Hey there--- I was on another chat line and someone said they were going to a fill doctor in Milwaukie--which is really close to Portland. She is Dr. Kelly Fitzpatrick and she does fills--although she does not do them with the flouroscopy. Her web page is here--in case any one is interested. Also, if you've gone to her let us know how she is--I have not gone but am interested after I get banded! http://gastricbands.com/index.html

Hey there. OK--I know I am going to sound a bit morbid--but did anyone leave or tell someone what you wanted done(as in funeral services) JUST IN CASE something happens when you have the surgery? My DH is going with me to TJ, but I am also leaving a "note" and sort of video for my kids incase I happen to die from lap-band. I know it's the safest thing out there, but there is still a risk. I started having an anxiety attack the other night, but just put it out of my mind---I told my eldest son what was going to happen and he started crying. (told him just about the band not the death thing) You know--do you take things like that as a sign--or just as a scared kid's worries? The thought of leaving my kids is horrifying--but the thought of not being able to do things with my kids is almost as horrifying. OKAY--I know I sound crazy-I just re-read my post and even I think I'm going a bit too far.ANYWAYS---any August banders have thoughts on the subject--or you can just tell me I'm psycho!!

YAHOOOOOOOO!!!!! It is finally our month to shine!:sun: I still have 24 days---but I'm so glad it is days and not months anymore!!! Here's to all of us--may our "last" dinner be deep fried and greasy, and our surgeries be succesful!!:hungry: GOOD LUCK AUGUST BAND CREW!!!!

Okay-- for the first time EVER--I was kicked off an amusement ride because I was too fat to have the mechanism lock on me! I went to our local amusement park and decided I would like to ride a new ride they had there. Of course my super skinny marathon runner sister was there, and my skinny sister-in-law was there, and I thought it would be fun to ride a super "scary" ride. I got in the ride (with the help of an assist from my sister-in-law) and then they came and told me that they couldn't lock my seat! I was SOOOOO embaresed(sp) and humiliated that I had to get off the ride! Has this ever happened to anyone? I have children that are 11, 5 and 4 years old, and the prospect of not being able to ride the rides with them is killing me!!! I cried all the way home and had a mini melt-down at home because I couldn't ride that stupid ride. Knowing that I will be getting the lap band in August was a little bit of a help, but it is not helping now!!! Sorry--but I kept thinking all the way home is that the band support system would help me feel better and that one day--maybe even next summer--I would hopefully be able to ride that ride without difficulty!!! Again, has anyone else had this problem, and how did you deal with it? Thanks for any support!!!!

Best and worst reactions to telling people you were banded?
trizzy replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have had mostly good or supportive reactions, but my mother was a whole different story! She told me that if I died having this surgery she would tell my children I died because I was selfish. I think she was half-kidding, half-serious. Crazy, because she is way overwieght as well. DH, sister, best friends seem to be okay with my decision! -
I'm proof that there's life below Eugene!
trizzy replied to Faytona's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey there my fellow Oregonians! I live around the Portland area so I can't claim any knowledge about life down south--but I'm so glad to hear from you all. I am getting banded in August, and have been feeling SO nervous and SO excited; both at the same time! Good luck to us all! -
that is so AWESOME! I can't wait for the day my kids can give me a 'true' hug--all the way around the middle! Tell your husband he ROCKS!!

Thank you everybody!!! You are all just the best--and I knew after I would read your comments I would feel better! Princess and Carol--you are absolutely right. I knew I was fat, overweight and obese--but OBVIOUSLY in serious denial about just HOW big I have gotten!!! This was my BIG eye opener--and hopefully the last one I'll ever need! Diva girl--you've got a date! I can't wait to go on the rides with my kids and be able to sit comfortably (or even fit) in a booth. All those little things skinnies never think about but that we are faced with daily!:cry Time2live-- I totally get the sacrifice our children make because of the way we have let ourselves go. I know I'm a good mom--but I want to be able to be in family pictures, ride on the flippin' rides, and sit with them in the movies, on a plane, or in a car COMFORTABLY! Here's hoping the band thing will work and we can both become even better moms than we already are!:whoo: Thanks all for your encouragement!! I knew that you all would understand and help me through my "worst moment EVER!" I am SOOOO ready to get my band and can't wait to slip into that ride and have it lock--and I'm going to have my DH there to take a pic and everything!:biggrin1:

Anne Wilson is also on the back of Dr. Ortiz's book about the lap band. She looks smoking hot, but that sounds like that was awhile ago if she gained weight back. Also--about her not being able to eat anything she wanted--doesn't the band just restrict the amount of food, not neccesarily the type?

Thanks so much for the support! I must also confess that I came home and had quite a few rum and diet cokes to make me feel better!! It is till just such a crazy thing--somehting I never thought would happen to me--and I still haven't told my husband because I'm still SO embarassed!! One day this too shall pass---right?????

Why did you decide to switch from Ortiz? I have an August appt. with him and would like to know if you heard anything bad or if you just wanted to switch. I am pretty nervous about the whole ordeal and would love some insight from y'all. Thanks!!!

Okay--I'm pretty new to this whole thing--but where do you guys get those cute little measuring things? The ones that say how far you've gone and how far to go? I would like one to keep me on goal once I have the surgery. Also, am pretty new to computers--so are the directions to have them on your reply pretty easy? Any helpful hint are appreciated! Thanks!

Hello there! I've been waiting for an August bander thread! I have my surgery scheduled for August 25th in Tijuana with Dr. Ortiz. I am excited about having the surgery, but I am NOT looking forward to the week of liquids before and the three weeks after! I am definetly a steak and potatoes kind of girl! Here's to us!

I have just scheduled surgery with Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana. Does anybody have experience with him? Is his facility clean and sterile? I'm pretty nervous about going to Mexico, but I can't afford the surgery in here in Oregon (moneywise), and I can't afford NOT to have the surgery (healthwise). If you have any info on Dr. Ortiz or the Obesity Control Center, I would appreciate hearing from you! Thanks!
