1RockinMom replied to daningje's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try going to Tickerfactory.com and put in your password. Scroll down alittle to where your current weight is listed and put in your new weight, the hit "next". That should update it for you. Good luck and nice weight loss. -

Concerns about post-op
1RockinMom replied to baylorjai's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
oh NOoo,,,,Better drink it all while you can, you're not supposed to have carbonated drinks after you are banded. I WAS a diet coke freak, but after being banded, i don't even miss it. Ive heard the horror stories from people drinking carbonated drinks and it isn't pretty. Causes major bloating and gas, and its not good for the new pouch. Good luck with your surgery and keep us posted!!:seeya: -

Your welcome! Yeah, becoming a Vegan takes A LOT of changes, not only in what you eat, but products you use..leather in your shoes, clothes, etc., lotions and soaps, it would be too hard for me. I get the Vegetarian Times Magazine, its really good and has a lot of recipes that are easy to do with not-so-exotic food. I'm not a tofu eater, are you?? I don't like the soy milk all the time, if its flavored ill drink it on occasion. Rice cheese doesn't even sound attractive, lol yeah gross I looked up that quinoa on line, I'm gonna check it out in the health food store to see if they have it here before i order it on-line. When I can start eating a little more solid, I would like to have some Pasta. I know, the carbs, but I gave up bread, so I'm dying for some pasta, lol. I wanted to ask you why you were giving up the wheat products??

Good gurl!! You will be the one losing weight while everyone else is eating those little candy bars from hell!!

Hi there, well I was just banded, but I'd like to jump in on this thread to get some ideas of what others eat. I'm in the mushy stage, but you can still can get side tracked on that. I added a fitness ticker to keep track of my walking. That gives me some motivation to see the little "icon" running towards the 100 mile mark, lol. What is your calorie-intake-for-a-day goal?

Hi there, I am a vegetarian and was banded on 3/11/09. I guess you need to decide how "vegetarian" you want to be. Some people eat just chicken or fish and no other meat. Some choose to eat dairy, and some use the soy products for their dairy. I don't eat any meat whatso ever, but Ill use skim milk and egg beaters. When I can eat solid food, Ill use the soy burgers (Boca Burgers or Veggie Burgers) and different legumes for my protein. I would recommend reading up on it as much as possible. There is a book available in the public library's called " Vegetarian Book for Dummies" its a really good book and has lots of information, it was one of the best books I read when I made the transition.

Hey Trace, how are u doing waaaaayyy over there? Like your friend Sharry, Im at a stand still also from starting on the puree. I only eat about a 1/2 c of food, so I think its my matabulism catching up from being on liquids. How are you progressing? Have a great day.. Michelle

How did you set your goal weight?
1RockinMom replied to BillOh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, I'm going for the weight goal. I work at a major corporation that has a "Health Stat" program at work and we are monitored for free. I have had two major work ups and the only thing that has come back negative is my body mass index-thank goodness no high BP or Cholesterol. Technically my weight should be about 130, but realistically Ive set a goal of 140-150. -
Banded 3.27.09 Question about food
1RockinMom replied to koinoi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told the first week on liquids to sip about 6ounces every hour. But I would be on the phone with your Dr., these are things they should of educated you on before your surgery. Good Luck in your Journey!:tongue_smilie: -
banded 3/26 and feeling okay
1RockinMom replied to stareeide4u's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whoo hooo, Congratulations!! I was banded 3/11 and I love it. I drank the Isopure instead of the shakes. Its a clear liquid in a 20 oz bottle, it comes in different flavors and it has no sugar and 40 grams of protein per bottle. You can get it at GNC, and it tastes really good over ice. Good Luck!! -
I had my surgery on 3/11. I had a hiatal hernia also, but the Dr released me after 2 weeks with restrictions, but my job consists of lifting and repetitious movement, and I couldn't go back, so he put me out for another 2 weeks. I guess it depends on what you do for work.

I'm Not Telling Anyone I'm Being Banded.....
1RockinMom replied to laurenlee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Knewme, well maybe you will come out of your shell once you start losing and feeling better about yourself. I was the same way when i was married, I never let him know how much I weighed or what size i was shopping for. He didn't have a problem with the weight, but I did! But that was probably growing up in a family where I was 7yrs old and on diet pills because my grandmother didn't want a fat grandchild, and the name calling I endured as a kid from FAMILY MEMBERS. I have been banded only since 3/11/09 and its one of the best decisions I've made, I just wish it was available 20 years ago when i was at my highest 300lbs. But over the years losing slowly on my own with different diets and exercising, I have been able to feel a little more comfortable in my own skin. I have told people-my friends and family-and haven't gotten any grief. Too bad if they don't like it, there's always a Hater in the group. But, like someone else mentioned, I see it as hopefully helping someone else that's in my shoes that thinks there isn't any hope of ever losing weight. Good Luck with your Journey!:tongue_smilie: -
Burning Reflux and heartburn
1RockinMom replied to banjo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What are "slider foods?" Ive heard the term used a couple times... thanks -
Hey there! Keep up the good work!! you are doing great. I was banded March 11 and lost 4 from the pre op ( 6 days) and 18 from the surgery. I won't be release for work for another 2 weeks (i have a real physical job) but I went back to my college classes. After class my first day the maintenance man stopped me and asked me if I lost weight! lol I love when people notice, that's my motivation. :tongue_smilie:
