SallyJean, we are band twins! I was banded on the same day as you!! I think you have done amazing, you have lost more than I have. When I went to my consult I weighed 193 and on surgery day I was 188. I am currently at 148, I had to have an emergency unfill 3 weeks ago so I have gained a little. But had 1.5cc put in on Monday, so hopefully I will get some resitriction soon. I was banded in Dallas but have since moved to Florida. I have decided to go to Fill Centers of America and it was a great experience. Reason I am saying that is for this reason, my band doc told me to eat 1/2cup to a cup of food to loose. FCOA says you should be at your sweet spot when you can only eat 1/3 of a cup! Wow, not there yet, but why didnt someone tell me this earlier? I know that there are different opinions about how much to eat, and I feel like that is probably to little. But the opinion is that your stoma will stretch if you keep trying to shove a cup of food in there. Anyway, at least now I know what I should be looking for in my "Sweet Spot".... I think that you have made great strides and remember we are to be a turtle and take our time not the hare who rushes to the end....slow and steady wins the race!! Deanna

Hey friend, the house looks amazing! Still havent done the tree :sneaky: cant get hubby to get it in the house!

Hey Sweet Thang! How have you been? I am so glad to see that you didnt cut your beautiful hair! I am loving the glasses, some people can pull them off and you are one of those people Hows the maintenance going? Is it hard to figure out? I had to have an emergency unfill, so I gained back about 4 pounds. Got refilled today but obly had them add back 1.5cc. Just to see how it goes. Still have about 10 to 15 pounds to go. So I am beginning to think of the maintenance stage. Your pics look great and my has your son grown! Such a goodlooking young man, but of course look at his parents!

Day 6 Post Op and wonder what and why I did this!!
TxMomof4 replied to randim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Randi, All is normal, I too had those same strange feelings. It was like "Am I hungry, or is that gas pains or am I not hungry?" I am only surprised that you are on pureed foods already. I couldnt have anything but broth and Protein Shakes for two weeks then pureed stuff. Also remember that right now its all about the healing of your body. It will all pass and be a faint memory. After about the first 6 weeks, you will look back and be so glad you did this. Its the best thing I have ever done for myself! Good luck and keep us posted, Deanna -

Looking for those who started with BMI 35 or less
TxMomof4 replied to homewith2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey girl, just thought I would let you know that I too had a lower BMI. When I was banded in April I weighed in the 188lb range with a BMI of 34.9. My doc told me I was the perfect candidate because I was healthy and younger than most of his patient (got to love him!). Today I am at about 148 ish and a BMI 0f 27.5. My goal weight is 140. I lost steady for the first 4 or so months, but it has slooowwed waaaay down! But I dont care because I feel so much better! This has been the best thing I could have done for myself. Like others my only regret is that I didnt do it long before now! Try not to get to caught up in the BMI thing, yes its a good guidline but, in my opinion it is way over rated. The reason I say this is because my DH is 5'10" and weighs 190, but you take a prof. football player that is the same height and weight and I can guarantee you that my DH is not in the same shape as that football player is. Dont get me wrong, DH isnt in bad shape But he doesnt work out the way the football player does. My meaning is just go by how you are feeling and how your clothes are fitting. Good luck! Deanna ps: Dont forget to measure before surgery and once a month thereafter!! -
Honey, I am sorry that you are experiancing this. But remember you do have rights. I got my band in April and have had multiple fills and unfills. Only ohce did the PA have to try a second time to hit my port and I have a low profile port. Point being is ask them not to practise on you! You are a newbie and it is very frightening at first! I think the docs and p.a.s tend to forget that we are new at this. Needles can be scary! Next time when you schedule just ask the person on the other line to please not put you with the PA. I requested a particular PA everytime I went in. You have that right! Dont be afraid to stand up for yourself in a respectful manner. Hope this helps, Deanna

