moni75 replied to nursebeccarn's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I'm up next. Got the call from the hospital to arrive @ 1245. Today is my birthday & it killed me not to have any of my birthday cake or meal my mother made. But it's all worth it! Good luck to all of us starting our new lives tomorrow!!! -
Good luck on Monday. Im having lap band revision to sleeve Monday also. Im just a little bummed because my birthday is Sunday and my Md orders call for clear fluids on Sunday and of course NPO after midnight. So no birthday dinner or hard partying for me, LOL. Looking forward to this new year and new beginnings

Any Nurses Out There Getting Sleeved? Fmla
moni75 replied to SueRN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone, I am a nurse on a busy ICU unit. When I had my band placed in 2009 I was out for 4 weeks. I really felt like going back after 2. This time I am having revision to sleeve and only plan on taking 2 weeks off. I work with a great group of nurses and we help each other out so I think I will be fine. I worked up until 5 days before I gave birth and didn't really have any issue. Wishing for the same luck!!!! -
December 2013 Sleevers This Is Our Month Are Yall Ready!?
moni75 replied to sleevinIT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello everyone, I am so excited and happy for everyone beginning their journey. I will be having revision from band to sleeve on Dec 30. The day after my birthday. A great birthday present to me. I have had my band since 2009 and have had nothing but issues. I did have weight loss but gained it all back after the birth of my beautiful baby boy. That is when the problems with my band started. Excited to get the band removed and live a normal life without the pain from my port or the fear of vomiting with every meal. Good luck everyone!!!! -
So excited I finally got my surgical date of 12/30. It's one day after my birthday so it's a great present. Can't wait!!!

I have had Dr. Kwon place my lapband and I am currently working with him again to do revision to sleeve. He is great but strict. Do you have a surgery date yet? -
Hello everyone. My name is Moni & I'm 37 with 4 sons. I had lapband in March of 2009. I lost 60lbs but gained it all back while pregnant with my last baby. I have noticed that it has become more difficult for the MD to fill my band as needed to aid in my weight loss. I have decided to have my band removed for other reasons as well and I am interested in the sleeve. My surgeon is in agreement and I am going through all the necessary appointment to get approval from my insurance company Cigna. I love this thread & I am excited to begin this journey. Good luck to everyone.

Hi, I was banded 3 yrs ago and lost 90lbs. I had a baby 20 months ago & have had a real hard time getting back on track. Gained about 40lbs and really need advice & encouragement. Good luck, I know we can do this!!
-
Wow that's great! What is your diet and excersise routine like if u don't mind my asking. I am willing to try new things in hopes for some progress

Hi Janet, yes I have gone in for a few fills. But during my pregnancy the baby was so big I think it caused my port to tilt. So I dread getting fills because they have a hard time getting to my port. I gained 40 lbs & really need to get off my but & get it together. I made an appointment for the morning to speak to Jody and get some motivation.

moni75 replied to Mismac01's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi! I too am struggling with my weight loss. I was 255 3yrs ago. Lost 60 lbs felt & look great. Had a baby & since have not lost a single lb. I am currently 235. I feel horrible. I exercise sporadically and I know my diet is not the best. Just need a kick to get motivated again. I have good restriction but just can't get the scale to move. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. -
How are all the March 09 Lucky Losers doing? Updates everyone!
moni75 replied to LifeStartsNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone. Things are going okay since my surgery on 3/4/09. I'm down 29 lbs, but the scale continues to be my frenemy!! I think that I still need to work on slowing down when eating. Exercise is walking 2 miles 4 days a week. My first fill is scheduled for 4/20. I can't wait. Good luck to you all!!! -
Working 12 hour nursing shifts in hospital with LB
moni75 replied to T-bonz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I am a nurse & work 12 hours days also. On my way in I usually drink a protein shake, then 4 hrs. later have a quick break to have cottage cheese, drink plenty of water have lunch and have another small snack mid-afternoon. Basically I try to have something every 4-5 hrs just so I don't start to feel like crap during my 45min commute home. -
"Lucky Losers" (March 2009 banders)
moni75 replied to KarenInOhio's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey guys, so today I want in for my 3 week post op & I'm happy to say I've officially been cleared to mushies!! The scale in the office says I'm down 5lbs. which is great. I told the nutritionist about my crazy hunger pains & she says it's the norm. Once my calories increase along with the cardio I'm doing I will continue to lose.( I hope!) Anyways I wish everyone a great week. -
"Lucky Losers" (March 2009 banders)
moni75 replied to KarenInOhio's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey guys, I'm exactly 2 weeks post op today and for some crazy reason I find myself eating small amounts of food throughtout the day. It's just things like sugar free pudding, 1/2 cup creamy soup but I'm worried that I could be over doing it. My total calorie intake is about 600 calories, & I make sure I get on the treadmill to burn at least 340 calories. Am I just worring too much? I see my doc on Monday to get upgraded to mushies and I'm nervous because the scale has not moved in 5 days. I was loing like crazy before and now nothing. -

Am I just weird.....got banded Wed, 3/4...
moni75 replied to Michele74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought I was the only one felling like something was wrong with me. I was banded on 3/4 also and now I'm starting to feel hungry at times. My doctor has a strict order of only plain tea, water or diluted apple juice. I'm so happy my follow-up is tomorrow. I hope he advances me to protein shakes. I can't believe I'm craving those damn shakes!! My weight on the 4th was 257.8lbs. now I'm 249lbs. What's up with that? Is that a normal pace for weight loss? -
Thanks for the warm welcome. I did alot of research on the lapband process. I was against it at first as alot of people I know went ahead with the surgery. I thought that if I just watch my diet, and exercise that I would return to my "skinny self". No luck. I had to really take a look at my life, my health and I decided enough was enough. I am from New York and work as a registered nurse. I want to be a good example for my family as well as my patients. I am well on my way

Hi everyone, I'm new to the site as it was recommended to me from a friend. I had surgery on march 4. So far everything has been great except for the horrible gas pains. I have been walking but the relief is minimal. I look forward to sharing my experience and learning a new way of life as a lapbandster. thanxs.
