I don't really have any restriction....
Can Do It replied to ashleyb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got banded on March 5th and then on the 11th, which was this past Wed. my Doctor switched me to mushies. I'd lost 14 lbs since the 1st of March on Wed. but was worried about actually eating food instead of liquids. I thought I'd gain, so I've stuck to a low cal, high protein diet. It seems to work because I've lost another 2 lbs since Wed. I've been trying mostly mushy foods but, I have ventured on to eat salad, chicken, and pasta but I just chewed it so much that it was mushy. I'm trying to stick in the mushy diet but I feel as long as it's mushy consistency before it hits the band, all should go well. -
Vomiting 2 days after surgery
Can Do It replied to Alyson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like Everyone else said, you should call your doctor. But, for ways to handle the situation until you can get to the doctor, try drinking everything room temperature, nothing cold because the day of my surgery in the hospital I took a drink of cold Water and was fixing to throw up with the nurse held a alcohol wipe under my nose. The feeling instantly went away. So I would try the alcohol wipe if you get that feeling again. She said that some people can't handle cold stuff yet. Now, 1.5 weeks post-op I can drink cold things again. -
I'm a week and a half post-op and I'm on a soft, mushy food diet. I've been working on getting at least 50g of protein in a day but feel horrible that i'm able to eat about a cup to a cup and a half of food at a time, is that normal? My first fill is in 4 weeks and my main goal as of now is to not gain any of the 14 lbs I lost this past two weeks back. I'm just wondering how everyone got through this Post-Op, Pre-Fill time. I've stayed under 800 calories every day, Is a cup of healthy, protein filled food three times a day bad? I just need some back-up.

Post-Op, Pre-Fill Aggravation

Thank you girls for the support. I guess I just needed to get in check. By the way, ThinkinHealthy, Congrats on YOUR weight loss. I've heard of Bandster Hell, but I guess I thought I'd be fine until the first day of soft, mushies. Then I just thought I've been on liquids for two weeks and lost some weight but what happens when i get food in me? Nicanette, Your time is coming and it is so worth it to be able to at least get some substance. Every Doc is different which amazes me, but you're almost there! Princessmoni: I'm thinking the same thing you are. I'm sure that Pre-Surgery I consumed at least 2000 calories a day and so keeping it at around 800 should continue the loss, but who knows. I have yet to buy a scale and so I'm going to do that today and I've decided to weigh only twice a week, just so I don't get obsessed. We'll see how it goes when I weigh tomorrow, that will be 4 days on mushies. THanks for all the support girls. -
Calling All MARCH '09 Bandsters - We need a name!

First day back was OK. Luckily I had my 1 week Post-Op appt in the afternoon so I only had half of a day. I'm a training developer for the Army, so it's pretty much just computer work. I've lost 14 lbs since starting my Optifast diet 5 days before surgery. Pretty Stoked!! I had to come home and catch a quick snooze after the appt, so we'll see if I can make it through tomorrow. Good Luck on catching back up with work. -

First off Congrats on the Surgery and Weight Loss. That's big. I had my surgery on the 5th and I seem to be doing pretty good. My doctor wants an all clear liquid diet for the first week and then normal foods after that. But I guess i've cheated in the way that i've tried normal soupy foods in the past two days, just to stop the stomach from rumbling. I'm right there with you on not being able to get much down. It takes me 10 minutes to get 2 bites in and after that I seem fuller than ever. Do you think this restriction will change? I think my band is empty (I'm pretty sure that's what the doc said) and my first fill isn't for another 5 weeks so I'm just wondering if the restriction will last for another month at least so I won't feel the need to eat more. -

Miss Cheryl: Tomorrow is my first day back, which, luckily, I have my first check-up at 2:00 in the afternoon so I guess I'll get the afternoon off. I'm prettty worried about heading back to work, I know I'm lucky to have had a week off but I'm just wondering how I'll do. Yesterday "Day 5" was the one for me. I just woke up feeling great, so I got out of the house and got a pedi/mani and shopped a bit but by the evening time I found myself a bit exhausted. So I know now to take it easy. Today's my last day home and I'm just gonna hang out at the house and maybe catch a nap one more time before going back to work. Don't worry about your stomach because mine is like that as well. It's like there's a bubble right under my chest, which is where my incisions are. I've been trying to get rid of the extra gas and water that they pumped into me in the hospital for hydration before my weigh-in tomorrow. Keep up the good work! A year from now we'll be some Hotties! -

Miss Cheryl: I'm happy to hear you're doing well too. Yesterday was my first day the stomach growling so I watered down some tomato soup and you're correct- It was AWESOME! haha. I didn't even get 1/4 cup down, only a couple of tbsp full. Liquids seem to be going down much easier as the days go by. So far seems we're both on the right track! We're DOING GREAT! I hope it keeps like this too, if so I'll be down to my goal weight in no time. -

Hey Queen V, I know that everyone is completely different on healing time but I had my surgery on Thursday and two days later I'm doing ok. Still sore in the stomach area but I'm able to move around and do some small cleaning in the house. If you have a desk job, I don't see why taking more than 2 or 3 days off after surgery would be a problem. I took off a week just because I didn't know but I think by Monday I'll be up and runnin' (not literally, haha). Good Luck! -

Thanks so Much for the advice. I was super nervous when I went in yesterday and told the nurse so they tricked me. All I remember is them saying "We're just gonna start giving you oxygen..." and I was out. So I didn't have time to really panick. I made it home today (due to an overnight stay for insurance purposes) and I'm just trying to relax. But I thought I'd get on here and say that All went great and good luck to everyone who's getting it done soon. Walking sure does make the gas go away and all that's left is the soreness of your stomach like you've done an hour long Ab Attack Class at a gym. Literally - AB ATTACK! Loving it already though! -

Hey All! I've been dying to get on here for weeks and talk with others that are going through the same thing as me but am just now getting the chance. My surgery is tomorrow-March 5- and I'm super excited but so nervous. Any advice?