12/3/09 The Monster Rears Its Ugly Head
TxMomof4 commented on Band_Groupie's blog entry in The Sweet Spot
Oh BG I am so sorry that you are having this problem. Does your monster have a brother, because I think he has been at my house! Ever since my "emergency" unfill I have been able to eat anything and everything!!! Gained 5 pounds in the process!!! I NEED A FILL!!!!! I hate it when you walk around nibbling on everything trying to satisfy that stinking monster!! -
Lost too much weight, no fill...
TxMomof4 replied to Hutch444's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think this is crap! Just because you have self discipline doesnt mean that you dont need a fill. I agree with the others about the NUT, what is she doing deciding? That should be between you and the doc. And ultimately it should be your decision, this band is a tool to help us to loose not a carrot dangled in front of our faces!! What a tease, I would be pissed, as a matter of fact I would call tomorrow and tell them that you want a fill!! Why else did you get the band? AArgh, sorry, this just infuriates me! D -
i feel like i'm being punished for losing weight...
TxMomof4 replied to 2Flyguys's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2Flyguys, It always breaks my heart to hear when you having problems! You have accomplished an amazing feat, don't let haters bring you down. You are a smart lady, you know who is behind this. I also imagine that you are smart enough to know what you need to do to "fix" the problem. Just make sure it is legal, lol, JK!! Keep your chin up and keep on truckin hot momma! Deanna -
Dont you dare think of going anywhere, We would protest!! I agree with everyone else, you are such a gifted person and you have helped me soooo much! I NEEEDDD your blogs, knowledge and love!

Am I reading my body signals correctly?
TxMomof4 replied to Jordangirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey girl, first congrats on the new band! I think at first my body didnt know what was hungry, not hungry, full not full. It took me about a month before I could tell the difference! It was the weirdest thing. Remember, we want to feel satisfied not overly full. I think we are so trained into thinking that feeling full is the way it is supposed to be. When really what we should feel is satisfied. If I am not mistaken, when we get that full feeling, we have really overeaten! Also, the first 6 weeks is for healing, dont worry about a fill yet. There is plenty of time for that worrisome issue! I imagine you are doing great! Stay focused on healing and you will do great! Deanna -
I don't know about everyone else, but I chew gum all the time! Can't work out without it...just make sure not to swallow your gum. Can't imagine that being a good thing. IMO Deanna

Okay people, what's with losing a shoe size?
TxMomof4 replied to tanqueray's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lost a shoe size, let me start off by saying that when I got married (24yrs ago) I had a size 6 1/2. Then I had 4 kiddos in 6 years. My foot grew to a size 8! I hated it....anyway, now I am a size 7. Which makes me very happy! I love shoes! And I love buying shoes! So, since my old ones don't fit anymore, I buy more :w00t: The only thing I can figure out is that my foot isnt as wide and not as chubby as they were.... Deanna -
What to do? Getting stuck too much
TxMomof4 replied to Sarah.R's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok this is going to sound silly, but in yalls opinion, what is the sweet spot? I have been banded for six months and I am still not sure what the heck that means!! I cant eat breakfast, pb several times a week and if I am not just suuuupppeeerrr slow in eating it gets stuck! Sliders and soup is the chicken way out and I would love to eat somewhat normal! I quit buying a meal for myself, because I cant eat it. Weightloss is slow as well, I am seeking a fill doc here. Just moved to Tampa a couple of months ago. And yes, I have been living with this for awhile :w00t: So I feel your pain! Deanna -
Mine was done by Dr. Manuel Castro, LOVE HIM! Great staff as well, they are at the Methodist Hospital downtown. His web set is www.NewBeginnings.com I think... Deanna
-
LOL yes the first time is such a shock! It will always be disgusting! I hate it, but sometimes it cant be helped! Dee:scared2:

What an accomplishment!! How does it feel? Amazing I imagine! Congratulations! D

Lapbandgirl, first off welcome back! Secondly, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You can do this, you have the tool, use it!! I would think that 50 pounds is doable! Keep us posted! Deanna

I had a BMI of 35.3, I weighed 193 and I am 5'2" tall. I was banded in April of this year and now I am down to 146, which makes my BMI 26.7. My own personal goal weight is 135 which will make me a "healthy" BMI. Being banded is the best thing I have ever done, with the exception of my kiddos! My doctor told me that I was the perfect candidate for the band because I did not have any co-morbidities yet and I was not too overweight and still fairly young, ha, gotta love him for that one! I think if you have a doctor you like and he has approved you, GO FOR IT! Deanna

Well BG, you've gone and done it! You have read my mind again, one difference is you are much better at understanding me than I am! That is excatly where I am, LIMBO LAND! Yes banster hell is hell, and yes buying new clothes is fun, BUT LIMBO LAND is it's own little hell. 12 pounds seem so small, little, not much more to go.....but from here, it is as long as the beginning of this journey was! Now I measure my weight loss in ounces instead of pounds. That IS it's own little LIMBO HELL! Thank you for understanding! Deanna

Found a delicious, convenient, high protein, low fat food...it's affordable too!
TxMomof4 replied to coloradobanding's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for sharing this info, I went looking for it and found it!! We ate the beef straganoff one the other night, LOVED IT! So easy and quick. Only thing is the sodium, may not want to do that one often :blushing: Deanna
