I'll be 40 in April! Funny that we are so close in age!

You are one amazing woman.

I don't typically answer these posts because they've been discussed to death on here but today I will. It's my opinon that the surgeries are for very different types of people. The only thing they have in common are that they are surgeries for weight loss and they are done by surgeons who specialize in that part of the body. The lapband is for people who have one last good effort to give to weightloss. Bypass is for people who are just done fighting and want to give the burden over to someone (the surgeon) or something (the process) else. They've run out of steam or they are too far away from being able to take responsibility for their actions. That's not to say that one person is more committed than the other, it's what they are committed to. A successful lapbanded person (successful is the key word) is committed to making life long changes in how they eat AND how they move their bodies. The band gives them a tool to catch their breath, get their footing while they learn to behave and think differently. It also keeps them from falling too far when they break from the weight loss fight. Bypass are commit 100% with their physiology with the hope that their behaviors will change during the 18-24 month window of opportunity. However both can fail and do. I feel it's because the person doesn't want to do the work of rewiring their brains and his or her committment to the process/promise to him or herself of a better way of living is not sincere and life long lasting. So if you were my friend sitting across the table having coffee with me I'd ask you if you had one last fat beat down left in you immediately or if you felt like you couldn't even think about exercising until you got under a certain weight...

Any insomniacs in the house? I'm going to die if I don't get some sleep. The damn time change has me up at 5:40 in the morning and I don't go to sleep easily at night. This is insanity. To boot the GF is a sleep whore. I'm like woohoo let's get up and go to the gym! Let's run here and there... Good thing I have a paper and 4 chapters to read. You know something to keep me busy instead of pestering her. Anyone have fun plans for the weekend?

I'm seeing my honey this weekend too. I'm driving up to MI after work. I can't wait! TGIF! -
Putting in the calories really shouldn't be more than a few minutes. It might be a little more cumbersome at first but it does get easier with time. I was using fitday.com and had a bit of learning curve with that program. I find BB's to be about equal.

I'd rather midlessly run around too. On that note, I've got yet another paper to write. Catch you all later.

Marchies in Nov. (The Month of The Turkey)
OH Juli replied to Jeni 85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mrs H. Here's your butt kicking. Ice-cream and chips make you fat. Eating some some of the time is okay, but eating them with out regard to your weight loss is silly. You had surgery to lose weight, SURGERY! At one point you wanted to get to goal. Go back to that time and remember what drove you seek surgery and why you set the goals that you set. Were you faking the lower number and really just wanted to be under 200? If that's the case your done. Go eat ice-cream. XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO (don't hate me) Juli -
B Thanks for the link. I forget that I like to read Slate here and there.

Morning everyone! TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HP, Yeah OT!!! Can you walk during break time or anything like that? Sucks about not being able to exercise. Load up on the weekends? B, I know what you mean about being pissed by burning fewer calories than you thought. However, it makes me get up and move more.

Marchies in Nov. (The Month of The Turkey)
OH Juli replied to Jeni 85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jeni, Here are some tough-love words. Are you happy with your weight where it is? You are down quite a few pounds. Are you content to stay where you are? Statistically most people only lose 40-60% of their excess weight with the band. Do you want to be part of that average or do you want to more successful than average? If you're taking a break have a real plan for its end time. Know that we are getting into the hardest time of year for people to maintain, let alone not gain weight with Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year pending. Is this the time to get lazy? Are you going to let the cold keep you on your butt until March, because it's just starting and that's a long time to wait to move. So, yeah, I got blah and then I got serious. I didn't have this surgery to be half assed about it. Yes, taking a break is important to keep form getting burned out, but don't let the weather determine if you sit out on life or not. Much love and hugs. -
Well, uck, that your husband isn't with you. Yeah, eating is easier. Uck you got hurt in Iraq. Yeah and thanks for what you did to serve our country. Uck you are in TX, (Sorry Step and Brandon) Yeah you can bike now, it's too cold up here in Ohio/Mich country unless you're a serious biker. Uck about the job hunt. It's a sad state of affairs because fat doesn't equal dumb or unmotivated but employers do look at it like that. Bastards. Thanks for sharing your story.

I'm happy to make your day! It's good to see you are doing great! :bounce: -
Getting banded is a process to be sure. It will happen. Just line up the hoops and start jumping. You will get your band. It's worth all the work and effort. I promise.

I love the chart on the BB that shows just how much I sit on my ass. I'm planning on little walks during each hour during my work day. I work out heavily, but I don't burn much otherwise during the week. I mean at home doing laundry and cleaning house I burned more than working out for an hour and sitting at my desk the rest of the day. Interesting, no?

this makes me question your hygene. j/k The world would be boring if we were all the same. D-I'll shoot a person if they send me Reeses or any food related item. Short of that go crazy. HP-Glad to see you. TBS-Yeah, this is our sick little coner of LBT, we're hiding under the exercise forum, in the poorly spelled bycyling thread so people, with over 3000 posts. You need to be a hard core LBT reader, cyclist or lucky to stumble on to us here. 4 of us have met for a bike ride too which was great. We do however, love new people. So jump right in. Tell us of yourself. Married, kids, etc? B- ZZ-Lovin' the bugg. I'm down 2 pounds already. I used to change my ticker when my weight changed but now with BB and only being allowed to update weekly, I'm going to do that here as well, Saturday mornings. I'm missing TX and JC. Hope TX is having fun thanking her husband...
-
I don't have an opinion about the SS...hopefully we know the person well enough to send something not completely off the mark...I don't know what that would be... perhaps bike related or potato related. You all make up the rules.
-
Yeah, I can't imagine why you never were...hell, if the straight girl feels that way is there any wonder why the gay girl gags at the idea. I'm doing my best not to get banned from this board. I've deleted a 4 different lines.... Can we type "spunk"?
-
I tell you I love this thing. Talk about it keeping you moving. I walk futher to a different toilet at work, on a different floor so I must do steps. I was stepping foot to foot while pumping gas. I'm always trying to add just a little more movement to my day. Then there's being real about what I stick in my mouth. I was good on fitday for quite a while but that slacked off in the last month or so. As did my weight loss. I tell you this BB has me as enthusiastic about losing weight as I was back in January and February when I was pre-band. I know, I'm preaching to the choir but this thing ROCKS!

FIHTGDHW has become regular for me. I'm not even going to tell you just how gross the who B/J thing is to me. Okay I guess I am...it's one of those heebee jeebee things that makes me cover my ears and go "na na na" until the convo stops. However in print on a forum it's not that icky. Go crazy talk about it all you want..cool to see how the other 90% live. TBS, ZZ and TX can contribute as well. I could share what I do but that's just gratuitous... and this isn't a XXX forum. Ha.

potatoes and rice get stuck because they are useless food. They are delicious, but for fuck's sake, just eat sugar. Yeah sugar doesn't hold gravy........ahg...gravy........ The bike chica didn't sleep over, thank you very much, because she's one of those skinny bitches we all hate. And she's 52, and she's a bit goofey...oh and because I got the sweetest, hottest and best GF in the freaking world and NO ONE can even begin to compare to her. And the GF is skilled like few people are, and I've got her trained perfectly. I don't want to have to do that all over again.... Now go on.

Dude, After I took one business law class at age 37 I said, holy shit, I should have done this. But then I thought I'd be 50 before I'd make a decent check so I took a pass. Damn having to pay bills. But we'll see how the MBA program goes. I can see me going after a PhD if I'm not too burned out. (maybe)

TBS, You have no idea, we aren't even warm yet. D and BG are particularly warped and they are being quiet.
