Just curious if anyone has tried to premake thier protein shakes to avoid lugging blender, mixes, etc to work each day during two week preop?? I was considering trying it and just crushing ice at work when I was ready for my shake..I work with patients all day and dont really have time to stop and make a noisy shake right in the middle of our clinic...any advice??

made this for my husband tonight for dinner (too lazy too cook) neither one of us banded (he is not wanting the surgery)..but he still loved it...that is on our keep forever list and here I was ready to trade out my chocolate powder for vanilla..so far the only one I had tried..

That is so encouraging, I am dealing with a last minute carb (bread mainly) binge before my preop liquid thing starts on june 3...so I like thinking that there will be physical consequences to the carb thing, that will make it easier to kick..already kicked sweets (love hot tamales)...and fried foods (hello, I Live in GA)...whats one more thing...thanks!

So finally got around to trying a Bariatric Advantage shake for breakfast this morning, still have 2 weeks before have to start the liquid diet preop diet...it really was kind of tasty..recipe: 8 oz. Milk (2%) 2 scoops BA Vanilla Half Banana 2 T. Sugar Free vanilla syrup Crushed Ice Blend and serve..yummy.. I found this cool insulated cup at STarbucks..I am not a coffee drinker, but a co-worker turned me on to this cup..it looks like a regular sb cup, but it has a twist on lid to keep this shake frosty cold for a long time...and since I have to be at work at 730 (and it is a 45 minute drive)...I need to make my first shake before I leave the house, but can not stomach too much before 8 AM...The cup was like 13 bucks, but I think it will be a good investment to keep my hydrated..I figure I can put my shakes, my water, my isopure, my chicken broth...I prolly need to get a second cup...haha...But seriously, I was so stoked that the shake was palatable, now I just have to get my lazy butt up in the morning and get it done...see ya!

What I Wish I'd Known Before Being Banded...

THat was an awesome outlook and though it all seems common sense once you read it, some things arent always that easy when you are on this roller coaster, so thank you for giving me something to think about....As of tomorrow I will be one month away from my surgery date...I am doing it on June 17 cause that is my halfway birthday (I am a december baby) and I want to see what can happen in 6 months... -
So the last few days I have done really well during the day ... then the night comes...I have always been a late day eater... I have pretty much had baked lays (bbq) and tonight added a fiber one bar for dinner...not the greatest choices...I am just nervous that after my surgery *june 17* I will (lets face it...) just be plain lazy about nutrition...I hate working 10 hour days and coming home and preparing a meal and then the dishes typically sit cause my husband and I both detest washing dishes...we have gotten markedly better about it, but it is still a challenge. NO we do not have kids...can you imagine...that is one of the hopes after the weight is gone, but obviously more than just eating habits will have to change. AND today, the hospital i work at provided lunch for "Hospital week" and I got a hamburger, hotdog (no buns) coleslaw and baked beans..ate pretty much all except the slaw and was totally miserable for about 2 hours...my stomach has surely shrunk since my eating habits have changed so drastically in the last 3 weeks...o well, just needed to vent...Lost Season Finale beginning...gotta go:tongue_smilie:

Any sleevers for June? Dr Aceves?

I am scheduled for June 17 as well. I have already started as of April 29 changing my diet and experimenting with different protein supplements. My favorites so far (and trust me when I say I am very picky) is EAS Myoplex Lite in French Vanilla (not a fan of the chocolate drinks so far but my husband likes them) and ISOPURE (liquid form, have not tried the powdered form yet)..one bottle is 80 percent protein and it tastes pretty good...kinda reminds me of sugar free coolaid mixed with a wine cooler (haha)...Good LUck...By changin my diet and substituting the EAS drink for breakfast I have gotten my body (sorta) ready for the two week liquid diet and have grown a taste ... not to mention already dropped 11 pounds (in two weeks) and feel a lot less bloated... -
Finally found some Isopure at my local gym and the berry punch flavor is pretty tasty..1 bottle is 80 percent of your protein...that is pretty sweet...no carbs, no sugar...and it tastes good...can't beat that...

So about 5 weeks pre op and totally changed my eating habits already in prep...cut out fried foods and sugar (hello, I live in the south..that is ALOT) and dropped 11 pounds last week and have cinched my belt up two notches...still excited of the prospect of losing 90 more after surgery..oh to be 140...I don't even recall a time when I was there...btw..EAS Myoplex lite French Vanilla (my breakfast everymorning)...is definitely my protein shake of choice and I have experimented with a few..this one has no after taste and actually taste like a melted milkshake...yummy...I plan to use this during my liquid diet phase so I don't have to carry a blender to work (10 hour days and live about an hour away...) ...

So just went through all the pre-op stuff, doc visit, seminar and have until June 3 until I start the pre-op diet. Not so enthused about the 3-5 shake thing! I tend to gag if I have to have something like that first thing in the morning. Bought some muscle milk light and atkins advantage to try also so I don't have to drag a blender to work every day. Pretty nervous, but excited at the same time. Can't wait to be able to post before/ after photos!

So after switching jobs with the hope this large company (in the health field) would offer an insurance plan that would cover lap band surgery, I have only just discovered there is not now nor will ever be a covered benefit for WLS...I am so totally bummed, cause the job is stressful in itself and I thought I could endure it for the sake of "the benefits"...now I am financing through the md office for the surgery...this does not even include the anasth and surgery center and it is already 18K...argh! So frustrated and just wanted to chance to vent! The only positive thing I can say is my sister in law is the billing person for this MD office and might be able to get me a little deal...
