  1. I know I kind of stalled myself for a little, but they say this is lap band hell I guess. I do feel better and like I said before my clothes are starting to look big so thats good. My next fill is on july 29, I sure hope I get some restriction with that one.

I'll be with the family during the day and my friend is throwing a party so a bunch of us will be hanging out there. It just sucks cause I can't drink yet so I'm gonna have to just feed off of everyone else getting drunk. LOL! How about you doing anything fun?

  2. thats good to hear. I'm not doing too bad, don't go in for my next fill until the end of july so I'm really looking forward to that. But yeah I'm noticing a big difference in my clothes also, and it feels awesome. Weekend was good, weather was great, its been really humid and rainy the last few weeks and this weekend was warm but not humid, so it was nice for a change. I so didn't want to go to work today cause its so nice. I saw transformers this weekend also , and that was good just a little long.

  3. Hey Jenn, what's going on? How's everything going? Anything new going on?

  4. Dab, that is awesome, and you are truly an inspiration. I have read your posts before and we have talked, but you only have had one fill and you feel good restriction? I had a fill on 6-10, 4 cc's and I feel no restriction so I have to get back in to the doctor. I have been working really hard to make sure I watch what I eat and not slip off the wagon. Either way thanks for keeping us posted on your journey, it truly motivates us to stay on track. Congrats and good luck with your next goal.
  5. wow I'm a little surprised and taken aback from the first couple of comments. I understand there's a mental thing to get over, but I would assume you would have been able to get over that before starting you're journey. And by the way I'm not putting anyone down, with all do respect I just don't understand your views on this. I would think that you would be happy and excited to be able to just eat your Protein and a couple bites of veggies and be full. I mean that's the whole point of having the surgery right? I was banded on 5-8-09 and had my first fill on 6-10-09 and I have absolutely no restriction. I am killing myself trying to stay on track and not eat everything in site. I think I'm doing a pretty damn good job so far but I would give up anything right now to be able to have the type of restriction you guys are having. Just stay focused and ask yourself would you rather be in your shoes, where you actually feel full or in mine where you're killing yourself making sure you're not over eating. Sarahbellzz I know what you mean, I actually had pizza the other night and after having two sqaures I left the room and went outside cause I know I would have eaten a few more. It didn't seem to bother me at all. After everyone was done I went back in and had some veggies to fill me up.
  6. Not sure of any in Rockford, but I had mine done with Dr Kane, at the Kane Center. He's affiliated with Alexian Brothers hospital. My experience so far has been outstanding, the staff, both with his office and the hospital and he his awesome. His father was one of the first doctors in the midwest to do weight lost surgery about 40 years ago and he's followed in his fathers foot steps. He is awesome!!!!!
  7. Hey Jenn, How are you doing? I'm sure you're excited about getting to soft solids today. My first day of soft solids, I must have planned out my menu for the day like 3 days before. It was so funny, everyone was making fun of me but I was like hey you stay on liquids for 3 weeks and tell me how you'll feel when you have your first regular meal. Since I don't have any restriction yet I'm still doing that now. I have to plan everything the night before and I right down when to eat and snack so that I don't feel hungry throughout the day. And it really sucks at work sometimes cause there's always a party or someone bringing in some kind of food and it's like people get away from me. LOL. But, I'm staying strong. Ok I think I'm blabbing too much but its just nice to be able to talk to someone on a personal level thats going through this whole thing like I am. Anyway hope you're doing well. Talk to you later!!!

  8. Oh not too bad, thanks for asking. Just trying to figure all this out and make it as easy as possible for myself. Like I said before my first fill went really well, but I don't have much restriction so I really need to make sure I'm watching everything that I am putting in my mouth. Other than that though everything is going wonderful for now. How about yourself, you must be off of mushies already or soon correct? Finally time to eat some real food. LOL.

    Vitamin Help!

I use the Viactiv, Multivitamin is milk chocolate and I also use the calcium which is caramel. I love them. Since I love my chocolate its a great substitution. The only con is that if you don't drink something after about ten minutes you kind of get a weird metallic taste but a sip of anything will get rid of that.
  10. Im actually feeling pretty good, thanks. My doctor wants me on liquids all day today so all I had was a Protein shake for Breakfast and some Soup for lunch and all that wonderful crystal light. LOL. It hasn't been too bad, stomach kind of growling but not feeling really hungry. WOW your doctor is on an express plan. I was on Clear Liquids for a week, then full liquids, then mushies for the third week. It was tough but I stayed really focused. I didn't want to do anything wrong and mess something up.
  11. Hey Jenn, First fill went great thanks for asking. I was a little nervous about it, but the only thing I felt was the numbing shot which was a pinch and a little burn. That was about it, I didn't even feel the other needle or anything else, that was pretty cool. As far as the Protein powder in the Water goes. Yeah it changes the texture obviously but as far as taste went it wasn't too bad. I used a tastless protein powder which I bought from my doctor's e-store and it was good cause I added it to anything I ate. I attached something below so you can see what it is. By the way when was your surgery? [ MORE INFO ]100% Any whey Protein Optimum Nutrition 100% ANY WHEY Protein is the perfect compliment to any meal or snack. This virtually tasteless powder is fat FREE with 17 grams of protein and only 1 gram of carbohydrates. 100% ANY WHEY Protein is the ideal protein supplement. 30 servings per container. $ 21.95
  12. It does get easier, obviously be careful but don't over think things, thats when you begin to drive yourself crazy. I seriously attached a water bottle to my hand, LOL, so I would remember to keep drinking even if I wasn't thirsty. I was lucky enough to not really be too hungry even at the mushy stage so I wasn't eating much either. I just made sure I would get all the protein in using protein powder. Some days I would add it to my water just to make my protein goal for the day. In between meals just continue to drink so that you get all your water in for the day. I add crystal light to it and its a lot better. I am 5 weeks post op now and actually am going in for my first fill in a few hours. Well Good Luck and I'm sure you'll do great.

  14. I have to say that I think everyone's body reacts to the band differently. I was banded on May 8th of this year. All I was reading about was how hungry everyone was the first month or so after surgery. For me it was the total opposite i was on clear liquids the first week and then went to full liquids. There were times I couldn't get through a 10 oz can of cream soup for lunch or dinner. And believe me I could eat. Even when I went to Mushies the third week, it was tough for me to get down a half cup of whatever it was I was eating. Also, a response to BDS_Geologist, actually 100 lbs in a few months is very possible. Because you have to also look at the size of the person. Obviously someone who is anywhere between 250 and 350, there's no way they're losing 100 lbs in a few months. As for myself I went into the operation (may 8th) at 570, at my post op (may 20th) I weighed in at 529. It felt fantastic, I am getting my first fill on June 10th and I'm sure I lost a bunch more and am pretty confident that I will have lost 100lbs within a month and a half or two the most. So just remember to stay positive and that its a tool and you still have to work for it.

    Sticking together

You are absolutely right, and I also want to thank everyone for the support. I don't know what I would have done without this site. As far as that post you copied, that was crazy. I have to say I have been very lucky to not have a lot of pain and everything went really well. I would never even think about cheating in any way on my diet. I have followed it to a T. I couldn't even imagine eating something I wasn't suppose to and being miserable and in pain because of it. I'm not trying to brag but I have been super awesome on my diet and have done super so far. On my surgery date May 8th I weighed in at 570, at my post op appointment May 20th I weighed in at 529. That's 40 lbs in 13 days and that is crazy. My doctor was very surprised and new that I followed everything by the book. Well anyway good luck to everyone and hope to hear that everyone is doing good and remember just stay positive and remember its all worth it in the end.
  16. Well I have to say I'm pretty excited. Day of operation weighed in at 570, just got back from my post op appointment and we are down to 530. Thats unbelievable, I know it's been strictly liquids but 40 lbs in 13 days is pretty sick. Well, that was the first step, we'll go from here.
  17. Dab, You are truly an inspiration. I was just banded on May 8th of this year. I am starting my journey a little heavier than you were. Preop-597, day of operation- 570. Your story has definately given me hope that it is possible to achieve your goal. I haven't really put out a goal weight yet. I just want to take it one day at a time and go from there. I'm doing really well, everything went well and I have had no problems so far. My first appointment is wednesday the 20th and we'll see if we lost some weight. I've been on liquids so far so I'm sure I lost a few. Good Luck to everyone and remember to always stay positive.

Easy way to get my protein in

Thats awesome, i got this AnyWhey protein powder from my doctor's website. Suburbansurgicalcare.com It is also unflavored and I added some to my apple juice today. I have to be on clear liquids for a week so there's not much variety really to choose from. But I think I will just be adding that powder to everything and make sure I get my 60 grams a day. I actually think I'm going to add it to my water also in between meals to make sure I get it all in.

    May 8th Surgery Stories

Yeah, thats exactly what I've been doing. And yes I don't understand how jello and popsicle are clear. I was also told that I can have apple juice also. Have you been adding protein powder to your food. Cause I really don't think I'll be getting all my protein with just my soup and jello?

    May 8th Surgery Stories

Well I'm back. Arrived at the hospital about 830 was in back getting prepped by 900. Got dressed in my wonderful gown and hat, met with the nurse, and all the doctors that would be in the OR with me. about 1045 after giving me all the shots and putting in the IV they rolled me into the OR. They slid me onto the operating table and began to prep me, next thing I know I was being rolled out of the OR not knowing where the hell I was at and coughing. I asked what was going on and the nurse looked at me and answered, you're all done we're moving you to recovery. I was in a little pain at that time so they gave me some pain meds. My doctor required an overnight stay so I was moved to a private room by 300. The staff at the hospital was unbelievable. They were so nice and helpful. Have not been in any real pain since the surgery, was able to walk around later that night. The only pain I'm really feeling is a soreness like I've done a 1000 situps. I got home yesterday at about 400 and was very sleepy all night. I feel great this morning just a little soreness in the abdomen when getting up and sitting down. Well first part of this journey is done, now for the rest to start. Has anyone really felt like eating anything and if you have what have you been eating?

    May 8th Surgery Stories

Yes definately see you on the other side. I am super excited but what is really weird is the fact that I'm not as nervous as I have been. I just don't seem to understand it. But, I won't complain about it. Good Luck to all and talk to you in a few days.
