Acid rebound and kicking ppi's
Jane_J replied to stcyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have just done over a week of cold turkey coming off my PPI after nearly a year. It is getting better, thank God for Gaviscon, and I am glad I did it. I am nearly drug free now. Apart from the alcohol of course.....:drool5: -
Snappy comebacks for rude comments about WLS

I haven't had any bad comments. If I did I would assume they were motivated by jealousy as I look so utterly fab now hehehehe! -
3 Weeks & At A Stall...Need Help
Jane_J replied to gatormomof2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It happens to most people, you just have to wait it out and all will be well. -
You will look back on this decision one day and wonder why you did not do it earlier. I had a b/f like yours called Steve when I was in my early 20s and I wasted 18 months of my precious life on that loser. I know you can get back to being the SUPER happy girl you were once before and also you will be a SUPER skinny one too! Well done you

Hi Dimitrios, you are now on the weight losers bench with all of us, so this is really good. In the next year your life will improve amazingly. You will be able to enjoy the things others without the weight problems take for granted. Your life is going to be so much better. Jane -

Hi Dimitrios, You can move the chart to the right and then you will see these columns Date Weight Op Date Amount lost Target Normal You need to delete the data in columns a,b and c. Replace the Target values and the Normal values with what is right for you, and start filling in the Date and weight values as you progress. Make sure the chart is picking up all the rows as you add them. I charted from my pre-op diet, so to show when I had the sleeve op I have the Op Date column which only has a data point for my weight on the op date, so that point shows up in red on the chart. I don't know how familiar you are with excel though. Cheers, Jane -

Hi I have tried to upload my weight chart I hope it worked as it shows my loss over time. Cheers, Jane JJWeight.zip -
Hi, so you are basically getting 611 calories and doing 60 minutes a day exercise? That would kill me. I found I was happily losing 2lbs a week as I neared target on 1200/day plus a few hours a week walking. Maybe your metabolism has gone into starvation mode and is being really frugal. I would see your dietician. Your regime is really tough, you have my admiration

I do nett calories.

Hi Lee, sorry to hear you are finding it tough. What are you eating on a typical day and when are you eating it? You may lose more upping your calories to 800/900 and concentrating on protien in a solid form.

Post Op Clothing Dilemmas
Jane_J replied to pnw218's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I buy loads in charity shops and off ebay. It's good fun and you end up with your own distinctive look -
I had to grapple with this issue this year, so to speak. Trimmed all short with scissors and then used my leg depilator round the tops of my legs and the bikini line. It doesn't hurt as much as you think, and it does get better each time you do it. :tongue_smilie:

I tell every one with the zeal of a recent convert!! Probably can bore to death for England on the subject.

Hi ouroborous, My IQ is/was quite high too. I think people who over-think sometimes develop psychological disorders, eating was a way of numbing myself. Also had depression badly as a teen and through to a few years ago, was a long term prozac user. Plus being brought up in a very guilt/blame type family, I could Fortunately advancing age is knocking off those old IQ points so its not so bad now! :tongue_smilie:

Cant decide / please help
Jane_J replied to ninaboo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I never had the band because when I researched it I kept hearing about problems with slippage and erosion and ports flipping and the idea of a port made me feel sick anyway. I have no food restrictions at all now, except on volume of food I can get down. I am really happy and cannot see any down side to how I am now. I have found the past year hard, getting used to my new appetite, losing weight and hair which is now OK, and just seeing myself in a new way. Right after surgery I was doing what everyone else does, trying different Protein drinks, some are OK others are skanky. Taking it really easy on the healing tummy, not feeling hungry, when I did feel hungry that was sorted by moving to the solids phase as that food stays in your tummy much longer. But it has been 100% worth it and I hope now to be on this earth for a load more years so I can be a good grandma to my future grandchildren. My daughters are only 18 at the mo and I am 52 so I will not be a young grandma so I need all the help I can get. -
I have been using the MyPlate since October, used the setting to lose 2lbs a week at 1st, now aiming at 1.5lbs, which gives me 1130 per day at my current weight. Its been a godsend to help me track what I am doing, also can track exercise and the offset that gives. And you can see cute little graphs with your weight and calories and calories including the exercise offsets.

Hey, just got back from a gig and as pissed as a parrot, in the UK thats good. Basically we all care and we want you to ditch the anchor and fly free and become what you really are sweetie. God knows I am old enought to be your Mum, I am 52, but please don't waste all you love and potential on someone who doesn't even care. Love yourself even 50% as much as we all love you and you will be fine. You could always come and stay with me in the Uk to sort yourself out sweetheart. Cheers, Jane

He is trying to sabotage you, and at this stage he might succeed in killing you. Don't be forced to eat on your newly healing stomach. Personally I would ditch the jerk, and you can show him this if you like. You really need to live alone for a while. It's not so scary, in fact you will end up loving it. Only then will you feel that you are chosing a man because you want him, rather than because you are scared of being alone. Pity the poor women who ends up with your guy next! You are way way too good for him, do your self another good favour, you have made a brilliant start with this surgery, now take complete control of your life, you can do it.

For me my hair started to grow back in so my hair dresser notices the stubble at 7 months. I just took my vits, made sure I ate my protein and had faith!

I can eat 2 rashers of grilled back bacon, a bite of sausage and 1 fried egg for a brunch now. I can eat 2 slices of bread with minimal topping in one go but it's pushing it. I can eat 600ml of french onion soup over 30 minutes, or a whole grilled chicken breast with chilli sauce and salad. I fill up quickly and stay full for maybe 4 hours if I have eaten a protein meal, only 2.5 hours if it a carb meal. I tend to follow an Atkins type regime as this works best for me. I am happy with where I am now, if we go out for a long leisurely lunch I can eat more as there are long pauses between the courses and wine relaxes your stomach. I am a year out from surgery and I still feel the restriction but it's not in a bad way, I don't get sick, I just can't eat any more. I do find if I get too hungry I eat too fast and that does tend to make me cough which I didn't do pre surgery.

Ninaboo, I initially was going to do the band but after researching on sites like this decided to go VSG and I am very glad I did. -
How long did you leave your stitches in?
Jane_J replied to JillianMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
10 days and then my daughter removed them for me because our useless and judgemental NHS nurses deemed that I had the op done privately so they couldn't possibly take them out. They decided this on Friday morning after previously allowing me to make the appointment on the instructions of my GP at the same practice. I was furious :lol0:, but my daughter who is hoping to study medicine stepped in and did a grand job with a new pair of nail scissors and eyebrow tweezers! -

Hi Dimitrios, Congratulations on deciding to have a VSG. I did the same a year ago and it had exceeded my expectations. I am very happy and I am sure you will be too. All the very best, Jane
