Hey Guys! Stesti and I went shopping yesterday and it was just the motivation we needed!! We were both so excited to try on clothes in much smaller sizes!! I even bought a skirt (not elastic waist!) in a 20, when I was banded I would have been in a 24/26/even a 26/28 depending on the brand! Also, smaller sized bras were needed and now that we have them we have new smaller and visible waists!!! I highly recomend going clothes shopping to boost your spirits!!

I am with Telly (the long or the short haired version!)!! The old threads are not very helpful. Band info changes so often that the old posts are almost useless.

plantar fascitis - Hey guys, I used to get that all the time, then I bought a pair of Dansko Clogs, now I never get it unless I walk a long time in cheapy flip flops. My Dr. said it all has to do with arch support and Dansko clogs are perfect for that.

I am not on a diet either. I eat what a like in moderation while trying to be sensible. This is a new way of life for us. I bought a a high quality belgian dark chocolate bar (no sugar added) and have one or 3 squares a day, but it is all I want. I do use fat free half and half in my coffee and skim milk, just sensible stuff like that. Oh and we have an Oberweis ice cream shop within walking distace www.oberweisdairy.com/web/default.asp I do get teh fat free sugar free soft serve, it is pretty good!

Chris - great job!!! WOW, 61 LBs, how happy are you you got the band?!

Anyone feel like they have heartburn after thier first fill? I understand I should be swollen and am hoping this goes away in a day or two.

Hey Guys! I had my first fill today. I must be a big baby because the needle really hurt. But I think it was also because it is my TOM so every little thing hurts. I almost threw up after but I think I got up too quick from the table. My Dr. has me on a 10 day version of my 1 month diet, with 2 days of clears, 1 day of cloudy, one day of mushy (hello mashed potatoes!) and 5-10 days of my normal modified diet. I just ate a bowl of chicken soup broth form Panera, it was so good, but I feel pretty restricted. He said I will be swollen for a while so expect this. Also, Stesti said that it took her about 10-20 minutes after eating to feel full and I am the same way! I am excited to start seriously loosing though!!

Hey Guys! I own a public relations firm with my friend. We mostly work with non-profits doing thier special events/major fundraisers. We also have some for profit, aka "paying" clients! ha! For the newbies, Stesti and I were banded the same day by Dr. Wagner in STL and we try to go to all of our appointments together (but we have a rule, no numbers can be said outloud!) I get my first fill Tuesday. I am down around 25lbs or so. We just moved so I have been away from LBT because I have been trying to be good and unload all the boxes. I joined 24hour Fitness and begin my sessions this week. I love that they are open late. Also, I made an awesome roast for my parents, sister and hubby today, It is from the Southern Living cookbook. I roasted carrots, onion, red potatoes and parsnips on a pan, they were so good! I do not like roast so they got to enjoy it. I have alos found South Beach bars to be very filling and they have 19grams of protien! Oh and my infection is cleared!! Yea!

Note - I do not eat much meat, so I have to be creative about getting in my protien. Last night I made feta triangles by mixing low fat feta cheese, some lemon juice, and some pepper. I laid out phyllo and cut into strips. Then I put a tablespoon or two of feta on one end of the strip then folded over, and ended up with a folded flag shape. I brushed some with butter and others with butter flavor spray Pam. I put them in a 375 oven for 15 minutes, they were so good!! Also Calorie-counter.net said that phyllo is not too bad. You can also fill with spinach & feta or mushrooms or meat. A serving size is 2 and they fill me up and give me much needed energy! -
I have a Red Mini: Hubby has a 2003 retro style Thunderbird: And our Target/Sam's car is an Explorer! Of course none of them look as clean as they do in these photos!!

