here is what my post op diet is supposed to look like: Your first week Keep in mind that you now have a new stomach, much smaller than a few days ago, the volume needed to fill your stomach is now 2 oz. During the first week of the gastric band placement, you will be experiencing not only the adaptation to your new food habits, remember that you will also be recovering from a minimally invasive surgery, symptoms like mild pain and soreness are normal. The first and second week you will be in a liquid diet, using straw is recommended to avoid big gulps that may cause nausea or discomfort. During the fist week clear liquids are recommended (water apple and grape juices, tree top, ocean spray and welch's are recommended) From fourth day on, natural fruit juices (strained and gelatin can be added if well tolerated) The largest volume take that your stomach can accept is 2 fl. Oz. At a time, let it rest for 2 hours before serving this quantity again. Have all the clear water that u can in between "meals". Miscalculations may lead to nausea. Room temperature during first week is the most recommended, slightly cold gelatin is acceptable. Take gelatin in small chunks and chew and dissolve. Take care of wounds: clean daily bath using only water and soap, scrubbing only in the same direction of it, cover with gauze or band aid. NEVER: keep on eating if you are already satisfied. Try to eat more that you stomach can handle. Your second and third week Keep in mind that you now have a new stomach, much smaller than a couple of weeks ago; the volume needed to fill your stomach is now 2 oz. It is time to include variety and a few more consistent foods to your diet: On your second week continue with clear liquids and gelatin and add:Whole natural fruit juice, use synthetic sugar to sweeten. Pear and apple pure Soups (broth):Potato Tomato Lentil Vegetable Chicken [*]On your third week add: Chopped fruit (very small pieces) Whole Vegetable juices Whole Vegetable juices At this time you should be able to handle correctly your new stomach capacity. But always remember to let it rest for 2 hours before repeating the serving of more consistent food or the 2 oz. Measure, miscalculation may lead to nausea and stomachache. Food temperature: Fruit juices are well tolerated cold (no exaggeration) Warm soups. The care of your wounds: As a normal symptom of healing, itching will appear. NEVER: keep on eating if you are already satisfied. Try to eat more that you stomach can handle. well, 10 pounds in 2 weeks is good. and so is 7 pounds in one week!!! -
well, i haven't even been banded yet and i have weight loss goals in mind! is that crazy? i will be banded on june 30th and my first goal is to be down by 12 pounds by july 30th!
-
has anyone been pregnant while banded? how long should you wait after you are banded before you try that? and do you have to get completely unfilled? will the baby be malnourished? can you have natural child birth after banded?
-
okay. i want to join the june bandsters. i am getting banding on june 29th! excited, yet nervous. christa94@yahoo.com

thanks for the post. since i last posted, i have spoken to some patients that had their procedures done there and they were very pleased and had good things to say. i have also dealt extensively with the clinic. tons of questions and they seem very accomodating and have provided answers to my concerns. i will let you all know how it goes for me.
-
what is band erosion again? what makes that happen? and how are you doing now that the band has been removed? do you still eat smaller portions of food? will you get rebanded or try another wls?
-
well, congrats on the baby and the band weight loss! does your obgyn know alot about the band to offer instruction or do you primarily see your surgeon and the nutritionalist? are you still on liquids?
-
that is a good question because i have read here that there are some people that have experienced restriction with just the band alone. (that doesn't seem to be the story for alot of people, but some)
-
the way you all are describing this PB is really scaring me! how will i know that is what it is and not a heart attack or something like that?
-
penni, why was your band removed? would you still recommend others to get it?
-
what is the difference between pb (burping up a portion of one's food) and all out vomitting?
-
wow. that is great! how many fills have you had?
-
does anyone regret getting the band?
-
does anyone every add thick-it to liquids to make them have more of a texture so that they will be more like solids? you know, like the consistency of applesauce?
-
i saw someone else post about drinking low calorie protein drinks. is that something that we bandsters should have? i know 3 folks that had the gastric bypass. and they are supposed to drink this whey protein shake everyday to help with protein intake. does that apply to us as well?
-
i'll take your word at it. you seem to be doing really well with this. i like to learn from those that have already journeyed the path.
-
and that would add too many calories to the diet? okay.
-
so, the key is to stay away from dry foods, right?
-
what about pasta? can you all eat that if chewed really well?
-
ok everyone. i have my date. i have my financing coverd. got the fiance on board. my date is june 29th. it seems like an eternity from now. i want to start a countdown, but i think i drive myself crazy. i want to go ahead and get this over with so i can start my process. what will i do with myself until then? i have started to try out parts of the "lifestyle changes" that i will have to make. like chewing my food at least 15 times before i swallow and not having water with my meals. cutting out the sweets and just make better food choices. what more should i do?
-
how do you get the ticker to show up at the bottom. do you add it as part of your signature? i am clueless! and i have a wedding to plan. i am getting married on sept. 2 so i have tons that i am busy with, but this surgery also rushes to the forefront of my thoughts.

does it help to drink something when a slime occurs?

does anyone on here have a positive story about the lapband? what healthy foods do you find are easy to tolerate? what about foods that aren't so easily tolerated? i like vegetables, do you think they will be a problem for me? i hear alot of people on here saying that the band didn't help with emotional eating and things like that. it is my understanding that the band is a "tool" for weight loss and that no it is not going to solve all your problem. i used to binge and purge. and for anyone that understands eating disorders, you know that it is not about your size but moreso a coping mechanism. emotional eating has to be dealt with before ANY weight loss plan (the band, gastric bypass) will successfully work. years of therapy has taught me that. ok. just my $.02 worth. i mean to offend noone. and how does that little number line come up to show where you are now and where you are with your weight loss?:help:
