    Gastric Bypass and PCOS/Diabetes

I have/had pcos and it has mostly resolved since the bypass. I have gotten pregnant twice in my life, both times while on low/no carb diets. It seemed to put my body back into a normal cycle lowering my blood sugar and testosterone. Also, most women experience super-fertility within the first 6 months after surgery...many getting pregnant while not planning or expecting they could. https://www.babycenter.com/0_seven-facts-about-pregnancy-after-weight-loss-surgery_1504874.bc Good Luck!

    Hot Flashes After Eating

Could be? I’ll be 50 this year. It’s so weird that’s it’s only after I eat though.

    Foul Mood After Weighing

You KNOW this weight gain is not real...you cannot gain 3lbs overnight. It is water retention, or BM related and will go back down. Chill, you are doing great!
  4. Hi All! Anyone else get severe hot flashes and/or sweating after eating? I am getting awful hot flashes after eating, like within an hour, and it seems to not matter what I eat. I am on a very strict diet; meat, veggies and fruit only so it isn't a high carb thing, I don't think. I am 1 year post surgery and it has started in about the last month. Thanks for any insight you might have for me!

    Another post about stalls!!

here is my weird story...lose 2 lbs...following week fluxuate up 3 lbs. End of said week, down the 3 lbs of flux and then down another 2 lbs. To illustrate: Sunday: 100. Monday: 101. Wednesday: 103. Friday: 101. Sunday: 98. (I'm not really 100 lbs, just an example of how I cannot keep track of the bouncing ball of my weight.) I look at it like, well at least I am losing still.

    Blessed be the chili

Hi All, I make chili about 3x per month, have made it with all meat types, and by far my favorite is 90% lean ground beef. I get lots of compliments and requests to make it for others. Here is my super easy recipe: 1lb ground meat (90% beef is my choice) 1 packet chili mix (Old El Paso is also my favorite and gluten free) 1 jar of Newman's Mild Salsa 1 can petite diced tomatoes (15 oz or so) 1 can dark red kidney beans, drained and rinsed (15 oz or so) 1 can corn if desired, drained equivalent of 3/4 can of water Brown/cook meat. Drain Fat add the rest of the ingredients Bring to a boil, stirring frequently cover and cook on low as to not burn the bottom for 1 hour or until the chili turns a nice thick maroon color. the nutrition on this is: 1 oz is 24 calories and 2 grams of protein.
  7. Hi All, I wonder how you handle someone who says, "You're so skinny. I hate you." It is awkward and I have no idea how to respond...thoughts?

    Sleepy?

maybe check your multi-vitamin for supplements/herbs that might cause energy surplus.
  9. hi all, I am moving onto soft foods and then regular foods. I had a bit of pain for about 5 minutes today after eating something too fast. Now I am really anxious about anything more than puree and hurting my pouch. Did anyone have anxiety about moving to the next step in your diet? surgery date 1/17/17

    Personal question

I suffer from extreme constipation and have had the bypass. I will be adding linzess back into my regimen when I can take pills. Both procedures have the same issues with constipation. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    TV Rant

I have not been much of a TV watcher, but being on leave from surgery I am watching much more. Holy crap, COULD THERE BE ANY MORE food COMMERCIALS ON TV! It's maddening for head hunger. I want everything on the tv, even stuff I know I would never eat. I might have to resort to Netflix or streaming on demand. rant over now, lol

    Early stall

my dr wants 60-80 g of Protein and 50-68 oz Water. Make sure to check the paperwork the dr or nutritionist gave you to check on those amounts.
  13. hey there. I had a hernia repair at the same time as my surgery, but only because it was emergent, as they found out when they got in there. I will have to have it fixed with mesh later on, but for now am babying that spot. It doesn't hurt, just itches. IDK if you had a drain, but that incision is where I had the most of my uncomfortable feelings. Your doctor should have told you to look out for pancreas pain, which is in the upper left quadrant and the doctors should be monitoring that, because they move stuff around, and your pancreas is right there. constant pain, fever, pain up to like a 10, go to the er. No one will fault you for it and insist on a cat scan of your pancreas. https://www.niddk.nih.gov/health-information/digestive-diseases/pancreatitis good luck and feel better!

    So much protein

In my experience I was glad to be put on the pre-op diet for a week before, or 2, I forget. I used the Protein shakes as a Meal Replacement, so you would be getting the same protein, just some of it coming from a shake. It is helpful, because for a week to a month the shakes will be your meals. It is good to get used to them and how to fix them to your taste. Good Luck!

    So I Did It!

hi all! I am now a gastric bypass recipient. So far the difference between the band and the bypass is night and day. No "stuck" feeling, no nausea. It's so different, and in the best way. I am only 1.5 weeks out, but even in this small amount of time, the bypass far exceeds my hopes already. the band sucked, was unhealthy and really not manageable for me. I thought about the revision surgery for 2 years after I got my band removed and gained any weight lost back. Finally went for it ,and I am glad so far. the only fly in the ointment is head hunger. I just keep telling myself that the feeling of wanting something will pass, and its just a feeling, not a biological need. if a scaredy-cat like me can do it, probably anyone can do it! ask me anything, or PM me, I am happy to share my experiences so far. and thanks for being so positive and supportive during my journey, from 2009 to today. Cheers!