Hey guys! I have not posted much in th elast week or so. I moved and did not have internet service for a few days. Also, it turns out I had a pretty bad infection, my insicions were pushing out the stiches (my Dr. said I am a freak because I did not absorb the stiches liek everyone else! ) and my abdomen was swollen from the infection. I am prone to Staph infections as I had a major on in the early 90's that almost did me in. :sick Anyway, I am on antibiotics and the swelling and pain is going away! I have decided to only weight the 1st and the 15th of the month. Stesti and I get our fills next friday (if my infection is cleared up) and then we should be set for a while. My clothes are loose and my bellies (yes, plural!) are shrinking. I fell like I am not loosing pounds but inches - whatever, it is fine with me. I fell much better now and recieved my super duper protien powder yesterday. One of them tastes like Maggie Moos Better Batter ice cream - yum! It seems like most of us are at a stand still, but that seems to be the case after a few weeks. Stesti looked at the March thread and they felt the same thing after a few weeks, then after thier fills, the loosing began again. Sorry for rambling on, I accidently woke up and got ready for a meeting 2 hrs before I was supposed to today - am a nerd!:notagree Oh and JMO I am also hoping worms have some of the much needed protien I need! :hungry:

STESTI!!! You will be fine! We are still in healing mode.

Fun idea! There are a lot of words that come to mind, but some may no be in good taste!

YUM! I ordered some vanilla sugar cookie flavor and bought my orange crystal light today!! Thanks for the idea sister!

Baylor - I had some MAJOR wrenching pains about 5 days or so after surgery. I t happened when I either tried to sit straight up or get straight up from a couch. Turns out it was the stiches in my stomache holding my band in place. I stopped having the horrible pain (when it happened I was seriously reduced to tears and holding my stomach - drama!) when I lid in bed for 2 days and took it really slow when I had to get up, I rolled to my left and slowly sat up, and slept in an almost sitting position. I hope this helps and your band has not slipped. I feel for you if you have to go to the hospital - I do not want to see a hospital, IV, ER nurse, etc. for a very long time!

I am with Matt on this one - I love McD's and all of its faults! Has anyone had the apple walnut yogurt "salad"? It is really good, but the yogurt is probably full of fat and sugar. On thing I thougth was interesting in the film is when he states that McD's is comfort food for people and then I realized everytime I got a cold or something I would crave a cheeseburger happy meal with Hi-C orange. Oh and the hot fudge sundaes...mmmm But those days are over now. Ok, now I get to have 1% cottage cheese for dinner - yum! Also, I found these yummy soy chips, they are super light and have 10 grams of protien in a bag! http://www.glennys.com/store/index.aspx They have that crunch that I was missing. Oh and a small bag is 140 calories and no or low fat.

Lizzi - I did the same thing!! Hey girl, glad you are recovering nicely. I was so worried about you in Mexico all by yourself. You are a seriously strong super chica, I NEVER would have done it if I had to leave the country.

I understand where the frustration is coming from. Everything has changed for us and we have lost our food crutch. But like Stesti said, this has only been 3 weeks and a major adjustment period for all of us. It is incredible how different everyones reaction is, I clearly needed 2 full weeks to recover, while others were shopping and going out in 5 days or so. I have had my share of issues since being banded, some band related some not. I wanted to rip this band out of my body on a few occasions. But hopefully I now have everything in order and am on the road to putting the surgery behind me and getting back to being a normal person, but a normal "shrinking" person! When you get frustrated, try on some of your old tight clothes, nothing feels better than putting something on that was tight and is now loose. Hang in there guys! Everyday we will get stronger and learn from our mistakes and little victories.

beans? Anyone eating baked beans? I know they are high in sugars, a 1/2 cup of Bush's have 11 sugars but 6 protiens. Calorie-Count.com gives them and A but I am worried they will be too sweet and maybe too much fiber so early.
-
EricsMom - I second everything JMO & KMO have said. 31 pounds is AMAZING!! You are doing so well at this, remember, you are the poster child, you are supposed to inspire us!! Oh, and I'll bet your high-lites are super cute!

Has anyone read the book Why French Women Don't Get Fat? I am thinking that once I get a few months of banding behind me that I will follow this way of eating. I think the idea of smaller but quality portions is the way to go. Has anyone ever tried this program or is anyone currently eating this way?
-
Part of the reason I got the band was so we could have babies. My OBGYN said she has quite a few patients that have had both kinds of WLS and they have all been succesful. I am just guessing, but would it be best to have a c-section?
