Barbara I'm wondering if you shouldn't count the liquids in your Soup. When I was on liquids only I felt like I was sloshing. Maybe you more than met the liquid requirements. Can we get too many liquids if we're forcing them?

Glad to hear everyone is doing well on H20. I'm 3/4 the way through the water. Not too bad, but I'd rather have tea! I try to remember when I started eating and add l.5 hours to it before drinking. PA said water will wash down the food too quickly through the pouch. The appetite nerves are in the upper part of the stomach--so the longer the food stays in the pouch (upper stomach) --the less hunger you feel. I try to always drink a glass of water standing up as I'm setting table at home. Sometimes I'm chugging as everyone is being seated. That way it's not so difficult to wait to drink after eating. Speaking of hunger--don't get down on yourself for a splurge. I used to splurge every day many times a day. I'm better, but have a ways to go.

Carol: Maybe you should get on the "support" forum and ask Dr C. Isn't he on the support forum? I don't blame you for worrying. Take care.

:update: Poodles--great idea--just count your empties to get the water count. So far we have trying the H20 Challenge this week: Janelle - ChakoLady Cindy - CindyCam Poodles Heather - HKimber Sandra - Pinkylee Did I miss anyone? My water intake certainly increased yesterday. Hope this helps us lose and be healthy!

I guess I've had a delayed reaction on the fill. It was a tense day. If my Dad were a cat, he'd be on life #5. All morning at VA Hsp awaiting test results. Great news. We celebrate at Chili's for lunch. Got a quick "full" signal, but thought it was the excitement. Dinner with DH tonight, got a major golf ball that really wanted to PB. Been a bit tired most of the afternoon and went to bed after golf ball. Grateful I'm not hungry, but this fill stuff is not an easy adjustment. :faint: Warning to everyone--read Barbara's posts for this week. Barb, If you hadn't shared your story, I'm sure I wouldn't have recognized the potential problem. Thanks! EAT REALLY SLOW AFTER YOUR FIRST FILL FOR AT LEAST A WEEK. DELAYED RESTRICTION IS NOT UNCOMMON.

People, can we begin the water challenge tomorrow? Rules: Keep a personal log of the amount of water you drink each day. It must be written or logged into computer journal (your own personal preference) to count. (Calorie, points, carbs logs kept in the head end up on the hips!) Consume at least 64 ounces of fluids each day. 32 ounces of daily fluids must be pure water. Each day you complete rules 1 - 3, add the blue grin smiley face to your signature line. :biggrin1: By the end of the day next Wednesday, we'll hopefully have seven blue grins next to our signature. We'll erase last week's grins and begin again each Thursday morning. It will be interesting to see if this helps with weight loss. I'm not sure how to handle the "winners" for the week. Depends on if it's mostly Junebies. I was thinking of starting a new thread-- "We're Water Logged" for posting stats and weekly winners. I'll try and get input from one of our wonderful and helpful moderators. Your input on the rules, etc. are appreciated. Let's start tomorrow and use this week as a "tweaker". Thanks for joining in. As Rick Warren says: "We're Better Together" Sandra

Anyone interested in a water challenge this week? I think I get 64 ounces a day easily from crystal lite, etc., but my pure water intake is probably low. I'd like to commit to drinking and logging 64 ounces of liquids a day with 32 of them being pure H20. For every day we were successful we could give ourselves a :biggrin1: in our signature line.

C: 220.5  Down 3 for the week! I had lost only 7 pounds in the last 6 weeks. My scale loves to "tease" me. I go up and down all the time although my calorie intake and exercise stays pretty constant. This is a lesson in patience. Pinkylee

Poodles: Some people have more restriction in the morning than afternoon. Also, my fill PA said hamburger was high on the list for PB's. Bet if you stick with mushies or liquid protein in am you'll do better. Golf balls hurt!!! Can't imagine how frightening a real PB would be.
-
Barb So Sorry to hear about the fill troubles. I'm the exact opposite. No restriction after fill on Friday. I'm been hungry and feeling sorry for myself. Your story makes me think twice about restriction envy. Take care. Best wishes for tomorrow.

Finally had my first fill yesterday. No pain or difficulty so far. Only 1.5 cc in a 4 cc band. Hope it works! Feeling great and hungry:hungry:

Your body is saying something--take it easy!!! Don't forget to read the sad stories of those who "pushed through" the pain. That works in many situations, but not lapbanding. Pamper yourself the next four weeks. It's healing time. Give your body the chance it needs to heal and be ready for a great life ahead!!!

I love 20 grams of proteni lo-carb slim fast (not the Optima). The chocolate is really rich and creamy.

Barbara: I plan to buy some of the higher calorie "box" Soups (I think they are Campbell's select), but they are a cream Soup with more calories. I do not like "sloshing" around trying to get enough fluids in me to fill me up. I don't want to gain, but the thought of constant hunger for the next four days is makin' me crazy! Hang in there! You've made it this far. Sandra PS If you like egg drop soup, the recipe under food posts is pretty good

Barbara: Seem to remember you had port issues. HOw's that gong? Did they answer your questions? I forgot all my questions at my first post op. I'm writing them down for Friday. Honestly, I forget my name since surgery. Hope this gets better too. :think :think :think

Primary Care Doctor W. Houston

Dr. Spiegel's office will help you with that one. I needed cardio clearance and they had several recommendations. Good luck. If not Spiegel, try calling and asking the doc's nurse their protocol on approving lapbanding. Should get a feel of how helpful they will be. Good luck. -
Thanks for all the info. I'll try to stick to the rules from now on. Maybe my sipping while eating is contributing to my ever increasing appetite. First fill on Friday!!!
-
Barbara: Since we're both Spiegel, I'm anxious to hear how you did and what they say about the hard spot on your tummy. Good luck!! I'm sooo hungry. I'll really be disappointed if I remain this hungry after first fill (on Friday). I'm not unhappy with weight lost so far, but as hungry and unrestricted as I am--I could really chow down! One more thing--I'll be glad to get to a new "normal". I've got some things that need attention and I've caught a case of the lazys while healing from surgery.

Thanks for response I was afraid it might enlarge the pouch and cut weight loss. Is that possible?

By accident I overheated my corn tortilla. I broke off a piece and voilla! a baked tortilla chip. 1 Corn Tortilla (Mission lo fat) Microwave on high for 1.5 to 2 minutes. Watch that it doesn't overbrown. Allow to cool and break into "baked" tortilla chips Spray with no cal butter spray and season to taste before microwaving if you like. Made a great "cracker" for my mexican salad (lettuce, 1/4 C refried Beans, 1 T lite sour cream, pinch of shredded cheese and salsa). I think I found a new lunch:hungry: :hungry: Where have I been? I'll bet lots of people know this trick!!!

I love Walk Away the Pounds. If I'm busy, I make beds, fold clothes and try to keep up with the routine. Sure makes time go by quicker. I've been giving myself lots of excuses for not being faithful to Leslie--but if you guys can do it--so can I. Thanks for the kick in the pants!!!

Blood thinning injections before and after surgery??

Was this a new problem they uncovered during pre-op? Never heard of it, but I'm no med-tech
