Hey everybody! I was banded June 9th, 2006. Pre op weight was 251.5lbs and am down to 233 now. I am just wondering if this is a normal weight loss rate. I also noticed that while initially I was loosing weight rapidly, about three weeks after surgery I started to fluctuate loosing a pound then gaining two pounds etc. Any one having or have had a similar experience? I seem to be pretty static the last two weeks only having lost 3 lbs. I know I am impatient and I am really trying to be more patient with myself but it is really tough. I am also going in for a fill in July. How well do fills boost weight loss? Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated. :nervous Yasmin

Just banded 5 days ago. Yeah! I have not had any problems whatsoever. Allready lost 10.5lbs. Started mushies today and had no problems with my first "meal". Although, I almost wish that it would have been painful to eat because now I am panicking about it being too easy to eat. For the first time in my life I feel like I have control over my apetite/ hunger but am still afraid that I will uncontrollably eat something I shouldn't. Really, really working on recognizing the feeling of "fullness". Not sure I have ever felt full before. LOL. My doctor told me that my new stomach would hold around 1/2 cup so my first mushy meal was approx 1/2 cup and I don't feel hungry but I am not sure if I feel full either. Weird. Good luck to all of us! Keep posting. Yasmin

Hey, I am scheduled to have surgery on Jun 2nd, here and have researched extensively but can not seem to find anyone else who has been banded at this clinic other than the patients I have contacted through the office. All had good things to say. Would not mind more independent reassurance though Yasmin -
Hey, I have tried this as well and the pudding is really good and I am a bona fide sugar addict! Can not tell the difference with this at all! Yasmin

Appreciate all the ideas here! I was worried about eating after banding (scheduled for June 2nd, 06). Now I feel like I have a better grasp on what options there are on the differents stages. It is helping me strategize for after surger. Thanks, Yasmin

Hi! Love this sticky. I have a prayer request. Please pray that my lapband procedure goes well for me. It is scheduled for Friday in Mexico. While I do not attend church regularily, my faith is strong and I believe in prayer. I will continue to check this thread and please know that anyone who requests a prayer will definately get this from me. Thank you. Yasmin

Hey, I am new to this but am looking for friends here locally. I am in Mtn. Home but attend BSU pretty much every day. Would love some contacts to help me navigate the band. My surgery is scheduled for this Friday in Mexico. Insurance doen't cover it here, so I am paying out of pockett. Yasmin

Ok, so I am not suggesting anything illeagal here. At my school, we have an excess medical clause with financial aid. I still had to submit bill, letter, etc. and it did have to be approved by the financial aid dept. Just to clear that up. Anyway, I am going to grad school as well, so I definitely feel your pain regarding student loans.

Oh my gosh, it is so nice to find someone to talk to. Thanks for the reply. I am having surgery at the Bajanor Obesity Clinic in TJ. I am in Mtn. Home but attending and working at BSU. I haven't found a doctor who will follow up with me locally so I have arranged to follow up in Mexico if I can find no alternative locally. I have not located a support group other than this forum (and I am incredibly grateful for it). Am not sure if Boise support groups are open to Mexican Bansters as many of them are run by certain clinics. If you have any suggestions about anything related to your experience let me know. I am so excited (and really scared as well). What is eating like? I know why I am fat, I really like food. Does this change? I realize that banding is just a tool and I am ready to change my bad habits, I just wonder how much of our eating is psychological and how this changes after the procedure. :clap2:

This would depend really. I am taking out a student loan for part of my banding (June 2nd) but have really had to struggle with this issue as well. For me, it will be worth it and I know alot of others have taken out conventional loans in order to pay the cost (these are usually higher intrest as well) so I decided to do it. I guess I'll let you know just how worth it it is after a few weeks.LOL

Hi, my name is Yasmin and I am schedule to be banded June 2nd, 2006. In Mexico.Yikes! I did do my research and am as comfortable as I am going to get with surgery in Mexico but due to the cost it really is my only option. So any pointers, stories, ideas would be greatly appreciated. I hope the best for all of us and pray that everything goes well. I have several questions about diet, excersize, expected weight loss, etc. Please send any tips or comments on these subjects. I have read everything out there on the internet but really would like to hear from those who have had the procedure and are living with it. Also, I live in Idaho and am having problems with finding a follow up doctor, so if anyone knows of one in or around ID please let me know the name and no. I have made arrangements to follow up in Mexico if all else fails, but would prefer a closer doc. Thanks and God Bless, Yasmin :peace:
