  1. heyyy ur my lap-band twin...we have the same surgery date =]!!
  2. Okay so I have told a few of my very close friends about my surgery, and they understand and think it's a great thing for me to do. I have also told my manager at work and told her that it was personal and something i didn't want everyone to know ( i know she will respect my wishes). but the other day I was talkin to my manager about the procedure and one of the other reservationists over-heard us, and asked my why I was getting surgery. I told her that I was getting lap-band surgery, and i also told her that i didn't want everyone knowing (after I told her I got this bad feeling in my stomach, b/c i know she has a big mouth). well I recieved a call from one of my bf last night while she was at work (b/c she works at the same restaurant that i do), she called me to let me know that this girl is talking about my surgery behind my back (saying it's the easy way out and you all know the gist). Well I really don't want anyone else knowing..and I know I have to talk to her and tell her how I feel, but my manager also wants to know if i want her to talk to her. I'm really not sure what to do, i have never been good with confrontation...but i'm so pissed off I don't think i will have the power not to blow up on her. has anything like this every happend to you? what did you do about it? (the real problem is that it's where i work...and i can't go to work everyday uncomfortable)

how should I handle this situation?

Hey everyone..I really appreciate all of your responses & opinions they are very helpful. let me clarify I don't want all of the people I WORK with to know, I'm not close with everyone there and it's a personal matter. I don't want to be judged by people who know less than my name (I work in a large restaurant). I knew I made a mistake when I told her, and I regret that decision, but seriously no matter if I told her or not it's not her buisiness to be spreading (esp. at work). I don't care if she goes home and tells her momma or her grandmaw...but not the people I have to WORK with. It's not that I am embarassed by the band, I'm embarassed by my weight issue...and I always have been. (because I am a VERYYY private person, I don't want to wear a sign on my head that says i had WLS, i am a sensitive person and it's very easy for my feelings to get hurt...and it's even harder for me to stand up for myself...so I don't want to have to explain myslef to complete strangers, and i think i should have that right.) I admit I made a mistake by telling her, and now I'm going to pay for it...but I think that I should at least let her know that I don't appreciate her talking about what she has no buisiness to be talking about.
  4. i have just started loosing b/c i'm on my pre-op diet..or i will be in a couple days. I am getting banded on april 4th. I have strugled with my weight my whole life, but I have only been overweight (and more recently obese) for about 3 years, I still know how great it feels to loose weight & i still know how great I felt at my lowest weight of 128...so I plan on going a little further this time and I set my goal @ 120-125lbs (I have a very small frame and I'm only 5'2"). I susspect that I will know when to stop loosing & start maintaining (or at least my body will). But I think that you should choose your "ideal" weight and use the "normal" BMI ranges to guide you, after all it's not really about the # on the scale it's about how you feel!
  5. thankss everyone!! heyy monkeyy i have glasses, my primary has checked it out, and i don't have any allergies that i know of! i have always had intense headaches ever since I was a child, but it has gotten worse with the weight gain ( hopefully it will clear up). thanks again everyone...you have been most helpful (as per usual) =]

    April Bandsters?

I am reading all of your posts & I can't believe how long your doc. wants you on a liquid diet, mine only wants me on one 4 days pre-op. Y'all think this is bad?
  7. I am 228 right now..by the time I go in to be banded on April 6th (after pre-op diet), I expect to be about 218 and I am 5'2". The only medical problem I have besides my weight issue is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, and I got approved by my insurance in less than 3days. I will be going on my pre-op diet next thursday (as instructed by my surgeon), and hopefully everything will go smoothly 4 days later when I am in surgery. good luck to you, the juice is deff. worth the squeze!

  10. Hello to all, I have a question for y'all, has anyone else been diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) [b4 surgery]? here is some background info on the disease: It's an endocrine disorder that affects about 5% of all females. It is the most common hormonal disorder among women of reproductive age, and is the leading cause of inferitility:crying:. Some of the principal features are WEIGHT PROBLEMS, lack of regular ovulation or menstruation, and excessive amounts of masculizing (makes u look like a man) hormones. Symptoms and severity of the syndrome vary greatly among women, and while causes are not known insulin risistance, diabetes, and OBESITY are all strongly associated with the disease. Well my real question is has anyone been diagnosed with this problem? after losing weight did your obgyn say that the problem went away? can you or have you had children whilst having this disease? or after you have lost the weight did the doctor say that PCOS went away and now you can have kids? I'm very curious to get some answers, because I have been diagnosed with PCOS, and the doctor told me that it may be hard for me to have kids when I actually want them:crying:. He also made it seem as if I lost the weight this problem would go away. I didn't have this issue before I put on the weight [just for informations sake]. any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks
  11. My doctor says that we can have coffee (but it must be black) with no sugar or cream, milk, or anything of that nature. I'm not a huge coffee drinker...but this may affect me..b/c on occassion i do like to have a cup of coffee with milk and sugar.
  12. i didn't mean that i wasn't going to leave the house ever...i just don't think that i will want to go grocery shopping..i just want to have everything in place...so I don't have to go out to get anything [besides the fact that I'm sort of a homebody..i like being at home]! i'm just excited and I want to take every step to make this a pleasent experience =]
  13. Okayy so I have a shopping list of somethings I need, but I would like to know (since I won't be leaving the house for a while) what will I need to stock up on to get me through my liquids and mushies phase?? Also anything you wish you would have had to help through the healing process (not pertaining to food...or even if it is). *I realize the wording of this post may be hard to understand, & i'm sorry for that...i just couldn't think of a better way to put it* any help would be appreciated ...thankss

    Outrageous fill costs

this is something that i need to look into...i am schedualed for surgery for the 6th of april and my insurance is covering 90% of that cost, hopefully they cover fills as well! deff. something i need to look into
  20. haha oh dear they all are lol!! from my experience you will gain all of it back..+ loads more to spare!!! I was at 160lbs I lost all the way down to 130lbs...and then I started to regain...and boy did I...went all the way up to 235 (where I am now pre-surgery *having surgery on the 6th of april*)!! so that means all together I gained 105lbs, which is 75lbs more than I weighed before the diet! I'm sure that you can tell that it's no coincedence that we all have just about the same story to tell ( I lost some then I gained all of it back + a lot more)! Good luck with everything, and don't let anyone talk you into or out of something that you feel is right for you! :tt2:
  21. I just wanted to let you know how much of an insparation you are to me!!! you look amazing, and I can only hope for the same success you had! =]

  22. Hello, I'm just curious how many pounds should I expect to lose in a month? I'm not in a rush..I just want to know what I have to look forward to. If I lose 8lbs a month then I would reach my goal in one year (just some insight). How many pounds did you lose in the 1st month, the second, the third, the fourth etc.?? I am just oh so curious :lunch:
  23. I totally agree, when you have too many calories and not enough excercise then you will gain weight. to lose weight you have to increase excersice and decreasee calorie intake. the reason people hit a plateua is cause they have been doing the same exact thing for too long. to break a plateau you have to either cut calories or increase excersise, or both. Think weight watchers...if you follow their program...they will decrease the amount of points you are allowed a day because you are losing weight and don't need that many anymore.

How many pounds did you lose in a month?

well i have about 95lbs to lose to be at a normal weight, but I would really like to lose 100-110lbs. The lowest weight I have ever been at was at 130 (and that's about 95lbs from where i am now), & I would be happy at 140, but I would like to know what I would look like at 120 or 125 (that's why that is my goal weight. Once I get down to 150 i'll start feeling normal again. But just about every time i have lost weight...it comes off fairly quick if i'm trying my hardest...so i guess we will see. I know that I will eventually get to where I want to be, no worries lol!
