*SCARED* I have a stretched pouch...

I also have been having problems with my new band. Lately i've been eating more than 1/2 cup per meal(possibly a cup and a 1/2 per meal) However, I have not received my first fill yet. I told my Dr. I've been eating too much and I was worried I may have stretched my pouch and he told me "don't worry, I haven't gotten my first fill yet". I was under the impression the day they put the lap band on me , i had a pouch created. Can anybody clarify this possible problem? Do I need a fill in order to have slippage or can I do that before a fill? I would appreciate any and all feedback

    Self-pay?

I am self pay, I went through the Wish Center in Downer Grove, Il. I was charged about $9800.00 for the lap band (fills not included) It was a good deal for me rather than fly to Mexico

What did you wear on surgery day?

loose shorts and t-shirt....no bra ....slip on sandals, and i had a big squisshy pillow for the ride home too. The seat belt could hurt your incisions.

    worried bandster

Hi everybody, I just found out I could have done some damage to my 1 week old band. I ate mushies for the 1st time today and i did quite well until dinner, i followed the menu they gave me and i pb'd. Now I have become worried because some people told me I could have ripped some stiches. Is this true? I really followed the menu they gave me but obviously something went wrong becuz i pb'd (1 time) and i also discovered I never want to feel that feeling again. Please converse with me and let me know if I should be worried and what to lok for. I meet my doc next week on the 22nd for post op visit. Thank you

    How Often Do You PB

p.b. stands for productive burp. It is when you spit up the food you just ate and it is mixed with saliva instead of the nasty stomach acid (because it never made it to your stomach) It feels like you have a golf ball stuck inside you. Basically, you need to slow down and chew you food real well.

    I'm Such A Cheater!

Today was my first day of MUSHIES. I was allowed to eat mashed potatos and I had a thumb size piece of ground beef (from meatloaf), I also experienced my first PB as a result of this meal. I threw the rest away and I'm putting myself back on proteins liquids tomorrow, I really never want to experience that feeling again. As for permanent damage to my band, this is the way it works. I hope all is well with it because I just had it put in 1 week ago.

Yep, I'm a bandster. I was banded on wednesday June 7th at 7:30 a.m I was so nervous as I laid in the surgery room ...the next thing I knew, the surgery staff said "wake up, you did great!" WOW!! I can't believe I did it, I'm relieved and although there is some pain, I believe I made the right decision. Thanks to evreybody that encouraged me in the last few days, I was honestly ready to chicken out but I remembered all of the people from this web site, I'm grateful this web site exists.

Thank you ladies for posting so soon after your surgeries, I am scheduled for the first surgery on Wednesday june 7th and I am extremely nervous, I actually woke up in the middle of the night last night wondering if I am really having this surgery or if it was a dream. Please saya prayer cause the nervousness is a big problem at this point, I'm on the clear liquid fast today and I can hardly wait for the surgery but I still am anxious... excited. Reading your posts so soon after your surgery gives me hope. Thank you. Annemarie

I am quite nervous about the surgery on Wednesday. I was never in surgery before and I can't seem to think about anything else for the past 2 months. :rolleyes
  14. I'm a little concerned about this pre op fast. I am worried about this protein drink, I HAVE 6 GRAMS OF FAT IN THE POWDER MIX. Is this too much fat considering my liver is supposed to be shrinking by next week? What drink does everybody else drink? Does everybody have this pre op fast for 10 days? I think I'm getting presurgery jitters, but i'm worried about the liver being injured in the lap procedure.
