Hi Chillihot, How are you getting on a month out from the op? Jane x
-
Hi Snow, Good news, the time to April will pass quickly and by the end of 2010 you will have a whole new life as a much thinner person. Jane
-
Hi, nothing has come through yet. :001_tongue:
-
Hi could you email me too, have sent you a friend request. Cheers, Jane

Tiffy, I expect they have been threatened with legal action and do not have the funds to respond. Sad really.

Hi, I am 7 months out now from surgery on what was one of the best decisions I have ever ever made in my whole life and if I can help any of you in any way I will. I am so much healthier and happier than I was, in fact over Christmas I have been exercising and still enjoying the festive cheer. A 60 minute walk and a nice couple of pints of real ale in a local pub. Quality living Like a normal person really! Jane

PPI Meds and side effects?
Jane_J replied to LAN2k's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I am on Lansoprazole and I am slowly weaning myself off it, down from 30mg/day to 15mg/every other day. At the beginning I spent about a month with a permanently dry mouth. It was driving me nuts. Eventually my body adjusted to the meds and it went away. So if you need the PPI, and you will know soon enough by the pain if you do, please don't give up on it. Cheers, Jane -
The pre-op diet is to shrink the liver as they have to retract it out of the way for surgery. After the op there is no requirement to eat a fat free diet as far as I know. I eat fats, I am basically on a high protein diet which does have some fat associated with it and I have been losing fine.

Hey Helen, I got described as a MILF at the w/e, I know its rude but what a great thing for me. I have been asexual for years in my own head. Still got 2 stone to go though. Cheers, Jane

Hi Helen, thats's really great. I share your excitment vis a vis the clothing front. I have gone a bit mental on eBay as there are so many items I can buy now. Must learn restraint! I am now approx size 16 on top and 14 on bottom, or very close. I have nearly lost the weight of a small friend of mine. No wonder I felt tired all the time carrying her around with me. All the best, Jane

Question to people that have lost a lot of weight
Jane_J replied to Gingin33's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My family keep telling me I am looking younger and younger, which is nice. I haven't noticed any real bad wrinkles yet except above my knees. I do feel the cold a lot more now though. -
I have heard that its very difficult to get on the NHS and it involves loads of waiting on lists. I decided as I had some spare wonga to get mine done privately in the Czech Republic for a touch over ?5,000. I still had to pass a load of tests but they were all done on the same day and I could get it done and over with minimum disruption to my work. Plus I had a surgeon who has experience of many staple lines. I was very pleased with the results and I am still losing. It's brilliant to be merely slightly overweight as opposed to morbidly obese. Good luck with your op, I am sure you will find it the best thing you have done for yourself for many a year! Jane :thumbup1:

Hi Elaine, Welcome. How did you manage to get the NHS to do this?! Well done you! Good luck with the op and also with the pre-op diet. All the best, Jane

Hi Piglet, Welcome to the VSGers. I am in the UK too near Aylesbury and am 6 months out. Think you are going to be very pleased with your op. Did you get yours done on the NHS? All the best, Jane -
Really stressing about the hair loss aspect of this...
Jane_J replied to twobluecats's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi 2blue, I have lost some hair too, from about 2 months out it started shedding. Its only noticeable to me fortunately. I now have regrowth happening at 6 months out. This seems to be a problem with any weight loss, its not surgery related as far as I know. I think taking multi vits, collagen, calcium and getting your protein and not stressing your hair any further with dyes or perms is about all you can do. And its only temporary. All the best, Jane. -
Question to people that have lost a lot of weight
Jane_J replied to Gingin33's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi lucygoose. I really agree with you. I have lost 6 stone now and my skin is not going too bad actually. I take 3 tablets of marine collegen before bed time on the basis that it will help my skin to re knit itself while I sleep. Seems to be working, and I have always moisturised, for the last few years with Nivea Soft. If you do this procedure and show them the outcome maybe they will all follow you later. Some people are leaders and others are followers. I do wish you all the best and assure you that for me it is the best thing I have ever done bar marrying my DH and having my twins. Jane -
Hi all, Just had to share the fact I now have some 38E pretty bras and they are lovely and they make my boobs look quite nice, with healthy cleavage rather than just loads of squeezed flesh, if you know what I mean. It's been so long since this has happened I am quite excited :001_huh:

Extreme Dry Mouth: starting to get worried!
Jane_J replied to Southernlawyer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone, I had the dry mouth thing too. It is caused by the PPI, and I found that it eventually goes away as your body adjusts to the medication. It took a while for me and it was driving me nuts. My mouth would be dry immediately after drinking, it was insane! I would have stopped the PPI but that was worse than the dry mouth. Hope it clears soon for you all. Jane -
Hi Lauren, Congates to you and your Mum. I think it will radically change your life for the better. 1. Yes but you quickly learn. Its uncomfortable when you eat too fast and overeat. 2. I am only at nearly 6 months but I am out at restaurants 3 times a week an its fine. I just leave more than I did and choose starter plates sometimes instaed of mains. 3. Everyone stalls (except Mac!) but you just persevere and weight loss resumes. 4. For you it may be faster being over 30 years younger. I was OK to work after a month but I could have returned after 2 weeks if I had to. All the very best to you and I hope you get your sleeve as a Christmas present. Jane
