After ending up where I was 6 weeks ago, I went back and got a half CC.. now I have to drink so slowly that I sip 3 milkshakes and eat a few low calorie ice-creams a day (ok, only 2 days ago), but now I am down already ... YAY, on the move again. 221.9 today Have a great week everyone

This Friday sucks, my 1st anniversary of starting the pre-op Optifast diet, and i am bouncing up & down 3 - 4 lbs, yo-yo'ing. anyway, after one year, am down 61 lbs - so i cannot moan about 5 lbs a month on average - just this bloody yo-yo.. Good weekend all. k
-
I have the same issue .. after a quick dip down 3 lbs, i bounced up 2 just in time for my Friday weigh-in.. Not impressed. Oh well, onward we go.. better luck next week.

Stupid band, or stupid me?
Boykie replied to b9409's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having read all this, I agree with most things said here. At the end of the day, it is a tool to assist you on the journey. Personally, i would want to know that the LabBand was not leaking because i could not get beyond one cup of food without exploding - unless it was soup or runny oatmeal or whatever... Good luck - keep on trying. k -
Well, after 10 days in Italy - YAY, I gained no weight .. miracle bloody miracle .. Anyway, this week, down a tad.. 223.7 making it a total of 63 down . this is a slow process - 11 months, 63 lbs .. oh well, better than 63 the other way.. have a good weekend all.

OK, starting early, but dont think i will have time tomorrow.. Down a little, finally broke thru the 60 pound mark .. 40 or 45 to go.. Next few weeks should be interesting - leave next Friday for some R&R in Italy ... bugger, that could be challenging.. Have a great, successful week gang -- Go for it, you deserve it.. k
-
you have done incredibly well - congrats.. even if you are frustrated at being 1 pound shy. I am a mere 50 shy (actually, dunno but it is a long way away).. I am frustrated by not being able to say '50' yet - have been saying 'almost 60 down' for a tad too long now.. COME-ON.. Have a great week everyone... Hopefully next week.... k

8 months banded and I'm still learning
Boykie replied to hallelujah.girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Bandsters. I was relieved to see i am not the only one with issues. I did go thru 3 months of being too tight, and too mule headed to go back to teh doctor. When I did, he backed out 0.3 cc, and I felt so much better.. The reason fr my post now is I was amazed to read that your doctors were recommending 1 to 1.5 cups of food per meal. My doctor goes with about a half cup.. Lap Band Diets, Lap Band Dietary Information, Diets for Lap Band Success, Dietary Plans Interesting differences. BTW, even when I was over filled/too tight and could not eat much, i could still chugg liquids.. Guess we all react differently. Have a great week. k -
So many great words of wisdom posted already, yet i will proceed and offer my opinion & experience. Firstly, this site is great, and people are very supportive. We are here because we have made a decision to avail ourselves of this tool. I too have fought weight since i was a teenager (now 49). I decided I wanted to change my lifestyle and diet until i am 50 - then I am what I am. This LapBand has been great -but it is just a tool. Just as you do can not stop smoking unless YOU want to, I believe the same is true about weight loss. YOU have to want to drop the weight. This is nota magical thing, it is a tool to assist. And, when you have it, dont ignore the signs. I have just wasted 3 months by not going back to my dr. September i had a fill, too much of a fill. I spent a month thinking that it would adjust / come-right. It did not, but for all sorts of reasone, i did not go back until December, when the doctor removed .3 of a cc. Only then could i actually eat the proper food.Due to it hurting me, i had migrated to eating all the wrong things (mashed potato etc). LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. Lastly Since I paid for the procedure, I only informed a few close friends .. typically those I might shae mealtimes with. I just informed the rest that i was dieting, had stopped fizzy drinks (no beer, soda anymoe). It has got nothing to do with them. Good luck to you. Do what is right for YOU. and remember, this is a tool, not a magic spell. it will change what/how you eat. Happy 2010 to all, k

Good on ya JT - doing well. Congrats to everyone for their continued efforts forward.. I have forgotten what I weighed in at last friday, but in the past month I am down about 8 lbs [but had a tight fill that has imposed this on me]. Today 231.7 - let's see where next Friday and thanksgiving take us.. Peace & Best wishes to all. Kevin

you're dropping like a stone - well done.. as for me, i am 233.9 this morning .. dropping the occasional ounce is better than gaining the occasional ounce i guess.. Keep smiling bandsters - sometime is is easier than others, but keep them pearly whites showing.. Have a grand week, and happy loosing to all. k

Yippee. The scale read 235.0 this morning. am down 10 lbs in the past fortnight, however this is 'cos i had a rough couple of weeks. Had a fill prev wed, so 3 days of liquids. Then I ate something that caused my stomach to swell, so went back onto liquids after begin off for 5, it was rough. Taking the rough with the smooth, it is the results that count, so I too am a happy camper. Great week to everyone
-
way cool - a good week after a few boring weeks .. maybe cos i had an adjustment and am on liquids again. 4 lbs in about 8 days.. amazing how much better you feel when you loose.. i went thru 2 months of yo-yo and found it depressing.. So, look forward and good luck to all..

Good luck to you. your stats seem similar to mine - except that you are 10 years younger. I had surgery on Good Friday (April) 2009, and am down 45 lbs. My medical did not pay for anything, but I decided if I wanted to live beyound my 55th birthday, now was the time to start. Good luck on your journey. Sometimes i find it frustrating (like when i yo-yo'd for 2 months - not setious, just 3 or so pound bandwidth). Other times it is so rewarding. Like, taking my belt in 5 notches -- until i got banded my belt always worked for a living, now it still works, but is in 'keeping up' not 'keeping in'. Also, wearing clothes i have nt worn since i stopped smoking 10 years ago.. this is bloody magic. Good on ya.

244.4 today.. YAY - I am loosing again. After a couple of months of bouncing up/down the same 4 pounds [which included a vacation on the road], i got a fill last wed, and 9 days later here I am - 5.5 lbs down from the weight9 days ago.. I am also almost half way to my initial goal - down a cumulative 43 pounds.. Good luck to everyone, have a fantastic weekend.. k

Hey Singin'
Excuse the 'friend request', not sure how it worked. I wanted to note your profile somewhere as we are on about the same timetable - you are just doing better than me. I banded a month before you, and have lost the same as you -- so wanted to use you as a comparison when i get frustrated with plateau's etc.
good luck on your mission

Yeah, but holding pants up is a holiday compared to the real work of keeping me contained (and protecting the clothes from shredding) LOL  Still a ways to go, but much more comfortable in my clothes, and fitting into some that had been hanging on the side of the wardrobe that catered to the clothes that had shrunken over time... another LOL

bugger, sorry about the double post - guess i forgot to press refresh - thought it had gotten lost .. sorry bout that

until recently, my belts really had to work.. now they are optional... that is great
-
until now, my belt always had to work. . .

Damn, how I am hoping to find that sweet spot.. I have only had one fill, and my doctor wants me on two days of Clear Liquids followed by 2 days of full liquids after a fill. I abbreviate it to 3 days of Protein shakes.. LOL Also, I guess your stomach may have swollen slightly, so taking it a little easier for a day or two might help.. keep well, good luck k

WOW guys - some seriously motivating stories here. I am 2 months post-op, and feel most my weightloss was pre-surgery & during recovery thereafter. We will see. Am down 34 lbs so far, but very little of that has been subsequent to about a month after the op. We will see. I believe I still have to find my GreenZone .. and then hopefully. My BMI has come down from 44.5 to 39.5, so that is good, but am really looking forward to dropping the next 52 lbs so I can Celebrate OneDerLand with so many other bandsters.. Keep smiling k

I am on about the same timeline as you. feeling hungry a lot, and not loosing near the weight i thought i would. I am down 33 lbs, but most of that from the pre and post op liquid diets. I am thinking of joining weight-watchers to get my food groups/mixes better.. Any comments on this ? tks k

Go for it -- it is great to have tools that help us achieve our goals. I have yo-yo'd for years, and i am about to venture into territory I have not been in for over 5 years... cool... after my first fill past Wed, i am now down a few pounds .. 253 today .. bloody magic .. k

Nice words of encouragement from you. I have found this board so helpful - as you said, many people in the same boat have gone down this road, so we can learn off of each other. Onto the password comment though.. I was in the same position, so just created a new tickler.com account. k
