Well, I don't want to complain when everyone is struggling. Don't get me wrong, I'm so glad to be 175. I remember the day when I thought I'd never be below 200. But, I still feel fat. I still have big arms and a big butt! Will I never be happy? haha I am doing good as far as eating, but still no formal exercise. I did a lot of cleaning yesterday which made me sweat-mopping, vacuuming, laundry, trash, cat box, etc. I am wearing the "traveling" Levi's today and they are a little loose. I remember when Regina first sent them to me, they didn't fit! I want to be at goal in 2008!

Desperation- I WANT TO BINGE- Please help!
socalgal3 replied to pashmina's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm glad you got through the night! Just remember, you only had surgery 3 weeks ago! I am assuming you have no fill yet? You are in what's known as "bandster hell". You will feel much better once you have restriction. Head hunger was the hardest part for me to deal with after surgery. A year later, I finally feel like I have the better of it. I am doing hypnosis which has helped me tremendously. Try some meditation/relaxation stuff when you get the binge urge. Take a bath, listen to soothing music, etc. We all have to find what gets us through the night and I hope you find it! -
I did ok this weekend, but there was a birthday party and Labor Day, so I ate too much. Luckily, the scale stayed the same! I made a peaches and cream pie, but used Reduced Fat Nilla Wafers in the crust and Cool Whip Free and sugar-free jello and fresh peaches, so it was pretty low-cal. Everyone gobbled it up! The heat definitely lowers my appetite, but also my desire to exercise. Glad to hear from you Barb 123! Hey Barb465- are you still doing Curves and tai chi? I need someone to inspire me to exercise! My hypnosis lady added some lines about exercise to my latest CD, but my mind is stubborn on that one! Pinky-I love Pei Wei, but we don't have them here! I ate there in AZ once. Good luck with your homes!

San Diego after getting Banded
socalgal3 replied to Chubbyone's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I live in the San Diego area and there are several hotels near the water. Does it have to be ocean or is the bay ok? Because there are several on Mission Bay like the Hilton, Catamaran, etc. Hotel Del is in Coronado. It depends on your budget. I think the zoo would be a hard day right after surgery. There is a tram that you can ride around the park, but you can't see as much that way. It is very hilly there to walk in my opinion. Sea World involves a lot of walking as well and while it is good to walk after surgery, you won't know how you feel. Just take it easy. It is a lot of money to spend to get into the park(around $50) and if you can't stay long or enjoy everything, it's not really worth it. Anyway-GOOD LUCK!! -
Hey! People aren't confessing their sins! I was just ok today. I had 1/2 a protein bar for breakfast, some nachos for lunch(with meat for protein, but I couldn't finish) and some chicken wings(maybe 5) for dinner with some celery and carrot. I got my water in, but haven't taken my vitamins yet. I will do that now. No exercise either. It was 102 here today! UGH!! My weight is actually below what my ticker says, but I don't change my ticker til I see the lower weight for several days in a row. Have a fab Labor Day weekend all!

tight air bubbles in my chest/throat
socalgal3 replied to azkjn1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I seriously doubt you have a slip this soon after banding. Trapped gas is very common after surgery and can take up to a month to dissipate. The best solution is WALK, WALK and WALK some more! Also, try any over-the-counter gas relief medicine. Gas-X makes strips that dissolve on your tongue. Welcome to bandland!! -
I vote that everyone update their tickers too!

I'm still here Pinky! It's you and me, kid! I have had 6 glasses of water today. I'm really tight today due to sinuses! The weather is SO HOT and we are expecting thunderstorms, so it's playing havoc with my asthma/allergies and sinuses. Anyway, I had a protein bar for breakfast, some ravioli for lunch and some All-Bran crackers and hummus for dinner. I took my vitamins, but I didn't exercise because it's TOO HOT! Plus, I have to leave any minute for Back-to-School Night. I'll get the rest of my water in before bed. Have a good weekend Junebies-wherever you are!

Sorry that you are struggling Aimee! I agree with Regina-just get rid of all the sugar in your house. Do you like sweeteners? I know some people are against them, but sweetening your tea with Splenda/Equal/Sweet n Low and drinking Diet cokes can save a LOT of calories. Especially since it is so HOT right now and we are drinking lots of fluids. If possible, drink water. Just throw away the M&M's. I started to gain again a few months back, but I started hypnosis and got a slight fill and I have lost 14 pounds since June. I've been bad about exercise with the heat, but I'm trying. Don't give up! You know what to do-so DO IT!! Maybe we do need a challenge, but everyone has been pretty busy. I'm up for it if everyone else is!! Little steps help too, since it can be so overwhelming. Lately, all I focus on is my protein, my water and my vitamins. If I do those 3 , I'm happy. Now, I'm trying to increase my exercise, my fiber and my fruits/veggies. Just make one change TODAY and add another one next week. Good luck! bcrazy-not ignoring your post, but we might need more info. to really help you. Make sure you are honest with your surgeon and get their advice on your hunger level. Head hunger is very evil!

Just posting to try to make a new page. Hope everyone is doing good. My summer is over and I'm back at work. Still doing hypnosis.

