Oh MY!!! What a trip, you got some gorgeous pics!!

I can eat salad in the early afternoon to evening. Cant have it at lunch. Some dry meats are a problem. I absolutely cannot eat cabbage! Tried it when I was released to eat "normal" food. MISTAKE! So I havent had it again for awhile. Last night I tried it again a different way, sauteed. Family favorite, nope cant do that either! Came right back up! So from now on I will stay away from it...back to you. Maybe you cant tolerate salad until later in the day? I have a Protein shake in the morning because of being tight. Then at lunch I try something like tuna. Then at dinner I am usually ok to have a salad with my meal. What are you putting in the salad? Maybe its something other than the lettuce? Hope you get it figured out, Deanna

I too had a umbilical hernia, I had tummy pains for years. Not knowing that was what it was until I had a mini tt. Then that area kept sticking out. Went back for a full tt and surgeon said, yep thats what it is. So when he went in to do muscle repair for full tt he fixed the hernia. He did not use mesh, for which I am glad because I have heard that not all mesh works, body rejects it. Anyway, I have had no more pain since it was repaired! It would be great if you could get a tt at the same time. Most plastic surgeons want you 20lbs to goal before they will do a tt. I was not that close when I had mine and now I am way under that and my tt still looks great! Hope that helps! Deanna

Ya, I would be scared by that too! Try a couple of tricks a friend of my daughter does (she has lost 100lbs without the band), I also read these in a health book. One, drink a full glass of Water as soon as you wake up. This helps with metabolism. Take 2 tsps (i think) of apple cider vineagar before a meal. And lots and lots of water! Which we already know we are supposed to be doing. I am at a stand still on the scale and I am going to try to do these tricks to see what happens. Wont hurt Hope this helps, keep me posted! PM me if you just need to vent! Deanna

myTurn, I am so sorry to hear this. How long do you have to wait? Did the doc think you could be refilled? Just try to stay strong, wouldnt you think that you actual stomach has shrunk. That being said, try to stay with the same portions if you can.....maybe it has shrunk enough that it will be satisfied? Well, I hope that you can get refilled soon. Keep us posted! Deanna

The scale keeps jumping and I'm getting a little frustrated!!
TxMomof4 replied to 2livesmart's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same questions! I thought I was at my sweet spot, but I have gained and lost the same 2 to 3 pounds in the last month or so. I want to get this last bit off! So I can feel your frustration! Deanna -
I too get stuck on seaweed in sushi. There is a restaurant here in Tampa that will do sushi in a rice paper. It is wonderful. I actually like it better because I can taste the fish and other ingredients better. I wonder if your restaurant has that available to you? It may be worth asking...... Good Luck Deanna

Bandster Hell SUCKS!
TxMomof4 replied to JenFenRen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
JenFenRen, it is very hard, but right now is not the time to worry about loosing weight. Get healed first, then worry about the weight. Protein is your friend right now. I know its so discouraging, but you can do it! My doc told me it takes at least 6 weeks to heal and until that time dont worry about the scale. Take heart, this too shall pass! Deanna -
Loosening up after a fill
TxMomof4 replied to MrsShannonDennis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is going to sound weird, but are you any where near that time of the month? Reason I ask is that my band gets tighter at that time and usually lasts the week after. So I was thinking that if you were close then maybe you could buy yourself 2 weeks more before you "Had" to get a fill. How long did you wait after your fill to unfill? My doc likes for me to wait at least 2 weeks. Did you do liquids after? One time didnt do my liquids and boy did I pay for it! Miserable for 2 weeks! But it did settle down. Hope this helps, Deanna -
What I couldn't live without post-op
TxMomof4 replied to shrinkingV's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great idea! I just used my moshie pillow, dont know if you know what those are. I got it from SharperImage. Like the Nap pillows, very soft and squishie. I take it with me when I travel, people look at me like I am crazy! But it sure helped with holding me in when I coughed! D -
Way to GOOOOOO!!! "gives gatorgirl a high five" Deanna:thumbup:

Will I Ever See the REAL ME??
TxMomof4 replied to sweetbean70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so glad to see this thread! I too have struggled with this issue. When I got banded in April I was a size 16, now I am a 6. I wonder if it happened so fast that I mind hasnt caught up? I can stand in front of the mirror and see changes, but I nitpick everything I see. Sag here, a puch (sp) there, wrinkles overthere! Pictures are a whole other issue. I see me as I was not as I supposedly am. I think I will take the advice from above and go find pics and then take a current one so I can see the changes. Hopefully I can see the changes Deanna -
Did your doctor set one or did you set one, maybe both? I am 15 pounds to my own goal. Doctor wants me to get down to 125. I am 5'2" and I have had 4 kiddos. My question for everyone is do you feel like 125 is out of reach? I am already sagging and I cant imagine how bad it would be after 25 more pounds! And once I get to whatever goal I get to, I am still wondering how we maintain that? Any comments or suggestions would be more than welcome!! Thanks! D
-
Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions. I really appreciate it. I am not saying that I wont try for 125, might as well. I feel so good at 149, how much better would it feel?!? I just felt like 135 was a little more realistic, but maybe not? I think I will just continue chugging along, I have just now started excersizing, that should help with sag. I know, I should have been doing it all along, but I didnt so better late than never. I love this website, there is so many people on here with great testimonies and suggestions! I dont think I could have made it this far without everyones help! Thanks again, Deanna

it's my 1 year bandiversary!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TxMomof4 replied to 2Flyguys's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats girlfriend! You are such an inspiration! Relish in this day, you have worked hard to get here! Oh, BTW, did you ever platue? and If you did when was it and how did you rev back up? Deanna -
NCLisa, I have been thinking about doing a pilates class on a reformer. Why do you like it so much? I have done a mat pilates before and hated it. But that could have been because I was to heavy to do much of it and got discouraged! But now I think a reformer class might be something good for me. I bulk up easy so weights are a no no and I have a very slim friend who does the reformer and swears by it. Please share with me why you enjoy it so much, I do think small classes would be a big pluss! Thanks, Deanna
-
WOW, you do alot! I only aspire to do that. Well, I started a dance class today and loved it! It will be twice a week for an hour. I am trying to motivate myself to join a local gym. Cant seem to make myself go. I have done personnal trainers and bootcamps. I cannot stand either one. I bulk up so easy, the trainers love that. I want to be sleek not bulky! I may try a pilates class on a reformer. I just know that if I dont enjoy it I wont do it. Thanks for sharing your schedule, your body shows how hard your working!

Unjury or any other "unflavored" protein powder
TxMomof4 replied to thinkingaboutit77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have tried it, and didnt notice any "flavoring". I had also bought the chicken flavor to add to soups. It dissolves well. I just forget to use it! If you have any other questions, just ask! D -
Delivered, Congrats! I feel that way as well, I need a weight that is "real"! I want a weight that will be easy to maintain, not have to continuely worry over it! Good luck! D
-
Wow, that would be skinny!! I wish I was 5'9"! being short sucks sometimes! I would love to be 125 but I am 43 and I havent been 125 since I got married 24 years ago! I have flappy skin already, I think I would be nothing but saggy at 125 at least at 135 there would be a little cushion under there. I dont know, I may get to 135 and decide 125 would be better. My heaviest was 220 so even at 149, I feel great! Thanks for everyones in put!! D
-
Thanks for your opinions, that was kinda how I was feeling. I am at 149 as of today, which feels sooooo good! But I think that 135 would feel even better. D
-
BG, thanks for your blog! I have really enjoyed it! You bring up so many good points and you make me laugh! I thought I was the only one who still thinks she is fat. I may buy a size 6 but my mind still see a size 18 in the mirror, picture. I have tried recently to take pics of me to post on here but cant seem to take one that "I" think looks good (by that I mean thinner). Reading that you and others feel that way makes me know that I am not alone. Thanks!!
