Did Anyone Have Their Surgries In Foreign Countries?
ClaudiaJ replied to pandaluck's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I think it really depends on the surgeon. Why not ask for a second opinion? -
Any other way to tighten arm skin besides surgery?
ClaudiaJ replied to als74's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Working out may help tone down your arms BUT it could be a long process and no guarantee how much it can lessen the fat or the skin in your arms. Plastic surgery is the fastest and maybe the most effective solution to your problem. So the decision is yours. -
He is just so insensitive. To think that you don't even know each other and that you were not even talking to him. He was just listening or prying at your conversation. He doesn't even know what he's talking about. 60 pounds is already a great achievement. By the way, congrats on that Tracie.

Having doubts. Does this really work?
ClaudiaJ replied to ThePoolGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi :cursing: The success of lap band depends on how you well you are keeping up with your restrictions. I guess you just have to follow it when its there. Don't let you body or your urge control you. You should be the one controlling them. It may be difficult but you really have to put some effort to be able to succeed in your weight loss journey. A lot of patients have succeed. Some would even go for a lap band surgery in Mexico, Argentina, and other parts of the globe just to get it at a low cost because they couldn't afford it in the US. You've already started your journey so keep moving. Good luck! -
Why Travel Abroad For Plastic/Cosmetic Surgery?
ClaudiaJ posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Medical Tourism is getting popular. Though there is still no guarantee of an excellent result of plastic surgery abroad, , more and more people are still traveling abroad for plastic or cosmetic surgeries, especially in this time of recession. Below are the factors that makes medical tourism favorable for most patients. 1. Cost. This can be the primary reason why people travel abroad. Plastic surgery in Mexico, Argentina, Costa Rica, and other popular medical tourism countries are very cheap compared to the US, Canada, or UK. You can save up to 70% if you travel abroad for a plastic surgery (See sample Prices in Argentina). 2. Vacation. Aside from the surgery, you will be able to tour around the place. 3. No Medical Insurance. Most insurance companies do not cover plastic surgeries - but the case may be different with weight loss surgery. So this will be too costly and going abroad may be a better choice. 4. Excellent and board certified plastic surgeons. Most plastic surgeons abroad are board certified and has undergone training in the US or other well-known institutions. These plastic surgeons are very competitive to that in the US, Canada, or UK. 5. Modern clinic, hospitals, and medical facilities. With the state-of-the-art medical centers abroad, the quality of medical care is getting excellent. Plastic surgery itself is risky and going abroad will not reduce the risk. -
Scared to death about excess skin!
ClaudiaJ replied to Stawberry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Questions to ask on your plastic surgeon: aside from what jms462001 have said, you can also ask him of his qualifications and/or certifications, his records (successful and repeat operations), and some restrictions for the surgery. I say you're lucky. Some find it hard to let their insurance company cover such surgeries. But there's a big probability that you won't have much excess skin given your age. -
Do all bandsters need plastic surgery after successfully losing weight??
ClaudiaJ replied to thisendisabeginning's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Better reach your weight goal first before considering any surgery. The breast is also one of the major problems in weight loss so I guess that's something to consider as well aside from loose skin. If there's not much of loose skin, then maybe consider breast augmentation. But as I've said, there are medical packages that may include breast augmentation and liposuction or tummy tuck. That will give you a lot of savings. -
Do all bandsters need plastic surgery after successfully losing weight??
ClaudiaJ replied to thisendisabeginning's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yeah not everyone needs it. But for those who have lose a lot of weight, removing those apron or wings may be necessary. I think it can be uncomfortable. But if you're planning to do several surgeries, there are packages available for such where in you can save a lot by doing it one at a time. -
Excess skin or loose skin is a common problem for weight loss. Most people would go for tummy tuck or other procedures to get rid of it. It is not just for wanting to look good but if it becomes a bothersome already I think its time to go for a plastic surgery. For those who cannot afford the surgery, they have the option to go abroad. Medical Tourism has become a trend today. There are affordable plastic surgeries abroad that are excellent in quality - some say they're better than in the US. But I think a good research work needs to be done here to make sure that you're going to a good plastic surgeon.

Sweet is right. Your weight loss success does not lie on the band but in your self. It is not there to strip off your weight while you can't control what you eat. It is just there to help you lose weight. Just like what others said, weight loss is a change of lifestyle. Lap band surgery is really effective if you just control what you eat. Mind over matter. Be motivated and focus yourself into other things when your cravings for a certain food strikes.

I agree anything can happen and there are really risks with surgeries. It actually depends on each person's situation. Most people who lost a lot of weight would go for a tummy tuck or/and BA. I think that's the ideal one instead of having the BA or lift first. To avoid greater risk, people should go to a trusted surgeon - board certified, well-experienced, and referred by someone who had good results. Also, it is important for a patient to feel comfortable with his/her surgeon. Their minds should meet on what the expected result should be.

Overweight and desperate
ClaudiaJ replied to soontobelovely's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you better ask a surgeon for any recommendation or any solution to your problem. You prefer to get it done in Mexico? Aside from the site mentioned above, you can also try this one: My plastic surgery in Mexico, tummy tuck in Mexico, liposuction in Mexico, affordable plastic surgery, cheap plastic surgery cost. I hope you'll be able to find an answer to your problem. Good luck. -
Company asked to Reschedule Surgery so it's more convenient for them
ClaudiaJ replied to Danimal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was indeed unethical. I also suggest your wife tell your boss that she cannot reschedule the surgery as it was set already. Did they even tell her the reason why they want her to reschedule it? If they are just doing it in favor of the one who will replace your wife, I think that will really be unfair. -
My mother's mouth is what needs to be banded.
ClaudiaJ replied to Shrinkerbell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just like everyone here, your thread title brought me here. It was really funny. Anyway, Moms are really like that. But if you want your band to be kept as a secret, do tell her that you seriously don't want anyone to know your being banded, too. Surely she'll understand and respect your decision. Also, don't mind other people's opinion. Its for your own health anyway. -
Pre-op Question about smoking
ClaudiaJ replied to HollyRnOh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just hang in there. You've done it this far already so take it as a motivation not to fall for temptation. You won't regret it once you've reached your goal. If you do relapse, you'll only waste the 6 months that you have worked hard not to smoke and of course your surgeon might just reschedule your surgery and it will only make your days longer. Good luck! Stay strong.:sneaky: - Claudia -
I'm Not Telling Anyone I'm Being Banded.....
ClaudiaJ replied to laurenlee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi knewme, By not telling anyone, you are not lying at all. Its just that you don't have to tell them, its a personal matter of yours. I think it would actually be better not to tell everybody except the people whom you can really trust and get support from. I am not having the band yet and no one knew that I'm planning to have one and already researching about it. I have consulted a surgeon at Go Sculptura already and everything is all set, except for me. :scared2: -
Jeni is altering her body and shedding the extra material!!
ClaudiaJ replied to Jeni 85's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hi Jenny, Congratulations! You are actually very inspiring. I am not having a surgery yet but I am encouraged by your success. I have consulted a plastic surgeon before and he was really nice and professional - explained to me everything from pre-op to post-op, consequences, side effects, etc. But something came up so I had to cancel it. For now, I am just watching my diet. -
Really only for "health reasons?"
ClaudiaJ replied to marathonmommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Health reasons to most while for some could be for better figure? Anyways, I think its better now that people are getting more aware of their health and body. I don't feel the need for a surgery yet and I'm just watching my diet. I find it really hard to breath at times when I gain some pounds so I am trying my best not to get myself obese. These lap band surgeries are actually very helpful especially today that there are so many factors that makes us obese (technology for one).
