PLEASE DO NOT GIVE UP!!! I had the exact same feelings after my surgery 6/12/09. I thought I had made a huge mistake, I felt horrible, I wanted food and I was so miserable. That was gone by 1 wk post op. Now I am 3 wks out and delighted I went through with it. I do not feel "full" quickly but I make myself stop because I know I want to lose wt and in the end I am satisfied!! i am proud of you- just keep your spirits up- it WILL GET EASIER!!! :smile2:

How quickly did your diet advance after surgery??

Hello all, Just a question. I was banded June 12 and am dying for a little meat (ie: hamburger or lunch meat). When were you allowed to leave the mushies and go to these meats?? I do not want to go against doctors orders, especially if it will hurt me, but want to see if anybody else got meats sooner. Thanks Michelle -
Can't control the hunger

Hello Mrs. Axl Rose, Were you on a diet pre op?? I was put on liquids 2 wks before surgery at which time I had to really deal with my food addiction. I was shaking, sweating, and feeling crazy the first 3 days and was ready to give up. I felt I needed to eat to enjoy life so why not enjoy life with food rather than do this diet. My family was very supportive and today I am greatful for that. Through this experience, I am taking control of my life and food choices. I am on mushies (and not being filled with the small amount of food I am given now) but will stop eating when I know it has been enough food. I am taking control and not letting food take control of me. You need to decide who is going to win- you or your desire to eat!!! Maybe go to just liquids for 2 wks and then start slowly to see if the addiction can be overcome. Best of luck to you Michelle:blink: -
Have finally joined the banded

Congrats on the banding!! I was banded June 12 and had the diarrhea the entire time I was on liquids before and after surgery. I felt if I wanted to drink something, I could not leave the house because I knew where I would need to be. It will get better, I promise. Now that I am on mushies, it is much better and nice to have normal BMs again. Michelle:thumbup: -

Hello and congrats on the surgery!!! I had surgery June 12 and feel so incredibly much better than I did a week ago. I really did not need pain medication after the 13th but still had a little discomfort. JUST WALK!!! Nothing better we can do than that. I was ready to lose my mind by the 18th and went to see my doctor (really wanted him to take the band out because I was happier in my old life) but he allowed me to start soft solids and I LOVE MY BAND!!! I ate 1/2 of a boiled red potatoe (without skin) and 15 canned green beans, and was STUFFED!!! I cannot eat near what I used to eat and love this band. Good luck and stay positive!! It will get much easier. -
Way to go!!! I too had my band placed on June 12 and also doing great, except for the rumbling in my tummy!!! I finally figured out how I feel, Like I just got over a 5 day stomach flu??? How does that compare with you??? I am so ready to go past the protein shakes, water, jello, etc stage and move onto cottage cheese or else just creamy something!!! Let me know how you are doing?? :blushing: Thanks Michelle St. Louis, MO

Hello, Does anybody have any suggestions for protein shakes. I started today and my doctor wants me to take in 5 protein shakes a day along with sugar free liquids. I have taken in 3 shakes, feel extremely ill and vomited shake number 4. ANY SUGGESTIONS? Sucks that this is day 1 of 14. Thanks

Protein shakes make me vomit
mpetterc replied to mpetterc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor had me buy the BMR shakes (178.00 for 2 wks). I do not think it is the flavor because they actually taste good, so do not know why I cannot drink another. The chocolate at GNC is also wonderful. I had some low sodium chicken boullion tonight which was wonderful- one more sweet thing and I may never eat sweets again. I want to quit but know I really do not want to and would be angry with myself if I did. Thanks for all of the suggestions.
