Krysia, Travelgirl, & Mel7: I am soooo happy to hear we are all in the same way. It makes me feel like I'm not 'messing up'. Ok, so its decided we all need to drink, drink, drink. (I mean water!!!!!!!!) And the first one who loses the bloated feeling must pass it on.....ok. Looking forward to hearing the updates. P.S. It is getting better every day:cool:

Hey guys I'm with you. I was banded on the 5th. And I haven't eaten anything solid yet. I've had one 20oz bottle of isopure and about 6 oz of water. I know that I need more than that, I just cant get it in. I have that "just swallowed 20 balloons" feeling constantly!!! And in the evenings when I lie down I feel the fully feeling all the way to my throat. HOW MANY fluids do you guys take in? Also I know this may be rude..........and I hope it doesnt offend anyone.........but are you all going #2? I'm having a difficult time with that.:guess
-
sip it. I recently ate 14oz can of broth 3 days out of surgery and felt MISERABLE for 8 hours after. SIP SIP SIP good luck
-
Had band placed Monday. Today is Wednesday. How much should I be taking in? Just getting a little confused. Any responses would be helpful

Ok all of the Feb. bandsters please answer. HOw much total water, juice, protien, jello, etc. does everyone take in per hour? I am so afraid that I have stretched my band out something terrible. I feel like crying!!! Today was day 3 from surgery, I was drinking 4 medicine cups of isopure with no problem. with no restriction. Thought I would try soup (chicken broth). Was conversing with husband and before I knew it I had eaten WHOLe can of broth. In about 40 minutues. Didn't feel full. About an hour after that I have felt miserable, bloated, tummy ache. etc. This feeling has lasted with me for approximately 7 hours. Yes 7 hours!!! Still feels the same. Haven't drank anything since. I've been walking, and eating gas x. Please give me feed back. I will just die if I have ruined the band on my 3rd day. I;m sick just thinking the damage that I could have done.:help:

Travelgirl: I am with you. I also had my surgery on the 5th and I'm in "ouch land" too.!!! I know it will be worth it. Husband is being very supportive, though I think at times I have been quite mean to him. (waiting on pain meds) I don't know if I have gas or bruising all over. No shoulder pain to speak of though. Let me know how you are doing. Going for another walk. C U later

Thanks for responses, guess I'll just have to 'chin up' for a few days. all the best.

I was banded yesterday. I believe that I have extreme gas pains left side only. (no burping or otherwise!) Lying down and sitting makes it worse. ONly thing that makes it better is standing. (which really stinks, cause I want to be laying!) Anybody has any similar experience or suggestions to alleviate pain?

2morrow is the BIG day
Ready to Lose replied to Marissa424's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ok guys, you'll be fine!!! Just keep thinking happy thoughts (perhaps a skinnier you!!!) Just had band yesterday. Yes, there is discomfort. But it wil be worth it. Believe me, if I can do it, You can do it!!!!!!!! My thoughts and prayers are with you. One bit of advice - Have pain med's filled before you leave hospital, its much better than waiting around for them when you get home. Looking forward to hearing from you after your out. We can compare notes!!!! -
Just had band yesterday. I believe that to make the patient feel better is by letting them know that you understand the pain involved and that you can handle the medicine and amount of fluids that the patient will be taking in. It is a relaxing feeling knowing that someone else is doing the thinking for the first couple of days. All the best!!!

fauxnaif: I see that you had your band quite awhile ago. Your still cold? Wow.!! (I really don't think I will mind, as I am usually the 'oven type'. And by the way, CONGRATULATIONS..... you are truely making great progress on your losses. I see you are very close to goal!! Good for you. Your are an inspiration.!!

I am sooo glad for those of you who responded. I really felt like I was losing my mind. I am typically the gal who sweats just thinking of the heat!!! I will absolutely take the cold, if it means weight loss.:straight

My date is Feb. 5 The doctors office is starting to freak me out. I have been so calm before today. No one (PCP or Bariatric office) can or wants to prescribe me liquid meds. My med's can't be crushed - due to being time released. They both keep shifthing the responsibility to each other. Surgeon's office says PCP should switch meds to crushable or liquid. PCP office says surgeon should discharge me with something that I will be able to tolerate. Whats up with that??? I;m still waiting for more feed back Am I the only band patient out there on Procardia XL? My suggestion to all pre-bandsters......check this out before banding. And wish me luck. I will let all know what out come is.:phanvan

Has anyone had this problem? Just contact CVS Pharmacy to see if they could change me medicine (high blood pressure) to liquid form, they said they couldn't. So many people say that they can't swallow pills after surgery and they have changed to liquid. What has everyone done?
-
Pugchick & Enterprise01: Thank you for your response. Pugchick: Yes, I am worried prematurally. I hope I too have no problems swallowing them. I'm just getting freaked out reading alot of 'stuck in throat' stories!!! thanks for being there though. Enterprise01 I will look into the 'mom & pop' drug stores, they really seemed like they were quite accomodating to you and your family. One of my med's is a control release as well. My surgery date is Feb. 5th. I'm getting really excited. thank you.

It makes it easier drinking my breakfast knowing that there are so many of us doing the same.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Day 2 of my liquid (Whey protein and carnation instant breakfast) Feb. 5th is getting closer!!! Also I found a great protein drink "special K - k2o" flavored protien drink (i recommend it)

I'M A FEBRUARY BANDSTER TOOOO!!!!!! I WAS EXPECTING A DATE LATE IN FEBRUARY. MY DATE IS FEB. 5TH. JUST GOT CALL THIS MORNING. STARTED MY LIQUIDS IMMEDIATELY. (no last meals for me!!) Barbara: I have Cigna Open Network and I was recently approved. Hoping for surgery in February. For my plan I needed 6 months of nutional evaluation by primary care doctor (weigh in's and him telling me to diet). Call your insurance company and see if they cover it, then get in touch with bariatic center. Good luck

60 grams of protein. Thanks for the info.
-
How much protein are we required to get in each day?
-
Has anyones doctor given them a booklet or package of do's and do not's as far as what to eat or not? Suggestions on protein drinks etc? It seems to me that we are really relying on each other(which is a good thing) I'm still waiting on my surgical date, I'm in the 'gathering' stage, sometimes I don't think I know how to properly nagivate through this site. (but I'm working on it!!!
