I am feeling the same way. I was banded on 2/5. I just had my 2nd fill last night. I now know what it feels like to be banded. I never had to follow that "sip sip sip" rule. I could always gulp. I am sipping for the first time ever!!! (Actually, I hope I'm not too tight, as when I take to large of a sip, I feel as if I have to burp!!) Well, I have to do 2 days liquid, 2 days mushie, then advance to solids. Lets see how it works. But it is CRAZY feeling restriction for the first time!!! Lets see if I realize any additonal weight loss!!!!!!! Good luck to all:)

Travel Girl: Glad to have a twin out there!!!!!! Everything here is going great, I'm very satisfied. Can eat about anything I want (but I don't:scared: ) Still get stuck on meats though. about how much do u eat? I drink protein shake in morning continue to drink liquids throughout day Lunch - either protein shake or about 1- 2oz of meat Dinner - sensible (less then one hamburger or 3 - 4 oz of protein snacks ( sunchips, or jello, or no sugar added rice pudding) I wonder if everyone else does the same............or even if it is realistic to think that this could be done lifetime. (I'm still content, just wondering how everyone else feels. Have to get kids ready for baseball!!!! See you all later

When does the pain on port site subside?
Ready to Lose replied to Autumn444's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Autumm: I had my band 2/5/07. I have not had constant pain, but definately as you described at night. I would conciously have to hold my port and turn if I need to rollover. Otherwise I would have really bad pain (as if port was being ripped out of my stomach). Anytime I sneezed or coughed bad pain. Strange enough, I had my first fill this past Tuesday and it feels so much better!!!!!!!!!! I dont know if its just timing or something else! I did ask my dr. and he told me that I must just have alot of muscle involvement. Hope your feeling better. Good luck. -
what type of restrictions are there after first fill? Do we have to be on special diet or do we start back where we left off? Had my first fill yesterday. .5cc's. It seems quite small compared to most of you, and I don't seem to be noticing any difference as of yet.

Eva: Thanks for the encouraging words........and yes, I'm finding it difficult to figure what is the right thing to do.!! I really think that we are in the same boat regarding food being 'stuck'. The oddest things make me stuck and then PB - Boston market chicken, sometimes ground meat, spaghetti o's, (each of these EVERYTIME that I have tried them) I know, I know, some of you say,.........one time should be enough:) , but truely sometimes I WANT it!!!! Where as the other day I had chips, cheese and salsa with no problem. (granted it was only 4, but it still counts!!) I have found a 'no sugar added' rice pudding that seems to go down very nice. It is Kozy Shack by Request 90 calories, 3 fats, 3 fiber, 4 sugar, and 4 protein. (not bad right!) Eva: If you don't mind me asking, what do you usually eat daily? Thanks Geralyn

Pam: thank you for your advise: I'm going to make every effort to drink more water, and I even took the dogs out for a long walk yesterday. I am an at home mom, so without carved out time for myself to excersize I do nothing other than shuttle bus my kids back and forth. I really need to devote more time for me!!! I signed up for fitday.com I think that program it AWESOME. It will really help me with tracking. Thanks for your input. And good luck with your progress:clap2:

Hey Everybody: Haven't posted recently -- but always keeping updated. Just wanted to know if any on my fellow Feb. bandsters are experiencing the same as me. I was banded on Feb 5th - had great success immediately (pre-op diet and banding I lost approximately 30lbs:biggrin1: by March 5th) I haven't lost one ounce since!!!! Went to Doc yesterday, he suggested a fill. My issues are: I'm not hungry. Dont eat more than 1000- 1100 calories a day Hardly find my way around getting in 8oz of water. I'm nervous about getting a fill because I don't feel that I'm eating enough now! I asked if I could think about it for a week and get back to him. And of course he said yes. (Dont get me wrong, I want to lose more weight, I just don't want more restriction until I need it!!) Is there anybody else like this? can I have some of your opinions?
-
Travelgirl: Yes, I would say we are walking down the same path!!!! I will take your advise on www.fitday.com and give it a try. I;m somewhat concerned about getting fill though, I really can't imagine eating less.!! Honestly I don't drink my water, I have to get on that. I ate alot (not really) for dinner tonight, lets see what my body does with that. Good luck with your journey!!! I'll keep you posted on mine.

I know that we are not supposed to take asprin/motrin. Only Tylenol (or at least thats what my Dr. says.) Are there any restrictions on what can be taken for head cold? What have other bandsters taken?:cry

I'm doing well. I was banded on Feb. 5th. Including 2 week pre-op diet I have lost 30lbs!!!!!!!! (Very excited).!!! Haven't lost anything in about 2 weeks though, I know I'm not eating enough. Can those of you banded around my time frame please give me some examples of what your now eating and how much. I have just eaten lunch, (about 2 tablespoons of egg salad) - today is the first for that. Any advise would be appreciated.

Does your body go into shock after banding?
Ready to Lose replied to bunnykin4u's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the absolute same thing is happening to me. I haven't lost in about 2 weeks now. I'm not eating more than 900 calories. I am concerned about getting a fill, because I feel that I'm not eating enough now to even cut back on! -

Hi all!!!!!!!!! I figured I would give a little back, as I often use this site. Although I am still new myself I would like to share. I was banded on Feb. 5th. Yes, I hurt, had gas pains, port site pain, shoulder pain, tenderness, fatigue, hunger, sleep-less nights, food envy:hungry: , diarhea, constipation, food getting stuck (do to stupidity), productive burps! and constant wondering if I was/still am taking in enough food!! (Thats all I can think of right now):faint: Guess what? I;m OK there were times when I thought, "what did I do?" Now I say "I'm glad I did!" Yup, I'll be only 1 month out soon (March 5th) but I can honestly say to all that I feel good!!! It took a while. But all of that passes. This is a learning experience. We are fortunate to have had others go before us that are willing to share. If anyone has any questions I will try to answer. Just remember, sometimes it is scary..... but it will just take sometime. P.S. You will see me on the board asking questions too!!! P.S.S. I lost 10lbs doing pre-surical diet:D PSSS so far have lost 19lbs post-band:clap2:

Encouragement for all nervous newbies
Ready to Lose replied to Ready to Lose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Love to ATV: I do think that most doctors go more towards RNY. Just remember it is your CHOICE. This is not hard. Though there is work involved. I am happy that I chose the lap band. It was the proper choice for me. I started at 250. Any loss is a good loss. Just remember, this is about you and your choice. Dont worry........it will come. -
Hey Freetobe: I was banded Feb 5th. Doc says I still should be on mushies - next week I move to soft foods (chicken salad, tuna, mashed potatoes) I don't know about the food part,,,, but I can down 8oz beverage in about 5 to 10 minutes without thinking. (no restriction or dicomfort involved)
-
I hear alot of talk about gas. Does anyone take prevacid? My doc has had me on it 2x a day since lap band. P.S. Last night was my first experience with food getting "stuck"!!! It wasn't nice. I'm on 'mushie" stage, thought I was smarter then the band and could just chew it into 'mushie' state. WRONG!!!! I was at least half an hour with a piece of 'illegal' steak (the size of a quarter) loged in my throat.:cry It was AWFUL!!!!!!! The moral of this story is........................... don't eat until the doc tells you too!!! I certainly learned my lesson.:hungry:

Hi all, I am almost 2 weeks out of surgery and I find that I am able to drink protien shakes and Soups etc, the same way I was before I was banded. I'm not as cautious on the sip sip sip. cause I can gulp, gulp gulp. With no adverse reaction. Is everyone else like this until their fill or am I unique?
-
babygirl & travelgirl: Thats crazy, we were all banded around the same time, all experiencing banding hunger. and seems like we've all lost the same amount of weight. Which I'm sorry to say, my scale hasn't moved any in the past few days!!! I go to the doc on Monday, lets see what he says about fills. I will keep you guys updated. For now what are you guys eating? I;m still on liquids. Isopure and chicken broth (and I'm getting extremely tempted)(with everything:hungry:

TX KIMMIE: Hey kid, we were banded on the same day FEB 5TH!!!!!!!! Your ok. I'm going through the same thing. Very hard to get drinks down. I am working all day to get 20oz Isopure, one Jello, and about 30oz of soup in. Your not alone. It will get better -
Anyone Else Have Bad Breath?
Ready to Lose replied to Marissa424's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yup, I'm 6 days out, must brush my teeth like 5x a day. Still feels yucky. and yes, also have 'stink-breath' I think it is from all of the protein. I'm sending husband out today for breathstrips. Good luck -
Drinking through a straw
Ready to Lose replied to skinnyrebal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know that all doctors are different, my doctor has overstated that we should not use straws, and even if they give one in the hospital to throw it away. The premise behind this is that you are also sucking up air, therefore causing gas. I don't know how true it is, but I don't use them good luck on the rest of your journey:) -
Hey I was banded on the 5th. Lots of feelings that I need to go........ No progress yet. I cant imagine much will come when its time though. (just still on fluids) But can I tell you .......... the incision pain will make me want to 'HOLD ON TO MY POOPY' a while longer. All the best:biggrin1:
