BTW - I have not yet made Funny's soup, but these soups are great for the 2nd week liquid stage foods except the Red Pepper & Tomato has too much sugar in it.

Hey 30 Somethings! I had my surgery on July 14th so I am a week & 2 days out. I am doing pretty good except for a few lame setbacks. First, my city (St. Louis) was hit with a huge storm that knocked out power to most of the city and region. 30% of the area is still without power as of this afternoon but ours came back on yesterday. Oh and I have a stress fracture on my left foot near the big toe, so I cannot walk which will no doubt slow down my weightloss. I went for my first post surgery followup visit last week, at the time I lost 18lbs total including my 7 day preop diet. My Dr. removed my bandages and everything looks good including my 3 inch port incision. All in all, I have to say that I am a bit disappointed in the length of recovery time, I have no patients for it and did not realize that I would be able to sorta feel everything inside of me. Everyone else seems to be doing better than me, maybe part of it is because I am not able to move as much with my stupid foot. I have been missing my girl on the go coffee drinks and after the suggestion of another on the list I ordered the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf ice Blended fat & Sugar Free Mocha kit, it ROCKS!! And is a sneaky way to get in my calcium. I plan on adding protien powder to it as soon as I can get my ass out of the house :crutch: to buy some.

I am new to this thread. I just joined 24Hour Fitness and get 5 sessions with a trainer. yea! Anyone else a member of 24HR? I will have to put off exercise for a few weeks as I got a stress fracture on my foot Wednesday!

Leenerbups - Why are fills so expensive? you may want to look into a cheap SWA flight into St. Louis, my Dr. only charges $50 per fill. Also, for the outfit, try a full skirt it hides a big middle nicely. Oh and a deep wrap style V top. Or a fun of the shoulder top with those comfy black pants that never wrinkle.

Hey Guys! I have been gone for 4 days as I live in St. Louis and we had a terrible storm that knocked out the power to over 500,000 homes. Also, lucky us, we had a heat wave at the same time with a heat index of 120! yea! They have declaired us a state of emergency and are handing out military ration meals in certain areas. Luckily, we had great friends to stay with and our power came back on today. Anyway, back to band world - I went for my followup last week, at the time I lost 18lbs total including my 7 day preop diet. My Dr. removed my bandages and everything looks good except for my port, it is the biggest scar and should heal fine with Mederma (thanks KMO) and a lavender oil blend. Now for the SCARY RIPPING PAIN - has anyone else had that around the port? I was feeling it in the middle of my abdomen when I jerked myself up from a chair to quickly or was laying flat on the bed and got up "wrong" way. I have been taking it easy today and just resting, when I get up, I move real slow and use the muscles in my legs, not my abdomen. :oOh and to add to the fun, I fractured a bone in my left foot's big knuckle so I cannot walk! What a dumbass! :crutch:

I hope the Dr. scale is close to mine!! Mine tends to jump around between 4 - 6lbs or so.
-
Anaed2 - I am havig the same issue. My DR, asst. called to check on me this morning and she explained that the pain is form scar tissue forming around the port. That is the only place I am having pain. I did get some liquid vicodin yesterday. I take baby sips of it and it takes the edge off, the liquid Tylenol tastes gross to me! Funny - I have the same pains, mine comes and goes. I think it is gas bubbles rumbling around. It ususallly comes after drinking something. I was told I could begin progressing to full liquids and creamy soups today!! I go for my first post op office visit tomorrow - I cannot wait to get on the scale!:eek:
-
Melody, please check in with us after your unfill.

Vacation, Lap Band and Flying
BigGirlPantiez replied to ThunderThighs's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
TT - OMG, what a horrible experience! Thank you for posting this. You know what - we need a running list of lap band dr.'s in different states. -
Funny - how are you preparing your refried Beans? Are they from a can or a restaurant? I should begin creamy Soups on Thursday or Friday - yea! I am finally feelin really good, I think I have been pushing it a little and liting more that I should. My pain is only in the port area and it feels like constant burning, must be form the muscles that the port is attached to. Um...one more question - sorry if I am being rude, but does everyone have an insision under thier left breast? Ok, whose job was it to hold my 10lb boob out of the way during surgery??!!!
-
Thanks for all of your advice! My Hubby made Stef and I drink 64+ ounces of water yesterday, that helped and so did the gasex. We are taking our selves off meds and will try to walk today, of course it is going to be 100 here in STL, so we may only get down the block. Our pain is now mostly in the area where the port is. I understand that my DR. made the insisions on my stomach deeper than he wanted, that could be why my pain is worse that I thought. But who knows. I just cannot wait to add soups, yogurt & and sugar free hot chocolate later this week!!
-
Hipmom - I tried using the baby drops to get rid of gas, but they were too weak. I added Gasex chewables today and will also take some Dramamine for the nausea. I wonder if your gain is from all the fluids & gas they filled you with during surgery.

Hey Guys! Stef and I are in day 2 of bandworld. We are really feeling bad today, very nauseous and severe pain. We can no longer take our painkiller because Stef gets blurry vision ad I break out in hives - argh! We have been trying to move as much as possible but my one trip downstairs almost caused me to puke...so I am staying upstairs another day. We think we have been dehydrated, so my husband set out all the Water we need to get in today before he left for the Cardinals game. Any other recent banders feeling icky 2 days out? Also, I hear the 3rd day after surgery is always the worst for pain.

WE ARE IN BANDLAND!!! Hi everyone! Stefani & I came home yesterday evening. Our surgeries were pushed back because they did not have our blood work, so everything was delayed. Now for the nitty gritty - We were pretty out of it yesterday afternoon and evening. It was hard to walk around but we did as much walking as we could. Tips for banding day - - Bring a pillow for the ride home - Wear something that does not require undies of anysort, it is impossible to lean over and pull up your undies or pants for that matter on your own. - Have you prescriptions ready to go - Have 2 bottles of liquid tylenol and take every 4 hours to ward off pain. - Gas is an issue and takes a few days to work though you. We have been taking Mylicon for gas, but I do not like it as it seems to break the gas into smaller bubbles that float around inside me. - After surgery, be moved to a recliner as soon as possible, sleep off your anestetic this way and your gas and pain will not be as bad. - PACE YOURSELF, try to get up and move as much as you can but nap often to regain your strength. - Drink camomille or mint herbal tea. The warmth soothes the belly and helps with discomfort in your inards! All in all, the surgery was not a cup of tea, but well worth it. We could not imagine doing this on our own. We have a visitor so I need to run but will post more later!!
