3 weeks Post Op - Feeling Guilty
OH Juli replied to BSWhip08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not going tell you to go against your doctor's orders. But at my two week visit I was released to full solids. I kept it squishy mostly and added solids slowly. With that said, the reason you are told mushy is so your stomach doesn't chrun to break down the food which could pull out stitches. Be good bandsters and don't beat yourselves up too much. -
I didn't pb until after my second fill. For me they happen right after I eat. Like within a few minutes. I know when they are going to happen as soon as the bite goes down, but that was a learning curve kind of thing. Do what feels right. You are bound to PB at some point. Here's to hoping it happens when you are alone.

Sweet, C! Off to do a soggy Race for The Cure.
-
Suzzie, As for veggies things like greens, cooked spinach and green beans that have been cooked to grey work for me. Also when I can't stand it anymore I make a Ceasar salad and let it sit for a good thirty minutes to get SOGGY, then it goes down easier. Just a thought. I'm sending a check tomorrow. J

Hi kids, I've started at a new gym and they are kicking my behind. I thought I was fit because I've been working out pretty consistently from the get go. And I am cardiovascularly on top of things, but HOLY COW my body is sore today! I'm glad to be moving differently and I hope it jumps the weight loss too. TGIF! Juli

Well C, If they do turn you down, pout and cry, kick his chair. But trust that it's for the best. There's a finite amount of room in that there band and it's better to use it when you need it. HOWEVER, tell him you are HUNGRY all the time. You are for the most part, right? And that the weight loss you've had has been from determination not from just not feeling hungry and not wanting to eat. And the other thing is the first fill sometimes doesn't feel like much, so don't expect to have perfect restriction either....it is better to creep up on the perfect fill than to be over filled... Keep us posted.

Hi Erikadawn, If you only ridden once, yeah it's just going to hurt until you get used to the seat. You'll find that it hurts less and less and within 2 weeks you shouldn't be sore anymore. But if it has been two weeks and you've ridden a few times, how old is the saddle on your bike? If it's old and brittle get a new one. Well get a new one regardless, if your tushy is still hurting. And don't think that bigger is better because that's not the case. There are woman designed seats you might want to check out. You can get new seats at large box stores like Target, but you might want to check out the local bike shop in your area. The people that work at those places aren't going to give you greif for being overweight either. They love biking and love to help people get on bikes. Hope that helps.

Cool about the flip flops. I'm gonna mail you a check. PM me with your address. Now I'm going to jump on your head: You need to fuel your body with good, healthy food. Just because the band allows you to eat less crappy food doesn't mean that eating crappy food is okay. Your body need nutrition to function well. You need the stuff that's in vegetables and protien. What do you do for a living? Oh, yeah, something medical, right? Well think about the fuel you are sticking in your body. Crap will make you feel crappy. Care about your intestines, your stomach, the fat on your ass, yourself and make some better choices. You know what you should be doing. Now do it. I heart you. I don't think I should quit my day job for that motivational speakers' gig...

Portion Size, Then and Now Here's an article about the change in portion sizes in the last 20 years. Interesting.

I've been biking to work this week as part of a Bike to Work Week in Columbus. I have to say it's not nearly as horrible as I pictured it would be. I'm only 5 miles from work when I don't have to drop my DD at child care. Alas, that's only half the week.

TX, Oh No! Write on the back of your hand or something..."FILLED" so you can remember. sorry. eww

mental_floss Blog How bicycling emancipated women. It's a cool, quick read.

ZZ, Both pink and as similar as you can make them. And wait and see your feet still may shrink. Mine have. I'm 5'2''. Shorty Mc Shorty. At least your feet are proportioned to your bodies. My college roommate was 5'3" and wore size 11 shoes. Her hands were long and elegant, her feet were too, but she walked like a duck. TX, Good news on the fill and the downward moving scale.
-
Well, that's because you volunteered to help with the convention, so I ASSUMED you'd be there. And it's your ass and Brandon's we'd be coming to see. Size 10? How tall are you?

One year at band camp this girl who tap danced was really mean to me. She threw her tap shoe at me and I was tramatized. Ever since then, anyone who tap dances, or dances or even watching Dancing with the Stars sends me into a cold sweat. I don't know you, but I'm sure I wouldn't like you at all because of your name. I hope that was sarcastic enough to not be believable, but really, that's how people think. Every once in a while I find that someone just loathes me, and I'm like, well there's one of my 25%.

I gave them up...I also gave up watching commercials thanks to my DVR. There are more food commercials on kids' TV than there are toy commercials. Food is everywhere, and it's bad, bad food. I'm going to start thinking of it as porn, that bloomin' onion and those cheese fries are triple X rated. I just don't need to see it! But no, I don't watch the cooking shows because I was one to go print off the recipes and try them...:hurray: It's just too tempting.

Boating sounds delightful!

ZZ give me two pairs. Zoe has a BFF who'd dig um too.
-
Yeah, I could care less about the actual convention info. I mean it would be cool, but you KNOW we'd all have to go just so we could meet. Ohio and Michigan would represent I'm sure. Carol, Stacy, am I right? How about Indiana? Traci??? Do we have Idaho on board? D??? Suzzzie, I know you're planning on being out of the country...balls to that is all I got to say. I'll call JC if we have a good contingent and get him there too. Now, that's a party.

I'm SO PISSED OFF!!!
OH Juli replied to singledad167's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call the woman out on it. Be sure she's the one who told your business before you get too pissed with her. People might have put two and two together if you've dropped hints trying to get you to react. -
Those are so cute. I can't wear filp flops! It's a particular kind of torture I get when where them. It feels like one person took my big toe and someone else took my other 4 and ran in the opposite direction. My daughter however would go crazy for them. Girls size 2, in shade of pink? Let me know. It is super quiet in here. Anyone, anyone????
-
Well, that's fantastic! As for offending others, girl, 25% of the people you meet will never like you. Ever, and it has nothing to do with you. You remind them of a bad babysitter or the mean lunch lady... I love stories of courage and bravery. They are inspirational!!!

2008 Conference Update
OH Juli replied to CoachCher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My two cents are that if you are soliciting only from this site good luck getting 20 people to attend. I tried to get a group together for Las Vegas this past January and NO ONE showed up. Mind you it wasn't a conference, it was just a LBT let's all meet kind of thing. I will be staying in a hotel. But having two threads is a might bit confusing... -
Does food ever not become the center of your life
OH Juli replied to anewme2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It does morph into something different. I don't wake up thinking about what will I eat. I don't worry about what people will think about me when they see me eating. Do I focus on food like I used to. Not so much. But I am more successful when I plan my meals and bring my food to work with me. But I think most people who eat mindfully pack their lunch/cook more, simply because you can make healthier choices. It is vastly different, but it isn't an off/on thing. It certainly feels more in control instead of being controlled. HTH J
