    Yoga---It's for US!

It's been a while since I've been here but this was the first place I thought about when I found a specific Yoga program that did wonders for me. It might have been mentioned already - I honestly don't know. But just in case it hasn't - you should all check out DDPYoga! If you're looking for a fantastic workout - not just for stretching/toning/flexibility but for low impact cardio too - then this is it. I have always had trouble exercising. My knees and ankles kept me from doing a lot of more high impact work and I never found anything I enjoyed. Then I found DDPYoga. Created by a former professional wrestler (Diamond Dallas Page) who'd had so many surgeries he could barely move anymore and wanted the flexibility yoga could bring but also the cardio of his old workouts. What you get is a combination of the very best Yoga, Traditional Fitness, Sports Therapy and Dynamic Resistance. You may have seen the video of Arthur going around - the retired vet who could barely walk and was majorly overweight and is not slim and running? This is the program he did! The support in the DDPYoga groups is amazing. The results of people from all weights/sizes/fitness levels is astounding. And I actually LOVE doing it! I get up early (and I am NOT a morning person) to do the workouts and start my day and then sometimes I'll do more at night and the results are the proof. In 2 months I lost 1/2 inch off the waist, 1/2 inch off the biceps, 1 inch off my hips, 2 3/4 inches off my thighs, 1 inch off my knees and 1 1/4 inches off my calves! Definitely check it out! Click here: DDPYoga - This Ain't Your Mama's Yoga! And if you haven't seen Arthur's video check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qX9FSZJu448

    Friday Weigh Ins

Been a while since I've posted but I seem to have found my sweet spot after 2 fills (7ccs total) and I'm now at 214! Can't wait to see 199 on the scale and I'm on my way!
  3. I'm sooo sorry I never responded to this! I haven't been on the boards in a while. We went the middle of June for our twins's birthday. They turned 8 the day we left to come home. They had a blast and loved every minute of it. DH and I have been several times, actually went there on our honeymoon.

    Port Position

Does anyone else have this problem? I am a very short person, 5'3", and I have a very very snort waist. There's really not a whole lot of room from my bottom rib down to my belly, etc. I feel like my port is constantly nudging my ribs. If I bend down I can feel it. I can't sit with my elbows on my knees because it feels like something is hitting my ribs. If I slouch while sitting at all it feels like something is bumping my ribs. I go on Thursday for my first fill so going to ask them about it but was curious if anyone else has had this.

Slow & steady, but I want it RIGHT NOW!

Just had to share this because it certainly helped me with this issue. The scale, even after my fill now, keeps hovering around a certain number, sometimes up a pound and sometime down. Well this morning I decided to try on an old pair of jeans. I was wearing a 22 and found ones that were an 18. Figured I'd just see how close I was to fitting in the, totally expecting them to be to small. THEY FIT! A tiny bit snug in the waist near the button but not by much and everywhere else is perfect. I was so excited and really needed that boost this morning. So keep trying on old clothes, measure the inches you're losing, because while the scale may be a source of annoyance, inches can sure make you feel great!

Slow & steady, but I want it RIGHT NOW!

I'm with you. There's days when I'm like 'holy cow I've lost so much in a short time!' and then there's day when I'm annoyed because I don't see the scale moving or any real difference. I'm down 27, including pre-op, and I'm very happy about that. I think I'll be more inclined to not stress about how fast/slow things are going once I'm out of the 200s. It's been so long since I've been there. I just want to get rid of as much before my trip in a few weeks. At the very least these last 3 pounds so I can say I've lost 30! We'll get there! It's not a race and losing slow and steady is healthier anyway.

    Friday Weigh Ins

233 today so the scale is moving again after my fill! That's 27 total so far, so close to that 30 pounds mark.

    Flouroscopy anyone?

I had this. It's common procedure with my doc - they have one set up in a room at their office. It was actually really cool - they found my port easily and then I got to watch on a tv as I swallowed some barium and they made sure it was going down ok.
  9. Congrats! I had my first today as well.

    Hole in my port incision..

