Wow, Barb4. Keep us posted on your dimples! Socalgal, timing is everything - you're at goal - you've got a lot of history to lean on. All success in the total unfill I'm over the flu and still working on that prior contract on the condo. Patience? I'm back to appreciating my band and wishing for a fill or some other magic button to kick me into gear. Our Total Loser program at church had their first meeting. It was really fun. We had a team "challenge" and by default I was the designated player for the push up game. I managed to do 12 (a personal trainer was cheering me on or I might have laid on the mat motionless!) I am pumped and have done well today. I had a terrible day yesterday and was 198.5 this morning. ( I was 193 just a few days ago). Got to quit kidding myself. Onderland was a battle I don't intend to repeat. Needless to say I'm paniced and being really good today. Who's next to check in?
  4. Early morning nuitrition is a challenge. I got to thinking that chips always go down any time of day, why not dry Cereal. Granted, not all cereal is crunchy enough, but I feel almost "normal" drinking my skim milk first and then munching the cereal dry. Cereal is measured into a baggie that is easily portable. Skim milk - 9 grams Protein per cup Curves Honey Oat - 4 grams protein per cup

    Breakfast b4 10 a.m.

Borden, Schepp's, Horizon Organic even Carnation powered skim milk has 9 grams Protein per 8 oz serving. I've toyed with the idea of adding powdered skim milk to my Organic. I'm not big on protein powders - too clumpy.
  6. Slimfast makes a lo-carb hi Protein shake that is really great. (not to be confused with Slimfasts other socalled hi fiber/protein shake that is awful). 23 grams of protein. Look for it next to the Atkins shakes (good, but not quite as good and pricier).

Dallas/Fort Worth Junebies - Are you guys ok after the big fire? Please check in when you can. Still down (big time) with the bug. Guess that flu shot didn't work after all. Biggest Loser Fans - are you amazed at those who cut calories too far and lost nothing (or worse yet gain?). Why do I come up with so many excuses for neglecting to journal? The contestents who do well seem to be able to hold their emotions in check. Another toughy!

Lost a little with this bug which is still hangin' around, but manageable. I'll be ready to get back to exercise in a few days.

I've got a bad bug. According to a teacher friend it lasts 3 -4 days. Drat!!! Our anniversary was Thursday and we had a great evening - saw Jersey Boys and it was fantastic. So glad the crud held out until this a.m. I'm anxious to feel better and get back on track!

Poodles - Sorry you had the scare! Here's what my surgeon's plan was. 6 ounces of food at lunch and dinner(3 ounces of lean meat is that deck of card size weight watcher's preaches about) Eaten slowly. In my losing days, I weighed my food. $1 side salad and $1 chicken nuggets is about right. Don't drink liquids 30 minutes before and one hour after each meal. Food will stay with you longer. Liquid breakfast - lo carb pre-mixed hi protein drink, EAS or locarb slimfast - those you measure and mix yourself can cause blockage, especially early in the day. Absolutely no sugar (hah!). Avoid liquid calories (except breakfast). No chips, cookies or ice cream. Once a week have a treat. 64 (plus) ounces of water per day. One crushed multi-vitamin. I added biotin for hair loss and sublinqual liquid vitamin B. I ate a carmel viactiv calcium and multi (40 calories total) as my late night snack with hot tea. The best exercise to lose quickly is a brisk walk 60 minutes per day - break it up if you need to. He says "no snacks", but I lost better with 2 - 3 healthy snacks between the small meals. An easy snack is a hi-protein bar (Southbeach makes a good one), Eat it slow, they can get stuck easily. Try to make hunger your friend. Some people don't have hunger sensations once banded, but I sure had them! Said all that to say - No more than 6 ounces of food 3 times a day. 2 healthy snacks if needed. Chew each bite 20 times Don't drink with your meals or within one hour after a meal Walk Drink water No sugar Limit liquid calories Take vitamins I need to start over too Poodles. I quit exercising and gained 8 pounds. The result has been I look like I've gained 15. So many of my new clothes simply don't fit any more. I know my problem pales in comparison to your struggles, but if I can't conquer this battle, it's only a matter of time before I look exactly as I did on June 9, 2006.

Still struggling to get started on the TL program. Life happens and there's really no excuse. On the road again today. I'm up early enough to pack a lunch, snacks, water, and exercise. Have a good one.

Almost finished with real estate chapter in my life and another major challenge is looming large. Funny how life keeps us on our toes. TL weigh in wasn't so bad. Defintely firmly established in the 190's, but weighing in at night fully clothed wasn't a deal breaker to onderland. Whew! Losing 20 pounds is my minimum goal for the next 3 months!

Junebies are still easy to find! I start the "Total Loser" program at our church tomorrow and NONE TOO SOON! Of course, I had to load up on no no's today in case I miss tomorrow! The condo has a "pending" contract on it. I'm almost home free. For those of you who share an intuitive spirit, I had a vision of the front door of the condo - couldn't understand the large square of sparkly glass covering the ground in front of it (maybe 12' square). Perhaps all will go as smooth as glass! In the meantime, I've met a great gal who is showing the condo for me (lives in the bldg one over). She's an admitted Mrs. Cravitz. I'd love a vision for my new diet/exercise plan. I have to say my 2 new buddies that will be on my team are already an inspiration. 2 no nonsense gals. I've learned that I can eat more standing up. Not such a good revelation. My band works perfectly well seated at the table. I love "hearing" from you guys. Please keep posting.

