    protein shakes

I got protein shaked out from the pre op diet, so I drank Isopure clear drinks, a 20oz bottle gives you 40 grams of protein. Can get them at GNC. 5 bucks a bottle.
  7. Wow, congratulations and happy anniversay! Well done, you are an inspiration to us that are just starting out! Keep up the good work! :w00t:
  8. I sent you a friends request, ill be up there the last week of june for my sons graduation from RFA.. so cool!!

  9. When I went to my appointment with the nutritionist, she gave me a booklet put together by my Dr that has been like a bible to me. It has my diet schedule for pre-op, example- Day 1-8, Clear Liquids...and a list of food I can have, and so on til I'm six weeks post-op and into my maintenance plan. I have been following it per Dr's instructions. At my 2 week follow-up appt. they gave me the literature that came with the band, along with some other stuff and the diet the Dr gave me is verbatim of the literature. My question is... the Dr's, I am assuming, are all trained to put the band in the same way at the same place, but why are the diets so different? I have read on here people saying their Dr said they can eat "regular" food their second week. My opinion... that's just setting them up for going back to their old habits of eating "regular" food. Just wondering if anyone had some opinions... thanks!

    My post-op dietary regulations

Congratulations on getting your band!! Yes, everyone is different and Drs require different things. The main thing is to stay hydrated. I was on the clear liquids also for a week after, my menu had a little more to it-sugar free popsicles, clear broth, and Isopure, clear fruit juice to name a few, and i was required to sip about 6 ounces every hour. I have been on the mushy/pureed for about 3 weeks, its getting old,lol.. Then I can transition to a soft solid diet. Some people are instructed to start a solid diet right after the liquid, it just depends. But stay hydrated, and good luck with your Journey!
  11. I didnt even know i had one til my Upper GI, i think you need to have it repaired before the band or at the same time. My Dr did it while he placed the band. good luck!

    Advice needed please...

I would agree with RestlessMonkey, get a little food processor. They are great. You can have mashed potatoes, add a little Skim milk to thin them out, green-bean casserole-pick out the green Beans and puree them, I guess it depends on what is going to be served. Its been almost 4 weeks since Ive been banded and I can only eat a half to three quaters cup of food. You won't, or shouldn't, be able to eat much anyway. But I have to tell you also, i have been on puree for 2 1/2 weeks, and I went to a going away BBQ for my best friend's daughter going into the Navy. I knew there wouldn't be anything I could eat, it was the typical, Hamburgers and hot dogs, chips, coleslaw, etc. I just brought me some sugar free Jello and stood back in amazement on how much food these people loaded up on their plates! I thought to myself-that's what I used to do-:welldoneclap: and i was totally fine with my sugar free jello! Good Luck!
  13. Way to go!! Pretty soon you will be able to kiss that 3 goodbye!!

    day 1,,,,,

Congratulations!! Good Luck. how come u havent drank anything??????
  16. I was banded March 11th. I lost 4 lbs pre op (i only had to do it for 5 days prior to surgery) and 21 since surgery. I'm on a pretty strict diet compared to a lot of folks. I have to wait til I'm 30 days out to introduce the reg food, I'm still on puree and soft food. The scale did stop when I started on the mushy. I didn't gain anything or lose anything for a week, but then i started walking and that has jump started me losing again. I can tolerate about 1/2 to 3/4 cup of food, if i rest and get the hiccups, I know I'm full, hahaha. Good luck everyone!
