Reading your post totally creeped me out! It was like it was my post but I was like.. I don't remember telling anyone this...lol I do the EXACT same thing.. I find the most awesome things at the thrift shop.. people at work ask me all the time where I get stuff and I laugh it off... "This top was 3 bucks" lol If bargain shopping has replaced chips and dip I'll take it! I find I am also cleaning a lot more and organizing. These are all positive things as far as I'm concerned

when is it ok to drink alchohol?
itscometothis replied to suez383's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked and was given the ok at 6 weeks out to try a glass of wine. I was fine. Everyone will have a different answer and an opinion to match..lol If you have decided not to then I guess this is rather pointless..lol But just so you know it was ok at that point. -
I'm only two and a half months out and I definitely experience hunger.. I have since about the 2 month mark. And it isn't head hunger.. it is real hunger. I think it is normal to get your hunger back .. survival instinct and all. The hunger isn't bad though and all you have to do is eat a boiled egg and you are pretty much full..lol So even though I get hungry I don't worry because it is simple to fix.

Well.. I had one glass of wine and I do believe I'm buzzed... at any rate.. here is my letter to size 6. ahem... Dear size 6... I have spent my entire life trying to be friends with you. I have been nothing but sweet, cute and funny.. but you never want anything to do with me. The hours I have spent trying to attain you are, quite frankly, time wasted. You have eluded me my entire life and I just wanted to let you know that I am no longer interested in a friendship. I'm rather sick of your stuck up attitude and can't be bothered with you any longer. Soooo.. when you see me with size 4 I just wanted to let you know that you can kiss my skinny little A$$. That will be all.

I get a dull pain just below my left shoulder blade when I eat certain foods. Actually, the first 6 weeks after surgery it hurt every night at bedtime and on and off during the day. I am now 2 months out and it doesn't happen as much, but if I eat certain foods or if I eat just a tad too much(which is still VERY little) I get a dull pain there. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, do you know what it is? Thanks!

I as told that 1% of people will get a leak.. but each doctor will have their own leak rate based on how many surgeries they have done and how many patients ended up with a leak. My surgeon was about 1%. I think leaks are just a possibility that can happen with this surgery.. with any surgery there are things that can go wrong with the patient. I just hoped I wouldn't have one.. and I didn't. Leaks can be and are fixed.. but I hear it's no fun at all. I guess it's just the risk we take going under the ol' knife.

Sharp pains at 17 days out?
itscometothis replied to skinnyminny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had that pain for almost two months.. -
It's wierd looking at the way you used to eat from this side...
itscometothis replied to GonnaLoseIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The thing I realize most is how much other people talk about dieting and diets. I sit in the staff room and listen to people talk about starting a new diet and all I can think is... Ohhhhh gaaaaawd... nightmarrrrrre! I am just happy to not have to be on another diet! That used to be me.. the person going on a diet. Never again... never. -
how much weight did you lose at the 7 months mark?
itscometothis replied to kerri21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am the exact same as you as far as total weight loss hopes.. I want to lose 70. I am 2.5 months out and have lost about 27 and feel like I should be losing a bit more than that. At any rate I am glad I read your post because it is a reminder to me to eat more Protein and be very, VERY diligent for the next 3.5 months. If the first 6 months are my opportunity then I should be a bit more focused. I haven't been bad, but I could just be better. I'm so glad I read your post -
Dull pain below left shoulder
itscometothis replied to itscometothis's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had surgery on August 6th.. I am trying to imagine that I could have an infection for over two and a half months and not know. hmmm. I notice that the only time I get the dull ache below my left shoulder blade is when I eat something dense.. or maybe just eat too quickly. Did you have an infection? How were you treated? I think I read something about you having a possible leak in another thread.. am I right? lol I forget. Anyways.. Let me know any more info about yourself.. it's helpful -
The Thought of Throwing Away My Stomach(EEKS)
itscometothis replied to MsLadyKanKan's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Look, I still wake up in the middle of the night and think.. Oh My Gawd.. I let someone cut out my stomach and throw it in the trash...lol I think it is totally normal to worry. Somewhere in our minds we still think that maaayyyybe we can do this without surgery.. maybe if we just watch what we eat and have willpower we will... blah blah blah.. ya know? Buh-bye big ol' stomach that fit too much food.. hello little portion control pocket! Don't worry.. you are going to be more fabulous than you can imagine! -
I remember sitting in the hotel in San Diego the night before surgery and thinking.. I am going home.. I'm not doing this.. it's insane. That was August 5th... I am so happy I went to bed and pushed past the fear because this little sleeve is the best thing I ever did for myself.

