It has 24 gears. It's a racer style bike, but not as expensive. So it is light and sleek. You want more gears to be better able to do a range of levels. You might also want to not get a mountain bike unless you plan on going off road. They are designed with chubby tires to hug the ground. That takes more effort to move forward, all the ground hugging. Really, the best thing to do is figure out what kind of biking you want to do then find a bike from there. HTH.

Has anyone bee sucessful without fills ?

Kim You can still plan new and better for you food. You can still plan to go to restaurants, but go less frequently to better quality places. Exercise (go ahead and smack me) is a great hobby. My new interests are seeing my collar bones and feeling stronger. Again, you can smack me--but seriously, you had this surgery so you could shed the past that got you heavy. Look at the new uncharted territory you get to blast through, instead of where you have been. Where you were might have been cozy at times, but I'm sure it had it's bad points too. Good Lucky. J -
Rosi If you want some real suggestions about what to eat post a typical day's meals so we can offer some. Sorry you're having issues. Juli

Wanabethin It's obvious you know you shouldn't eat like that, so no lecture. I too have done it. But what really worked for me was putting all my food into FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal It's a free web based tracker. And so you can totally freak the hell out, put in what you ate a the BBQ. My first day of tracking was when I thought I was being good and I still nearly reached 4000 calories. I thought no wonder I'm slowly gaining. I typically burn 2600 with out extra activity. Let's say I did something that burned 400 more calories that day, that would have left me an excess 1000. 3500 too many equal one pound gained. But the flip side is, the band will help you from binging, and tracking your calories will help you go, "I could make changes there, and there." It's something to think about. Good luck regardless.

I'm still rather new, I was banded in March. I'm with out a fill. I call my band Phyllis. At anyrate, if you are in the right frame of mind, one where you are ready to do what it takes to lose weight, eat properly and exercise, you CAN do it without a fill. An empty band does make some physiological changes. In your head you need to have the behavioral parts and the congnative parts in line too. I think it takes all three. I've lost 2.5 pounds a week average since the first of the year, when I started eating like a loser and moving more. HTH. -
Okay, I've posted this on some of the other places I frequent on here, so if I'm being redundant forgive me. I bought a road bike. A new slick I'm shooting for speeds of 20 mile per hour by summer's end, bike. I've hooked up with a group of women riders and they are so encouraging. They go on 30-50 mile trips every weekend. I hope to get with them soon. I'm going on a baby ride with some members on Tuesday. For you running chicas, I so want to run. I tried when I was about 270 and after a week, my knee said no, you've got to weigh less. So I hopped on a bike. I still want to run and I will. I thought I'd pick it up again around 225. At what weights did you start running? Did I tell you I'm excited about my fancy new bike??? Juli

Okay Gang I spent the weekend at the pool, at the zoo and for a bike ride dragging the kid behind me. Whew. But Friday I bought a new bike. A road bike with skinny tires...etc. Saturday I bought bike shorts with the pad, and gloves and an odometer and a mirror and and and....hehehe. I've hooked up with a group of women riders and they've been very welcoming. I go out with them on Tuesday for my first group ride! Tomorrow I'm going to shoot for 20 miles, I've only done that amount once before and I was beat afterward. I'm hoping the new bike will help make it easier. I'm still fill less but I'm keeping my 2.5 pounds a week average going. Have a great week everyone! XO Juli

I did buy my new road bike on Friday. I didn't get a chance to take it out this weekend, but tomorrow I'm hoping to hit upwards of 20 miles on it and Tuesday I'm riding with a group on an 18 mile jag. I'm so stoked!

Eddie Where's your post? I got it in my email but it's not on here? LBT is something some times. Your ADHD joke made me laugh out loud! Not seeing the honey this weekend but flying into Chicago next Friday for their Pride weekend. Woo hoo. The Newport Aquarium is pretty good, in Newport KY. But I'm not huge on watching fish swim. The kiddo loves it though. Take care and squeeze that man. Kisses, -
Thick Chick That's is out of control! OMG! You win the horrible date contest, hands down. God love you for trying. You know, it's not too much to ask for a little respect, a little dinner, a decent car ride and not getting pushed up on. Thanks for sharing.

Sophie, If you don't think you need a fill, then don't get one. Or advocate for what you want. You know? And I don't have any fill, but PBing happens to me if I eat too quickly, like super fast, and don't chew well. PBing, at least for me is when I hack up what I ate. The awkward pain and saliva thing is sliming or just plain having food get stuck, until it passes through.

Ditto to what robgolin87 says.

Babygirl I have the same issue. I'm in school right now too. As I was talking to my counselor I was going on about what if I fail? I've always stopped when it got tough with weight loss and school. She helped me remember times that I wouldn't give up...like jumping through hoops for 14 months to get this surgery...like being in school now a solid 2 years now. And she said I need to get a new mental picture of myself as not a quitter, but as someone who is persistent. Which kind of clicked because I had been working on getting the a picture of my actual physical self that was more acurate. Before I was over 300 pounds thinking I was healthy. Anyway, it's working to squelch the voice of doubt. And we do become the future we visualize. So when doubt creeps in, push it out with visions of you being victorious. OR better yet, just keep thinking of your positive outcomes so doubt doesn't have room to pop up. Juli

Chickie To spend that money though and know that you'll be able to wear the jeans until they go out of style, not until they get worn out is a nice feeling I bet. And I'm sure they look super hot on your figure too!

D.Mini I know about the boundaries for which you speak. My mom (she's groovey) calls them enegery vampires. I find myself pretty intolerant of people who don't give back any more, but it took some time. I've gotten to the point where I am so busy and so focused on positive outcomes that I can cut those selfish energy sucking people out of my life with little remorse. That has been such a gift. And yeah you for finding a man who charishes you. All people deserve that kind of love. My sweetie does very well by me too.

Nikki, I PB today too for the first time in weeks! I was thinking this band isn't even there! Well low and behold, it reminded me that in fact it was. And this was the momma of all PB's, for me, to date. Holy smokes! Lunchmeat does it to me every single time, if I eat it too fast. You'd think I'd learn.

Believe it or not Columbus Ohio is very Lesbianie. When the Lesbian Connection does a grouping by zip code of their mailing address, my zip and the neighboring one are always in the top 5 nationally. If you don't know the Lesbian Connection or LC or Elsie, is it's a grass roots lesbian magizine that's been aroung 30 years and still going strong. It's humble but great. night ya'll. Stay cool. -
Happy Thursday morning gang. I'm avoiding doing homework. Oi. I know somewhere I posted on here that I'm in school full-time and work full-time. Add to it a 5 year old kid and taking on the very real challenge of losing 180 pounds, I'm feeling a little stretched. Mind you my weight is at a stand still for the last week. And that's my pattern. I drop a pound a day for a 5 or 6 days in a row and then I hold steady for 7 or 8 days. When I'm dropping weight I'm on clound nine. When I've been holding, like now, I'm so frustrated! When will I learn?! So today, as far as food and exercise go, I'm trying to dig a little deeper, stay focused and eat under 1000. I'm going to workout a bit more than usual too, see if I can make the damn scale budge. Thanks for listening. I know this weight loss moves in cycles... Juli

Awe Stephanie, that really touched my heart. You are Cinderella to be true. Good thing that man of yours sees it better than you do! But soon enough she'll be looking back at you from the mirror. Amazing job so far! Minus 30 in 3 months is great!