You need to go see your doctor about that right away.

    First fills

Just came back from getting my first fill! Got 4ccs. It wasn't bad at all, they laid me on a bed and used an x-ray thingy to find the port and watch the band as they filled it and gave me a barium drink to drink. I got to see it go down into my pouch and stuff - very cool! Yes, I'm a geek. Only pain was from the injection to numb the area. My port is lower than I thought with the feeling of something nudging my ribs so I'm guessing that's the tube maybe. Anyway all looks good, on Clear Liquids the rest of today then a week of full liquids then I can move on from there. Am scheduled for my 2nd fill on June 24, the day after we get back from Disney so that's fine. Hoping for a good drop in weight between now and then - especially with all the walking at Disney!

    Periods stopped?

I had surgery on April 9th and should have started that weekend. I didn't start until the 23rd. Spoke with my surgeon and my primary doctor and both said that after surgery and with the only having liquids, etc, it's normal for that to happen. Like other said, give it a little more time then check with a doc.

    First fills

Well my first fill is tomorrow and I sure hope there's at least some restriction. I want to lose as much as I can before my Disney trip! The only bummer is that Saturday is my anniversary and then of course there's Memorial Day. As far as I know I'll be on full liquids - creamy soups and such - during that time. Oh well, it's more important to lose the weight then 'party' right?

    Port Position

I'm not sure where exactly my port is. The incision is about two inches up and to the left of my belly button (looking down at it). I used to feel what I figured was the port right around there, maybe a bit above, but now I don't feel it really. I figure I'm just going to have to deal and if so, so be it. But it's annoying.

    First fills

I'm not upset at the slowness of the weight loss. I've dieted before and stalled for months lol I just really want to lose as much as I can before I go to Disney next month :smile2:
  16. CelticAngel

    stalling already?

Always keep in mind that - especially as women - you will retain water and some days you may be up a few pounds and then down. That's why you should never way every day. At most once a week - once every two weeks is even better. The best thing to do is measure yourself and watch the inches instead of the scale. Even if the scale isn't moving you could still be losing inches.

    First fills

I go for my first fill on the 21st. I can definitely eat more now than I should so I'm having to be very careful and not let myself eat to much, though it's not anywhere close to what I used to be able to eat. I'm losing, VERY slowly, so looking forward to the restriction of the fill.

    Question for the ladies

Okay girls need some advice. I was banded on 4/9. Usually my period starts between the 10th and 15th. Well it still hasn't started. Now I know I'm not preggers (hubby is fixed and they did a preg test anyway) and I'm sure it's just the stress from the surgery and then the blood clot that has it all screwed up but I feel sooooo bloated! And my weight has gone up by a few pounds which I know is just Water weight but it's still annoying. Anyone else have this happen? Anyone know of a way to sort of kick start a period? Silly question I guess but this is driving me nuts. I just feel like if my period would start already I'd feel so much better.

    Before Pictures..

Ok let's see if I can get this to work. This is me and a friend of mine a few weeks before surgery.

241 today - still. Stupid period needs to hurry up so I'll get rid of this water.

    Question for the ladies

LOL yes exactly! At this point I'm all but begging for it to start so I won't feel so horribly bloated anymore. I guess I'll just hang in there and hope it finally shows up.
  23. CelticAngel

I am in the hospital :-(

You will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers
  24. CelticAngel

    Question for the ladies

Oh sorry to hear you're in the hospital hon. They did a blood test on me that said there was a clot then did a chest CT with the dye that they pump through your veins to find it. Showed it in my lung.

Calling all april 9, 2009 bandsters

Got banded on April 9th. Between the week preop diet and a few days after surgery I'd lost 19 pounds. A week after surgery I ended up with a blood clot in my right lung though so back in the hospital I went. Home now and on blood thinners and doing better. I've gone up a few pounds though - but I'm sure it's Water. All the stress has screwed up my monthly cycle and I'm pretty sure that's it. Very annoying though. But on mushies now - yay! - and looking for some good ideas on what to have.
