VSG and IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) experiences?
Jane_J posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone, I posted this on Ask Dr Jossart but I would appreciate your input here too, if anyone has any experience of IBS and VSG I know my friend would be very grateful. She is a little shy so I said i would ask for her. I know you will alll be full of good advice and ideas. I have been asked by a friend whether or not suffering from IBS would preclude her from VSG surgery? If not, what should she do, over and above what the rest of us had to do, post surgery to recover successfully? I have not got this problem so I cannot help her. Please could you give some advice here? Jane x -

Hi Pat, I am in the UK but I did my sleeve privately in the Czech Republic. One of the reasons i went privately, apart from being able to lay my hands on 5 grand, was to bypass the NHS delaying tactics. There are others who have got NHS treatment on here, take a lookm at the UK sleevers forum to see them. Good luck, Jane x

Hi Mini, Many people are shallow and don't really see people. Its not you, it's them, and I quite agree with what you are seeing. I watch this happening with me but i will never forget where i came from, so it cuts no ice with me. Jane x

No and it might be a bit hot and bothersome. Having said that I wonder if wearing bands on my upper arms over winter might help the skin to shrink. The collagen tablets have helped a lot, according to my husband I am looking a lot less wrinkly. Jane x

measuring my protien....is this right?
Jane_J replied to mommytoethan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Grams are weight too, there are 28 grams in 1 ounce. 2 oz equates to 56 grams. I use the daily plate to log my stuff, takes the headache out of it. Jane x -
what's the deal?? I'm hungry!
Jane_J replied to nurse_ally's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Globie, That sounds pretty horrible. I think though you need to get to 8 weeks out to form any idea of where you will end up with this, and for my I think at 6 months I was still not stable although now at 15 months I think I am and it's sweet. So basically hang on and wait. Hope the Iraq thing is going OK, I think you are very brave. Jane x -

Jane_J replied to nurse_ally's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Ally, are you eating protein dense chunky food? If now, do so as this sits in your stomach and stops the hunger. Having said this I am much more likely to feel hungry in the morning than the afternoon, it's my bodies rhythm. Jane x -
Frustrated w/so many things....
Jane_J replied to Sunshine's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The body can handle far more than 20g at a time of protein. This is an urban myth, I think MacMadame dealt with this ages ago but the thread has been lost in the mists of time! Jane x -
measuring my protien....is this right?
Jane_J replied to mommytoethan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OZs are a weight measure not a volume measure. CCs are a volume measure. Volume is length x width x height, it measures the space something takes up, 1CC of air weights very little. Weight is mass x gravity, essentially weight can be viewed as mass bearing in mind we have constantish gravity on Earth. Jane x -
Hi Stacey, what the others have said is great. Basically in your position don't weigh more than once a week and keep hanging in there. It will pass. I have been there. Also confusing your body by upping the caloeies for a few days can shake it out. Jane x

Ha, I found using this device solved my constipation, please don't ask why!!!! https://www.tenscare.co.uk/index.php?action=products&product=81 Since I have been trying to tone up my bits with this I seem to have rediscovered the joys of pooing!! Jane x (what a relief!) -
Hi all, I don't know if any of this is appropriate but I am struggling with the whole death subject. My Mum died badly from cancer in '89, and my best friend died from cancer in '91 and another friend has has died badly. Basically I cannot see any rational reason to struggle on to the end apart from family/religious pressure. Our friend had requested a one way trip to Switzerland (Dignatas) but his wife said no. She is now having to deal with the reality of his death which was really bad, I cannot do the details but it was as bad as it gets. She feels like shit and did not expect what actually happened. Basically I feel now after a small scare that there is no way I would go through that. I would take the what you would do for a suffering animal option. What do you all think, only based on actual experience of really seeing what happens please? Jane x

Lisa, I sympathise with you, this must have been horrible for all. Jane x

Sometimes you see your parents have feet of clay, which is actually quite liberating when you have processed it. Rest assured you are not the first here, accept they can give what they are capable of, they still love you. Jane x -

Joining You From Australia :)
Jane_J replied to kilrust's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Ruth, Where in England were you from originally? The past year has made me realise exactly how much more than I needed I was eating. I think you will definitely manage to eat either the same or slightly more than your granddaughter but not for a good few months yet. We have our daughters Australian b/f staying with us at the mo, he's from Perth, and our Australian links are good. We plan to visit over Chrismas if we can. Jane x -
Thanks mp8btpc, This is a terrific document, I think it will help lods of people. Jane x
