Yeah. It's 866-716-5263. They also go by the name of Suburban Surgical Care. Let me know if you need anything else! -
I can't believe tomorrow is the big day....funny thing is I'm not nervous and I don't know why! I'm sure that will change in the morning. I can't believe it has come up this fast! Hopefully all goes well. Surgery is at noon, have to leave at about 8 am! I am staying overnight, and hopefully they will let hubby stay with me. They are supposed to have all private rooms so hopefully he can! Getting ready to take my "night before surgery Hibiclens shower." Fun fun. LOL I see there are many others on this site scheduled tomorrow. Good luck to all! I'm sure we will all sail through smoothly!

Has this happened to anyone else?
dolphinz replied to southernbelle13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was approved thru UHC. I had a BMI over 40 though so I didn't need any comorbidities. However, they did say if my BMI was between 35-40 than I had to have TWO comorbidities (i.e. sleep apnea, congestive heart failure, COPD, etc.) I did, however, specifically ask about GERD (as I have that too) and they said that did not count. I'm not telling you this to get discouraged, just so you can be prepared. Each employer's plan is different even with the same insurance company so maybe you will only have to have the 1, and with the sleep apnea that's definitely 1. Just thought I'd let you know the info I have! -
Hello everyone! My name is Tammy. I'm from a small town in Northern Illinois. Byron. For the sake of no one knowing where that is, let's just say Chicago! (about 2 hours away) So...I've been fat my whole life. Even when I was little. I believe it started around age 2 or 3. I'm 5'6" and weigh 300 pounds. This is my heaviest ever. I was about 230 when I got married 5 and a half years ago. I have a 4 year old son named Nelson who is VERY active, rough, tough, and difficult to keep up with. ESPECIALLY being this overweight. I feel so bad not feeling like taking him outside or to the park because I'm lazy and fat! I am lucky enough to have an insurance company who pays for the surgery without too much requirements. I am having the surgery done at St. Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates, IL (suburb of Chicago). My surgeon is Dr. Rantis from the Kane Center/Suburban Surgical Care. I did receive a phone call on Friday, however, saying that my EKG was "abnormal" but they are not sure what is abnormal and I had to see my regular doctor. However, before the nurse did my EKG she said "Hopefully it works, it's been giving me problems." I have had EKGs in the past and never had an abnormality, so I am sure this was just a fluke! Surgery is scheduled for August 3rd @ 1:45 pm. I am on my first days of an ALL Protein shake diet, and I cannot WAIT for these 15 days to be up! Not the best tasting stuff, but I've had worse!

I'm being banded August 2nd and I am hoping....well more like praying and pleading....that some come off! These 44Hs (Thank God for Lane Bryant!) are a bit much to be carrying around all the time! Unfortunately I don't think it will be happening...there's not a woman on my dad's side of the family that don't have 'em! Even my grandma can probably match me for cup! LOL

One more thing....there is also the Mercy Bariatric Center in Harvard IL. I made an initial appointment there but could not find much research on them so I went with the Kane Center because I felt more comfortable since I found so many good stories from people who went there. -

I am also going thru the Kane Center. It's about 45 mins from Rockford so not too far. I love south of Rockford in Byron so it takes me about an extra half hour. It's worth it though. The staff at the Kane Center are EXCELLENT! They are so nice and helpful. Nothing has seemed to have taken very long. Scheduled for surgery August 3rd. I am seeing Dr. Rantis. -
OK, Who has an AUGUST surgery date??!!
dolphinz replied to Jodi73's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
August 3rd! I am having my surgery at St. Alexius in Hoffman Estates, IL. My surgeon is Dr. Rantis through the Kane Center / Suburban Surgical Care! I'm so excited and scared all at once! Have to start the preop protein shake diet on July 19th. I have everything done except for Upper GI, chest x-ray, and blood work which are being done Thursday, July 16th. -
Has anybody had this insurance and have to be on a diet for a certain amount of time before they would approve the surgery? I see a lot of people with this insurance have been saying it's been pretty easy, and they didn't say anything about that when I called for the policy information on the Lap-Band procedure. Just curious to see what hoops anybody else with this insurance had to make it thru! Thanks!

dolphinz replied to dolphinz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow....I didn't think of a cap! I'll have to either look online at myuhc.com or call them and find that out. I never would have thought of that, so thanks! -
Suburban Surgical Care Anyone?? I HAVE QUESTIONS! :-)
dolphinz posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going to a seminar this Saturday for Suburban Surgical Care in Hoffman Estates. For anyone who has gone there I was wondering how your experience was with them, surgery, staff, etc. Also, how long did it take to get it improved with your insurance? I would like to have this done ASAP. I know that's how soon everyone wants it done, but I do have some reasoning behind it. My husband and I were trying to get pregnant with a second child and I was planning on having the Lap-Band after that. Well....we just got news that toward the end of this year he will be going to Iraq for a year. SO.....there is NO WAY I am going to get pregnant right now and risk him not being here for the birth. So the reason I would like to get it ASAP is so that I can lose as much as possible before my next pregnancy. Also, if anybody who went there had United Healthcare, that's what I have so any tips on a faster approval are greatly appreciated. Thanks all!
