  1. I work in Plano near Stonebriar mall and live in Lewisville.

  2. After reading all of the posts today (4/19), it seems obvious to me that each of us have our daily struggles. I am afraid I may be eating too much. I have my fill scheduled for the 27th of April; however, I would like to get it sooner. Since I fell on Friday, I would also like to see what is causing my sharp pains in my stomach and side. But this is the "word" for today: Perserverance. I think I can speak for all of us when I say that our decision to have this surgery was not one taken lightly. For me, I knew my health wouldn't allow me to go very long without doing something serious about my weight. It hasn't been all "downhill", but I know that through perserverance, the desired results will prove to be worth all of the sacrifices and problems along the way. We can do this group! With our suggestions and positive feedback, we will all succeed, right?

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi everyone 50+.......... I had my lapband surgery on 3/16, and I have lost about 28 lbs. I hope all of you are doing well. I fell this past week and I think it tugged on the realizeband port which is clamped onto the muscle. I am really sore with some sharp pains shooting around my left side, so I am going to check in with my surgeon tomorrow. I am 56 and obviously clumsy I live in the Dallas area and Dr. Hamn was my surgeon. Has anyone else gone to him? I only had a couple of minutes to post something. Will check in later........... Let's keep in touch!
  4. Thank you for all of the great suggestions! Have a great weekend!
  5. Peascorps........ So glad things are working out for you......
  6. Hi everyone, After I posted my last comment, I suddenly started having a difficult time satisfying my hunger and cravings. My first fill is next week, and I think I am ready for it! :crying: I am glad to hear that everyone is having similar feelings, because somehow it makes me feel better knowing I am not alone. I really appreciate the strong support from all of the March Bandsters :crying: Since 3/16 I have seen some great results in my clothes fitting better. I wore 2 outfits this week that were 2 sizes smaller, so that is what keeps me going. The people I work with keep telling me how much better my complexion looks and how much thinner my face looks. I just want to feel healthy again, but I am getting there............. March Bandsters: We can do this !!! :rolleyes2:
  7. Keep your chin up! I had the same thing happen. Scales really vary, so don't get depressed over it. Be sure and drink lots of water. I haven't cheated since the surgery because I have gone through too much to blow this; however, I have been very tempted. Now that I am on soft foods (5 weeks after surgery), I am ready for next week when I can eat more solid foods.
  8. Hi everyone, Since March 16th (surgery date) I have lost 26 lbs. and have experienced some of the same issues as many of you. I have always been a candy, especially chocolate, eater (every day!). During the last 30 days I have been craving vegetables. I am not craving sweets like I thought I would. The only candy I am craving is Twizzlers, which obviously I can't eat with my lapband. I am getting my 1st fill next week and can't wait. I want to see how it looks with the flourescope. I haven't had any "back-ups". Everything is going down and staying down. I hope everything is okay. I am only getting a small "full sensation" after I eat. I have the realizeband and it is definitely swollen at the port site. The nurses say it is normal right now. I can't wait for the swelling to go down. I don't know if it is scar tissue or what! Great job everyone on your progress!
  9. Hello from Texas.......testing signature

  10. Swisskaese, Good luck with your surgery. If you are not on a restrictive diet right now, try to reduce your intake of food between now and "D" day. I wasn't on any restrictions and ate a good-sized meal the night before surgery. Not a good idea :-(
  11. armywife2002 What are you getting to eat 7 days post op? I know every doc seems to be different.
  12. Go to user CP - one of the tabs at the top of the home page. It took me a while to figure everything out, and I am still working it out. Today I used the ticker by going to the link that you see above the ticker weight loss results. Good luck!

I am just now back to the forum and reading messages, but I wanted to comment on the "liquid coming up" issue. I had my surgery on 3/16 and doing fine; however, I had that same thing happen on 3/19. My surgeon's nurse said the same thing.........my tea had not made it's way through the "funnel". That is how she explained it to help me visualize the area. I hope you are doing fine now.

    Dr. Hamm Plano, TX anyone?

I just came home on Tuesday from my lapband surgery. I stayed one night at the hospital and I am so glad I did because they monitored everything for me. Now that I am home, the only thing that has been a little tough is the gas pains. My left shoulder really hurts sometimes, and I was told to walk out the pain (gas). My first night home was scary because I was running a 102 temp that was most likely due to chest congestion. This is common. As soon as I started walking around and coughing up stuff (I know this sounds aweful, but it is important for fellow lapband patients), I was better and my temp went down to 99. I am still on the phase 1 total clear liquids until tomorrow, but I don't crave anything else, and my husband is cooking all sorts of goodies in the kitchen. In fact, I feel really full. I know it will probably get tougher when I can start eating more, but for now. no problem! The most awesome thing is my blood sugar levels! I was diabetic on oral meds and my blood sugar is now 126 compared to 280+. My goal is under 120, but above 80. I hope this helps everyone. Dr. Hamn and the staff at Plano Presbyterian was wonderful! :sneaky:
  15. Ree2009 I am getting banded on Monday too! I wish you luck
  16. Oyesican, I understand your head hunger. I am going through the same thing. No more diet sodas? There are so many food addictions I have and didn't realize it. I know sodas aren't good for you anyway. At 56 years old, food has been my best friend. Are you in the Dallas area? I have my surgery in one week. We can do this !!!!
  17. Shellb......... Take it easy going back to work. My friend recently had lapband surgery and found working 1/2 days the first week back really helped her. Of course, everyone is different
  18. msperson........ Just think, in a few days you will be on your way to meeting your goal , and I won't be far behind you. Good luck with your surgery. Keep in touch with us March Bandsters.
  19. My doctor doesn't have me on any pre-op diet. I am just watching what I eat next week because my surgery is in a week!

  20. mbsg........ Hope everything goes well for you. Keep us informed. It's a whole new beginning for you.
  21. Kerrie, you'll do fine. Let us know how you are doing after surgery.
  22. Gabi, I'm a little late with this, but I hope everything went well for you! Keep us informed. My surgery date is one week from Monday.

    What if??

Does anyone know what happens if someone needs to have a lapband removed due to complications? What would happen if something happened later on down the road and I didn't have insurance that would cover weight loss surgery? I don't anticipate that happening, but it's only normal to think about the "what if's" Also right now I have 90% coverage with my insurance, so what will fills cost me? United HC currently. Do I pay just the copay?
  24. My name is Suzanne and I am from Texas, having my surgery on 3/16

    Dr. Hamm Plano, TX anyone?

How is everything going so far with your lapband procedure? How do you like Dr. Hamn? He is my surgeon, and so far I like him and his staff.