Does your sleeve "clench"?
itscometothis replied to emily_0192010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had that at night and it woke me up regularly. It stopped happening about 2 months after surgery and I no longer have it. I am now 2.5 months out and I still don't like to sleep on my left side because it feels like there is a very slight pulling on the inside. You are just healing It's good to talk to your surgeon... hope everything turns out ok! -
surprise response
itscometothis replied to quazarfrog's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Here comes a big hug.. and it's a squishy one! I told a friend of mine who is VERY overweight and her response was.." I am going to join weight watchers and do it the right way. I wouldn't ever do that to my body." I was standing there thinking the following.. 1. Why did I tell her? 2. She appears jealous and jealous people gossip and I didn't want people knowing.. crap. 3. What is she talking about never doing THAT to her body... she already did THAT and more by eating like she was having her last meal on death row for the past 39 years. Which isn't a judgement call.. I did the same. The thing is.. we can't control other people's reactions and if they react in a bad way then they need to figure it out. I had hoped telling my friend would make us closer in a weird way.. but I can safely predict that this isn't going to go over well. Hold your head up high and be proud -
Low BMI to Start - Anyone Else?
itscometothis replied to ATeam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi.. I had a bmi of around 33 when I had vsg. I looked into the balloon as well but was basically told that the intent of it was moreso to help people who need to lose weight quickly to have another surgery, like a hip replacement. I was told that the weight would more than likely find it's way back home..lol That is just what my surgeon told me, so don't take my word for it.. research for yourself My good friend and I went to Mexico to have our surgeries because we didn't qualify in Canada and the expense would have been too high anyways. Also, her bmi was lower than mine. She was 5 foot 2 and her weight was 180. Hope this helps -

Anyone Ever Had Gastric Sleeve Surgery In Mexico?
itscometothis replied to noeandyvetter's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I can only speak for myself... I went to Mexico for a few reasons... 1. I didn't qualify for the surgery in Canada or the US with a BMI of less than 35 but I wanted it done. 2. I wanted to have it done so bad that I was willing to go to Mexico to have it done! 3. The surgeons in Mexico have done this for a long time and many of them are more experienced than US/Canadian surgeons. 4. I had the money and was willing to pay to have it done. I would do it all over again because I researched like crazy and after doing so found that Mexico wasn't this horribly scary place to have surgery. Medical tourism is huge. People go to Brazil, Thailand, Mexico, etc to have surgery. I am forever grateful for finding out about Mexico as it gave me an option -

It is what it is
itscometothis replied to AnnaChelle's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Sigh.. I really hope you start to feel better soon Having to go to a foreign country to have surgery is just plain hard. I went to Mexico as well and while I did not have the same surgeon as you and my experience was a good one, it's still difficult to have to travel far from home to do this. We all just want to stop struggling with our weight.. we do what we have to do.. and we just have to hope for the best. It should just be simpler for us all. Big squishy hugs to you! -

Agreed. -
I was on it and it made it difficult for me to sleep.. It increased my sex drive a small amount..my appetite was the same as always and I just didn't like how it made me feel. Everyone is different.. sometimes you have to just give things a whirl to see if they are good for you.

how soon can you drive after surgery?
itscometothis replied to bethk12@gmail.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery on Saturday... drove home 8 hours on Tuesday... Only three days and I was fine to drive -

Hello.. I am a month out.. I just wondered when I could have a glass of wine or a cup of coffee. I can't fine my diet package right now because we have company staying with us and my house is upside down..lol By they way, and I mean this kindly, I don't require responses telling me how alcohol is empty calories and not a good choice..etc.. I know the drill.. just wondered when I could have a glass of wine or a coffee with the company Thanks!!