Melissa- Good news on the ankle! Best of luck with the PT and avoiding surgery! Regina- Oh my gosh! That stinks! You have gone through so much. Hopefully they can use Omnipaque or something and it won't leak! Croatica and Barb- Best of luck with the unfills.

Congrats to your son Lisa. And congrats to Pinkylee on selling the house. I went to Lake Tahoe for 4 days. I had never been before. We had a great time. I go back to work on Monday . Good news is....I was 175 this morning! We went to the gym each morning at the hotel we stayed at and went swimming twice, so that helped. I did have a really bad PB yesterday which lasted for 2 hours(sliming, etc.) UGH! I think it was from a chicken wing. Sorry-TMI! Have fun at your Dallas get-together. I wish I could be there!
-
Cathy-maybe you just ate too fast or didn't chew as well as usual. Most of my PBs have come after eating too fast. You have done pretty darn well if this was your first PB! Let's hope it was your last. I'm holding steady at 180. I've seen 178 a few mornings, but not consistently enough for me to claim it(always the pessimist am I!!) Hope everyone is doing well!

I really think I have something else. I noticed I can't take an kind of spicy foods. I really don't try, but even my safe queso started giving me problems a couple of weeks ago. I think Regina may have been referring to Barbara, Leece. I'm having trouble with spicy and acidic foods as well. Orange juice, coffee and spicy are not my friends anymore. Darn band. It's a love and hate relationship. Regina-maybe try liquids for a few days. That may get those final pounds off.

Generally, they will give you an unfill to see if the band will reposition itself. This helps in many cases. In some cases, like mine, another surgery is required to reposition the band. In other cases, the band is removed and may be replaced after a few months. If there is erosion or other complications, it may not be replaced. I would just follow your doctor's advice and take it easy on your band. Liquids if possible. I wish you the best of health and that your band is A-OK!!

I'm sorry you are having problems Barb4. But, I hear many bandsters have trouble with ground beef. Happy Sunday all.
-
We would really need more details Isprin. What is your fill level? Are you exercising? Counting calories? Making sure to get your daily water and protein? What does your doc say? How tall are you and what was your starting weight? We might be able to help with a bit more info. Glad things went well Poodles!
-
I used Liquid Health. multi and calcium. They aren't cheap, but they are easy to swallow and taste good.
-
I'm sorry for all your troubles Poodles. 10 pounds is awesome, but it doesn't sound like the healthy way to lose. Good luck on Friday. I am maintaining at 180, but I am super tight. I'm continuing with hypnosis, but I've been bad about exercise. It's been pretty hot here, so I don't feel like exercising! Hope everyone is doing well!

You both look AWESOME! How great to have each other to lean on during this journey! Keep up the great work!

Owners manual for Lapband... anyone read the part...
socalgal3 replied to VegasGrace's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just be careful not to insist on so much fill that you are too tight. My first fill was only 1.2 cc, but I was way too tight and didn't want to admit it. I ended up with a slipped band. It is smart to take it slow because you don't know how your body will react. Good luck and good health! -
Sorry about that scare Aimee! I'm glad you are ok and on the mend. Best of luck Barbara4! Is Acidphex prescription or OTC? I've been eating Pepcid Complete and drinking Maalox! Ugh! I'm tight again too. Not sure if it was the cabin pressure in the plane, PMS, my sinuses again or what. I put myself on liquids today and tomorrow to see if I improve. I'll try to post some pics of my trip.

It was awesome! I went to Calagry to visit a friend using my frequent flyer miles. We went up the Calgary Tower, went to Stampede(the big rodeo/fair), went to Banff(up the gondola, Lake Louise, Lake Moraine, the hot springs, etc.), white water rafting, went on the luge at the site of the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics, farmer's market, out to dinner, shopping, etc. There is so much to do in the Calgary area, I'll definitely be going back! I leave on Friday for Arizona to stay with my aunt and uncle for my cousin's birthday. Busy summer!

Hi everyone! I am back from Canada and I read through all the posts I missed. The scale showed 180 this morning! Yahoo! Aimee- Congrats on the wedding and I echo everyone's sentiments that you were beaming! A lovely bride who certainly looked happy. Your daughter is beautiful too! Congrats on the job Cathy! Regina- Don't push yourself too hard too soon. You've been through a lot this year! Barb465- How is it going? Keeping off the soft foods? Get yourself back to Curves and Tai Chi! You were on a roll! Pinky- I'm glad things are going better. It is hard for me sometimes not to fall back into depressive mode. You have too much of a positive personality to give in! Barb123-Let's see those 170's! I'm so close myself! I can't wait. Melissa-Are you going to try to go back in and get a fill anytime soon? Anyone I missed, sorry-it's early and I couldn't sleep last night. Where are you Poodles?? Wondering if you are ok. Oh! Momma T- I would say give your band a rest by going on liquids. Then get in to the doctor for a check. Heartburn was my biggest complication from my slip-but also not being able to eat, back pain, etc. So be careful! Ok, I'll shut up now....Have a great day all.
