I love salad, and i have to admit tonight I had a salad with ranch dressing... concidering i can barely get my calories in each day, I don't feel at all bad about it. will I eat fatty dressing on a regular basis? no but as a treat... sure... i was craving salad over icecream lol.... how rare is that. I agree when I saw that salads are "not a good choice for the band"... it pissed me off a bit simply bc I got the lapband so I'd never have to "diet" again. If you start eliminating foods and food groups, sounds like a diet to me. As long as u are eating a well balenced diet, I see no reason to give anything up. This is a new life style, not another flippin diet. good luck to all and eat a salad... hell throw on some dressing once in a while! amy

I have aNSV... I grabbed a pair of jeans in my closet that I thought were a 16 and pulled them on and they fit nicely... I then took them off to see if I accedently took the 18's instead, i did a double take when I saw that they were a 16 lol... granted they have stretch to them , but I was so excited seeing as if 7 weeks ago I couldn't even get them close to buttoned!!! so I can offically say I am a 16/18 wooohooo from a very tight 20!! And the other day I went into New York and Co and I saw a pretty shirt... It was a large and I figured hey I might as well buy it... it will fit eventually... well I got home and tried it on and OMGoodness IT FIT, and it wasn't even tight or awful looking.. it looked NICE WOOOHOOOOO!!!!! so exciting lol. Love this thread!! can't wait to hear all of your NSV and I'll post more as they come up! amy

I have to say that the moment I decided to have the surgery I KNEW in my heart that this would work without a doubt. I also affirmed that i would have an easy time of it. I think bc i was so positive i set myself up for a positive experience. Maybe im being naieve in my thoughts, but this has been a WONDERFUL experience, and I was determined not to focus on the negitive things that I have heard or read ie... PBing or slipage etc... lots of luck all, stay positive!! amy

wow that is horrible... maybe they are so hateful bc they know they will gain it back and they know you won't! i can't imagin someone attacking u for your choice of weight loss methods. when ppl start attacking it is usually the insecurity of the attacker. i just want u to know that i am glad u have found a combination that works for you. as we both know lapband IS NOT the easy way out. We have to work just as hard to lose weight as someone who doesn't have it. the band just gives us more control of our portions, not what we choose to put in our mouths. if i were u I wouldn't go to that site anymore... u need support in your journey not cruelty. good luck on ur journey! amy

Hi lulu, i would talk to him very openly and honestly ( in a way that won't make him feel horrible). tell him how much you love him... tell him your first and formost concerned for his health and very carefully express the fact that you are still attracted to him, but are afraid of what could happen to the relatinship should he continue to gain ei.. sex may be more difficult if he gets bigger ect... if you feel nervous talking to him, maybe a therapist would be helpful. i wish u lots of luck, amy

I don't beleive in satan... i think ppl have good and bad in their nature, not being swayed by the devil. I sort of sum it up to the scare tactics the church uses on ppl, along with sin and damnation.

high cholestrol was concidered one. I was told u have to have a bmi of at least 35 or was it 36 with at least 2 comorbidities. I also think my reflux was concidered a comorbibidy. good luck, amy

hi all... ok first... Plain thats a tough question (about bisexuals being born that way)... I think for some ppl yes I think so, for some I think its just natural curiosity, for others I think its a choice ie... kids wanting to be cool. But I do beleive that ppl are born with curiosity. I see PG has found a friend! I think pansexuality is what many bisexuals are in actuality. I know of many "bisexuals"who have expressed that it isn't a particular sex that they are attracted to, its the person, if they happen to be the same sex then so be it. I think love is what its all about. Ppl go through life searching for love, I say grab it where u can! (and no it is not a sin) amy

400lb and clueless...pls read
gamyj replied to ms.brimw's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi ms, I think if the lapband is really your surgery of choice, I would get a second opinion with a different surgon. I have heard of ppl losing 200 lbs with the band, but it is hard work and there still might be excess skin to deal with. Im not sure your hight, or what your goal weight should be, so its hard to say. Many ppl have to try and lose weight for 6 months before surgery, maybe you could lose some, and the band could be more attainable. Id get a second opinion and go from there. wishing u lots of luck in your journey, amy -
I saw that movie prayers for bobby. It was a wonderful movie, and a true story. The suicide rate for young homosexuals are soooo high due to the whole "sin" factor. I think it is rediculous to think that those poor children are so beaten down by the beleifs of the church that they feel there is no other way out other than suicide. To me that is a clear indicator that homosexuality is not a choice. amy

gamyj replied to sandi1011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
same here, at this point I can eat anything without a problem, I just limit my portions. I keep in mind that this is a lifestyle change not a diet. good luck all! amy -

PG quit your preaching... Beth has her beleifs and doesn't have to preach them... it doesn't mean shes on the fence about anything, nor does it mean she is any less of a christian, she is respectful of others beleifs and doesn't have the need to shove it down anyones throat. You are really a peice of work.... I thought we ALL made it clear that you are loud and obnoxtious and not wanted.

I agree Nanook... thank you for calming me. I love learning about other cultures and religions. I don't really go to temple anymore... i found the sevices not very spiritual, but I very much feel connected with my culture and people. I am spiritual and find so much beauty in other cultures and religions. Yet I am alway a Jew. Fear is a terrible thing, it is what tears ppl apart, it is what wars are made of, it can breed terrible hate. I wish more ppl were like you. thanks again amy

how old are you Joan, and is there something I can help you with? amy

I love that nickname... i love the native american culture, it is beautiful and peaceful. I just am having a really hard time having my faith attacked bc I don't beleive in the same thing as crazy does. I agree that she picks and chooses what she wants to beleive and live by. thank goodness, the religious leaders of our country, those of all faithes, aren't intollerent and ridgid and hateful as PG. She forgets that there are many many cultures that don't go by the bible, never even heard of it, and still have a relationship with G*D be it a different name they call Him. The native americans just for one, are one of the most spirital peoples, they have another name for Him, but no doubt it is He. Ignorance and hate is so ugly as she continually proves on this thread. omg I don't know how anyone can compare the atrocities of raping a child to a loving relationship between 2 people reguardless if they are the same sex. Its so skuwed to me. amy

thanks Nanook and Beth. Nanook isn't that a native american word for bear?
