. I do feel the difference in swallowing already. It felt so painful for the past few weeks! The doctor said they added some extra stitches to keep the band in place. I had to take sedatives for the endoscopy too, so I was really out of it. I'll try to join you for the water challenge, but I can't eat or exercise yet, so I'll have to wait for the net challenges there. Once again, I truly appreciate you all through good and bad! Hopefully more good is on the way!

Hey ladies, I'm up and about and apparently I still have my band. I am super tired so I will post more later. Just an update on today. Love ya all. M

    June 2006 Band Crew

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts and prayers. I truly appreciate it. I am so crabby after only having liquids for 2 weeks! And I'm in for at least 3 more after surgery! (Assuming I keep my band) I can't wait for tomorrow so I will have some direction about my future. Best of luck Barbara! I am glad you are going for an unfill. I would hate for you to slip due to excessive PBs. Congrats on the new pants Melissa. I am definitely in need of some, but I am so poor now that I have to get a new surgery!
  17. socalgal3

    Back to the operating table....

I am slipped too. Going in tomorrow for a revision or removal(they won't know which til they get in there I guess). I've been on liquids for 2 weeks and I'm miserable. Slipping can be caused by excessive PBing, chronic overeating, improperly placed band, etc. I'm not sure what caused mine either. At first I thought it was due to all the PBs and poor eating habits, but the fact is I never was able to tolerate my first fill and it was all removed after my esophagus was swelling. Maybe it wasn't placed just right in the first place. Who knows. I wish you the best canadian bandster! I am self-pay as well and the bills are piling up!!

    June 2006 Band Crew

Randi...after a PB, did you ever do liquids for a few days? Sometimes you need to to let your esophagus rest before starting to eat again. I definitely agree with everyone here that you ned to go to the doctor. I didn't go to the doctor enough, because I knew I wasn't always following the rules and now I have a slipped band and have to pay for a new operation. Excessive PBing can cause a slip! So, get help before it's too late. We all have felt your pain in one way or another. We aren't here to judge, just listen and try to help. Keep us posted and we are all rooting for you.

I have gone to work every day this week because it helps me take my mind off of it. The heartburn really bothers me though because I've never suffered from it my entire life. Plus nausea, weakness and pain. Somedays I can eat soup and a protein shake, but yesterday I could barely get water down. I am anxious for Tuesday, but I know it will be a long road. Whatever happens is for the best. Seriously pray hard for me Tuesday! If you don't pray, just send positive vibes! I will update you all.

    June 2006 Band Crew

If you look on this website under lap band complications there are alot of posts about signs of slippage. For me, I was unable to keep ANY food down. Plus I had almost constant heartburn which I have not had at all since the initial operation. It was diagnosed under fluoro. I was totally unfilled in October, so I have been on empty since. Obviously that didn't help.

    June 2006 Band Crew

Okay ladies.....the good news-I'm below 200. The BAD news-I have a slipped band. I was too upset to post about it last week, but I am coming to terms with it now. I go in for surgery next Tuesday. They say there is a 50/50 chance of fixing or losing the band, so I will report back next week. I am on liquids now(have been for a week) and have bad heartburn and back pain. I don't know if it is my fault totally, but I admit to eating too much, too fast and PB'ing alot. It was an expensive lesson, so I implore you all to continue to be good little bandsters and chew chew chew, etc. You guys are a great group, so I know you'll help me once I'm on the other side of this mess, just like you have up until now. M

    slippage

I am self-pay, so I have to pay for my new operation. PB is Productive burp, which is basically like throwing up. They told me there is a 50/50 chance of fixing it or losing it. They won't know til they get in there. So I beg you all to be good and follow the bandster rules! You should check with your insurance if they cover complications, re-banding, etc.

    slippage

I am really scared I have a slip! I had a bad PB Tuesday night after dinner. Since then, I haven't been able to eat and I have heartburn which I haven't had in the past. I have no fill, so maybe I'm just swollen. I've been on liquids for 2 days but they gurgle down. I can't get into the doctor til next Wed. Should I go to my general practioner? I'm not sure if I'm paranoid, but I don't want to ignore something that can turn into a bigger problem down the line.

Ok, I suck. I know I haven't been here in awhile and I haven't posted or read the back-posts. I am still stuck at the same number, but at least I'm not gaining. I still have no fill. I said I would make a new year's resolution to get back on track, but I haven't yet. Anyway, I saw that Barbara mentioned Vegas, so let me know the details if it isn't too late. Maybe that will motivate me! Congrats to all of you on doing so well and to those struggling like me-hang in there. We can do it together!

    June 2006 Band Crew

Hi all. I did my regular Sunday 6.4 mile walk. I am committed to rededicating my efforts for the new year. I think I still have food issues and I really think I'll seek help about it. Otherwise, I am afraid I will cause damage to my band. I have this clock in my body that says "It's time for dinner!", even if I'm not hungry. I'll eat just because food is there. It's almost like I need to eat until I'm stuffed or at least always be full. I think it was Jack on LBT who said something about "the fear of becoming hungry". That is what I have. Anyway, thank you all for always being there for my rants! Good job to all of us for all the successes!
