Barbara and Melissa Lea, I had a 7am time to be at the surgery center for Dr. Spivak. I was the 4th case. The first 3 cases they have come at 6:30am. I know that is early, but while others were having their surgery done, I was just nervous. The earlier the better as far as I am concerned. The staff at the surgery center is wonderful, very nice. Once you arrive, before you go back you will meet these wonderful women (not sure of their titles) but they had lap band done less than a year ago and have lost alot of weight. They really made me feel better. Everyday i am feeling better. I do have gas pains, but not to bad. They go away with movement and gas-x. It is uncomfortable when i sit/lie down and get up, but not bad. The incisions are not as bad as I was expecting. i read where one of the incisions was going to be about 2 1/2 to 3" and none of mine appear to be that big. I guess once the steri strips fall off I will be able to have a better look at the incisions. Hopefully everyone that has had the surgery will keep posting updates. As I know I look for those that had their surgery on 6/2 to tell about what is to come.

sissi, I know what you mean. I am a fast eater. but now I am too scared to eat very fast. I was just in the pantry looking at the cream soups, never thougt they would look so good. Yes I have been doing the incentive spirometer (breathing thing) also, they put my goal as 3000,is anyone getting that high???? I am making it to 1000 without a problem and can get to 1500 also, but 3000???? WHERE is everyone else with this? Reeneea

Melissa Lea, Thank you for posting this list. It is much better than the one my doctor gave me. although I will probey start with the thicker liquids rather than the meats and stuff like that. Just too nervous. Reeneea

I think by soft foods they mean blended. cream Soups, Protein drinks and such, nothing real solid, but more than the Clear Liquids I am having now. I do have the gas in my shoulder, the dr's office said to move my arms up and down and that does seem to help. I keep feeling like I have to burp, but as of yet have been unable to. I wish it would just happen. I was hoping the gas would only last 72 hours, but it sounds like Sissi is still experiencing it. Is it better at least? I understand the before hand fear. I felt it, I was very teary the morning of the surgery and when I first came out and was so uncomfortable I thought OMGosh what have I done. but by yesterday afternoon I was much better. And yes I wish I could eat pizza with my family, but i have so much more to look forwad to, so I will stick with the dr's instructions to the tee. Good luck everyone that is scheduled for today and this week. Keep us up to date on how you are doing.

I would take that to mean you should have good restriction before a fill. I am envious. How are the liquids going down. I don't seem to have any problem. I am on liquids until tomorrow and then I start soft food, I can't wait, as I am already hungry. My doctors office just called me and said they put in the low profile port, which is the smaller port ad 4cc band. I think I am happy about this, although I don't know eough yet. I am off to move around to get this gas out of my shoulder.

Hi all, Well made it through surgery. I felt very antsy when I came around after surgery, but also very sleepy. Odd! I went into surgery about 9:20am and was home at about 12:30. Once home I started to feel much better. have had pressure in my shoulder, chest and side. but it always subsides with walking. I have tried to get up and walk for about 10 minutes every hour. I have not taken any pain meds yet but will tonight. I am trying to stay away from it, so that I will walkand not just sleep the day away. glad everyone else is doing well and look forward to hearing from others.

Wow Dawn I am glad everything went well. Thanks for all the info. how long were you "out" for (in surgery)? Cutiern, I understand how you feel. I am very nervous. I have been very busy though, so not alot of time to think. that always happens at night, so hopefully I won't have insomnia tonight. I just want it to be over with NOW! That way I won't have to worry about the "what if's" anymore. That seems to be the hardest thing for me. I think I will go to bed watching mindless TV----that always seems to put me to sleep. Hopefulyyou are not too tired and maybe working will take your mind off this. by the way where do you work? I am an RN, although I dont work any more. Reeneea

Hi Junebies, I am scheduled to be banded June 5th by Dr. Spivak in Houston. I am very nervous, but excited also. I am not telling my children before hand, my 10y/o is a worrier and I just don't want him to worry, my other child is 6 and just too young to understand. What are others doing in regard to young children? telling or not before hand? good luck to everyone that is having their procedure this week-----keep us updated on your progress. Reeneea

Hi! I have been lurking for a few weeks now, soaking in all the information. I am scheduled for surgery June 5th. I am filled with mixed emotions, excited and nervous. Any surgery makes me nervous. Can anyone that has already had surgery tell me how long between surgery and discharge? Thanks Reeneea