You guys make me proud!!!! Congrats to everyone! Regina - you reminded me that our band lifeplan is really simple - water, vitamins, exercise, etc. Check, check, check - doing none of the above. Exercise was my mantra - mainly to fight depression. somehow I didn't pack the depression in our last move. I've been walking and golfing some, but unless I schedule it, exercise somehow isn't on the radar like it once was. Dental surgery and condo still have me driving more than I'd like. Freedom seems imminant and I'm excited at the prospect. I've regained the five pounds I lost and I deserve each pound! Time to get back to the basics! So wonderful to hear from each of you.
  17. Why are we cautioned not to drink Water with meals? I'd like a few small sips at least. Will this slow down weight loss?

Mary - Congratulations on breaking into the 150's!!! Hearing a doc say "your weight is fine" is a major milestone. I would base my decision on the last five pounds on how my clothes are fitting. Another five pounds might put you in between sizes - or it might make things fit "just right". Enjoy the delima. About that depression.....nothing wrong with meds, but I'd try St. John's Wart if you haven't already. I like GNC's Power Herbs. The kind you have to take on a schedule. The timed release didn't work for me. St. John's Wart brought me immediate relief when prescriptions didn't help. Everyone's so different. There's help out there. Are you exercising? You are inspiring.

Regina, your comments on no weight lost in 2007 really hit home. After my Thanksgiving "plump", I'm focusing on healthy choices. There isn't one cookie or piece of pie (ok maybe the macadameia nut cookie) that tasted good enough to justify this last gain. One small portion - why didn't I stop at that?

What a crazy month and things are still "nuts", but closer to normal. We finally have some kind of order in our new place. I love our new home. Casual is another word for "everything could use updating, so I guess I'll wait!!!" I'm surprised with myself that I'm not itching to "redo" everything, but I even love the uneven satillo tile on all our porches. DH calls it "rustic". I haven't been this happy in years!!!! I've gained 5 pounds since Tgiving. No big deal. I have my band and you guys to help me through. Barbara12, it's those darn easy foods and I've taken a real shine to buttered popcorn in the evenings. I used to eat one cup. Now the dogs and I share a bag. Gotta remember this is for the long haul!! One minor problem - lots of dental work being done and my surgeon is 80 miles from here. Implant next Wednesday and then another endless round of fittings for crown, etc., but after 8 months I can happily say I'm probably l/2 way through. Hah! Poodles, I am so glad you are hanging in there. None of us have it made, but your bravery in all you've faced has reminded me not to whine (too much) over some of my more insignificant issues. Barbara4, so glad you are scheduled for that EGD. I'd wait on that sleeve if I were you. It sounds like the surgery would mimic a band without the adjustment factor. Yikes!!!! Barbara12, thanks for your soapbox speech.

Socalgal - I haven't forgotten our challenge, but I have changed my timeline a bit. I've been at 189 - 190 and my goal is to stay below 190 until after our move!!! Being too tight never has helped me lose much of anything and I seem to go from loose to tight in the blink of an eye. I am soooo proud of your resolve to finish this job. You've inspired me to get to that 175 mark as a minimum and I will! I'd like to change my 10/31 goal to 187 (down 2 pounds). Is that ok with you? I need something to work on - otherwise I'll use stress as an excuse.

Avilla - welcome back. Guess I better remove my mini goal ticker. The reunion came and went and I was 190. It was so much fun seeing so many friends from high school (DH and I went to same school). It's so refreshing to get older. Wrinkles and a larger waistline are a non-issue! I have to admit it was a lot more fun than if I had been in my size 22's. OUr move will come soon. We close on new house 10/31 and our present one 11/5. I'm leaving a new 2500 sq ft home to move to a smaller patio home built in 1978. We're buying a lifestyle more than anything. Golf for DH and walking and biking for me. This home pulls at our heartstrings. WE plan on it being our last!

Lisa - it's never easy to deal with illness. I'm so happy you are still losing through all the stress! Poodles - Maybe this is your new band life - restricted enough not to "go crazy", open enough to be pain free. At least you can find some kind of "normal" now. Yeah! Socalgal - I've been bouncing again. I was at 190.0 this a.m. Gotta "bust it" to get the next 10 pounds off. Things are crazy here. Lots of company and "events" plus a move that will happen - ready or not! Guess I have a choice - handle stress with liquid/mushie calories, or buy some protein drinks and hang in there. Wish me luck with that sugar bowl!

Poodles - I'm relieved you've taken a stand against gastric bypass. Your negative feelings towards it are definitely a clear sign. Extremely gradual fills may be the best way for you to go. Regina - What an amazing story. You and your sister are both beautiful. Congrats!!! Socalgal3 - Have to tell you when I read your post on upcoming move it didn't "feel" good. At any rate - I'm stuck on weight loss again. At least I'm not going back up! By the way, you look hot!!!! I've got to allow a little more hunger in my life - I have no excuse. We will also be moving soon - it's been a hectic week with a few more on their way, but the future looks bright.
